What would you guys pay for a 16’ with 18,000 miles?

I’m in the Midwest and this is listed for 5,800. I actually prefer these looks wise to the newer MTs

I found an OEM rear tire hugger for my 06!

It came from the Netherlands and cost 90 dollars shipping/tariffs and $235 all said and done but the aftermarket unpainted ones are like 290 so I think it was a steal.

This is the first time I’ve not known how old my chain is, how can I tell when it’s time for a new one?

I know the sprockets look fine, the chain looks fine after a clean and a quick 30 miles ride, but all I can find online about how to tell a chain is bad is rUsT bAd. Obviously things can be taken care of and get worn out without being rusty. How do you tell? How’s mine looking?

It’s a new riding season, how has your garage changed this year?

I got rid of a nc700x and acquired this old gs500 project bike and the sv650 is my new main ride instead of the Honda.

Just gave my bike its first wash, I know I should have asked first, but I have a couple questions.

Should I have let it cool down all the way down?

I only waited like 5 min, it was at 195f when I turned it off. In hindsight I feel like maybe I should have waited longer.

I did not use the high pressure jet on the engine or spray it inside the fairings or anything, could I have though? Would it have hurt anything?

I didn’t plug the exhaust but I avoided it and didn’t get any water inside. It is basically completely open in the back so I was careful.

I obviously didn’t use the high pressure on the instrument cluster either but I did use like a medium pressure spray, is that cool?

Two bikers pulled into the bay next to me, they came after me and left before me but I didn’t go say hi, would it have been weird if I did? Initially I didn’t notice but it was a dude a girl, I’m also a woman. Idk they didn’t say hi either so I just don’t want to be rude, I also don’t really have time for new friends so

sorry, I’ve just had a klx dual sport that I’ve never actually washed and a Honda I only owned for a few months and also never washed because I’m lazy and unmotivated, but that’s a different story.

All opinions welcome.

What bike would you get if you wanted a power increase over your SV650s

I have the fully faired version 2006, I am open to a sport bike or naked. I don’t really want a 600 or 1000

So far I’ve been wondering if an R7 or fz07/mt07 would feel like more of a side step? Should I go for the fz09/mt09/R9?

Gsxr 750? Or the newer 8s?

Please leave any experience you may have had with these bikes and their acceleration power compared to an SV?

Edit: I am 5’6” 125lbs. This is mostly why I don’t want a liter bike, they tire me out quickly and I want to ride more, not less.

Now that most of the US is like an oven, do you ride at night to escape the heat? What extra precautions do you take?

I personally just don’t take country roads because of the amount of animals out at night around me, I’m wondering if there are other things is should be doing? I obviously avoid the bar scene areas as well and keep my speed low around all the intersections.

You can still lower the footpegs on 03-09 SVs like people did with the “Buell” pegs

So I see all this stuff online how people used to order pegs from Buell and lower their pegs but you can’t find them anywhere anymore.

WELL, I just bought these pegs from Tec Bile Parts USA for an old royal enfield 650 but the lowering link was out of stock.

BUT I found that a place called Baxter Cycle sells them!!!

It cost less than 100 dollars and now my begs are nearly 2” lower!! Only took about 40 minutes and I didn’t have to mess with the shifter or rear break. They also are very adjustable so you can tweak your riding position a little!

Oops I bought another motorcycle.

I started riding again for the first time in my adult like almost exactly a year ago. Now I have 4 bikes(ones for sale)

How to control myself?

This gs500 is running but needs the carbs cleaned.

I paid 700 dollars for it and I rode it home. What? How am I supposed to stop this behavior?

Do you guys still stare at your bike?

When I take a little break at work I basically just stare at my bike for 5 minutes, does this go away?

I ordered an iridescent windshield and immediately regretted it, they accidentally sent me black, so I guess it really wasn’t meant to be. How do you guys feel about black vs stock clear?

Has anyone put higher than stock clip on risers on their 2003-2009 sv650s?

The stock rise is 1.5”

how high has anyone gone without buying new cables? If you only got 2” risers, was the extra half inch noticeable at all?

I want the adjustable angle woodcraft 75mm( rise 2.9 inches)but I’m reading that’s too much rise without new cables. I’m not finding any adjustable angle clip ons with just a 2” rise.

They make 35mm but that’s less than stock (not what I want)

I’m basically already obsessed with this bike, it’s nearly stock except the Delkevic slip on. Recommend mods you guys all do?

Any recs really, I’m just parked in the shade at the mall trying to talk about this bike while my back sorts itself out. I got it yesterday, 9,400 miles. What to expect? Fork seals were done 500 miles ago. Only thing so far is I think I’m melting my boot on the exhaust in the circled area last picture. My feel are not big, women’s 10 so men’s 8.5 ish

I threw a new battery in it this morning too, he warned me it was old but I rode it home last night. Parked it, my wife took a couple videos of it running after it was parked, then this morning it wouldn’t start lol
