Living Felt uses AI now.

[THIS PROMOTIONAL IMAGE WAS USED ON THEIR SITE BY MISTAKE. PLEASE READ THE EDIT AND TL;DR BELOW FOR CONTEXT BEFORE RESPONDING TO THIS POST.]

I was about to fill up a cart when this promo banner caught my eye, and not for the right reasons. It's AI-generated. The wool is weirdly uniform and the "mohair" curls are unrealistically even. The acorns are the most obvious AI tell, since they're equally fucked up. One is sideways, and another has two butts and one cap.

LivingFelt has scads of listings that feature actual human artists' work, so this feels like a huge let-down. It hurts even more since I've been using the site as my main wool supplier.

It's just so sad, especially when they've given me handwritten thank-you notes on my receipts before. Where did that human touch go?

[EDIT] - I did get a response, which I am posting below:

"Thank you for pointing that out, we all agree. This was one of a few AI generated images from a new offsite graphics designer - using our own creations as models. Marie and Rodney were both unhappy when they saw them and had them removed immediately. This one managed to slip by. We love our artists and have been supporting and showcasing their work since the first day of business! We appreciate the dialogue and for [being] the person who pointed this out!"

TL;DR - An offsite designer made the AI banner and it was mistakenly in rotation on the website. The banner has since been removed.

Felting Fairies do listen!!!

You Weren't Meant To Be Human - which print edition has the epilogue?

Exactly what it says on the tin. I just finished reading Andrew Joseph White's worm cult body horror gorefest, and my ebook version did not include the extra ending chapters, which do exist in print versions of the book.

Obviously I have to read the epilogue now, so can someone point me towards the correct print edition that has it? Gotta get that book physically in my hands and not just as data inhabiting a machine.

(maybe wanna eat it too)

A Mongy Movie Recommendation: IT! The Terror from Beyond Space

I watch a lot of old movies, and I especially love shlocky sci-fi stuff. This movie from 1958 has everything that's in a regular game of Among Us, so if any fellow beans out there like old movies, I'd recommend giving it a watch! There are sus crewmates, a cafeteria scene, an alien intruder, and it all takes place on a rinky-dink spaceship. Bodies, vents, cargo hold shenanigans, puffy space suits, the whole shebang!

Here's an article about the movie if you're curious, and you can find it streaming for free on PlutoTV if you want to watch!

Looking for Sci Fi recommendations!

Looking to read some nasty, gory science fiction horror. Love themes with parasites, medical experimentation, torture, and body horror. I'm a big fan of the Alien movies, the video game Scorn, and the grim darkness of the 41st millennium. Big fan of Hellraiser and Lovecraft as well. Really looking for stuff that will give me a gruesome case of space sickness. (doesn't have to be actually set in space tho lol) No limits on subject matter.

Cat loudly announcing her tummy issues.

The last couple of times my cat (15+ spayed female) has thrown up, she has loudly announced it before doing so. "Mwow mwow mwow mwow mwow!" This is pretty unusual, since she has previously just urped up whatever without much fanfare.

I have vague memories of her maybe doing this like 1 or 2 times in the distant past, but it's concerning because it has happened twice this past week. First time she had a hairball, second time she had gorged herself too fast on her nightly allotment of treats. These are both entirely normal cat yakking circumstances, so I'm not too concerned about her throwing things up. I'm mainly concerned about the sound she makes while doing so.

To me, her pre-puke yowling sounds like she's dealing with some extra gastrointestinal pain. She's a senior at 15+ years old, so the possibility of some age-related issue is very real. Her brother and littermate passed earlier this year from liver failure, and I'd rather take palliative action sooner to make her as comfortable as possible if it does turn out to be a larger, more systemic issue.

Has anyone else's cat started yowling loudly to announce vomiting later in life, and was it connected to a larger medical problem? Or am I just being paranoid?

Additionally, I have noticed her getting slightly louder in general after the loss of her brother. Maybe she's compensating his absent meows, or perhaps she's starting to lose some hearing since she's getting to be a senior kittizen.

I'm an adult and I live with my parents (US) and we all take care of the cat, so getting her to the vet isn't an issue. I'm just concerned for her, and because of her age my brain is going to sad places.

Might be something, might be nothing, might just be her getting old.

TL;DR - cat is suddenly being very loud and yowly immediately before vomiting, and I'm concerned it might be a sign of some larger issue since she is a senior cat.

Mysterious creature found on snapping turtle in western NY

What is this? My thought was a leach. My friend said maybe a parasite.

Tech-priest with a cog tonsure.

I know the full bald look is more popular but this might be an ultra-orthodox option for the more religious acolytes of the Machine God.

Feel free to name this guy in the comments lol!

Role Concept: Overachiever

I love doing tasks. Doing tasks is my favorite part of playing Among Us. I'd love to do even more tasks, so here's my new role idea: the Overachiever.

The Overachiever, once done with all tasks, gets fed random tasks to do until the game's end that each contribute a fraction of a regular task's progress to the total task progress of the game.

The host of the game can adjust how little or how much that fraction is, from as little as 5% to as much as 50%. Otherwise, the percentage defaults to an amount proportional to the number of crewmates in the lobby.

They can also determine whether or not those tasks fit the selected task types. For example, if the host is doing a vis-off game, they can decide whether or not the Overachiever can do visual tasks.

Impostors and other crewmates can witness the Overachiever doing these extra tasks and either accuse them of faking or deduce the Overachiever's role by small task progress increases.

The host could also determine whether or not the Overachiever's extra tasks can be performed post-mortem, by the Overachiever's ghost. If Guardian Angels are enabled, then that overrides an Overachiever's post-mortem tasking if they are chosen.

a single sausage fried in water until burning

exactly what it says on the tin. a single sausage fried in water until burning.

there's barely any context for the dream except that i was the one cooking the sausage, inexplicably, in a large industrial sink shallowly filled with water.

the sausage smelled real good too, until i burnt it, and i woke up with burnt sausage scent still in my nose.

My family has a wonderful Sheltie and I'm the designated "dog groomer" of the house, meaning I'm the one who gives her a brushing between professional grooms.

I am looking for a leave-in conditioner spray to use during those brushings that will moisturize her coat and skin, ideally with a light scent or no scent at all. She has mild to moderate dry skin issues, and if a conditioner spray can help with that I would be grateful. Being a Sheltie, she has a long double coat that can hang onto shed hair, and I'm hoping a spray conditioner will make our brush sessions a lil smoother.

The low/no scent preference is because I have asthma and migraines that can be triggered by heavy perfumes. I'm also okay with my dog just smelling like herself. She's a pretty clean girl and doesn't get real stinky, so it doesn't make much sense to douse her in perfume imo. However, if there is a truly good "wonder product" that happens to have a scent, I'll risk it.

We have a Chewy membership for her, so if a recommended product is available on their site that's great. I'm definitely willing to buy from other sites, though.

Little Miss Maggie and I thank you for your time and expertise, and we're both looking forward to smoother brushings ❤️
