Two Spotlight questions

I’ve been itching to try Showcase, but I’ve read a lot of posts saying it’s broken — to the point that even Vinted has acknowledged it. However, the posts I saw are from anywhere between a year ago and a few months ago. Does anyone know if it has been fixed?

Also, about getting Showcase cheaper: I read that the price is based on your active listings. I tried hiding my most expensive listings and successfully got the offered price lower.

Does anyone know if unhiding them after activating Showcase makes them showcased too? And what happens if you create entirely new listings after activating Showcase — do those get included as well?

Shoeshine on coins?

After rinsing with acetone, put on black shoeshine in the grooves? Or might that damage the silver? Is paint better What paint?

Vinted just takes my Google profile picture?!

I'm pretty pissed that Vinted, upon recently connecting my Google account, just went ahead and took my Google profile picture and put it as my Vinted profile picture.

It said the Google connection would be used for faster authentication. But now this happens...

Like, WTF. I never wanted this. Anyone can reverse lookup / search that picture.

how do you clean/clear this part?

For the love of god. 🤬 I'm afraid to break it if I try to pull the wheel out.

Make listing bulky or short?

So, I always heard to make your ads as verbose as possible to avoid INAD claims. State everything that can be stated. Explain anything that could be unclear. Etc.

But I've been reading so many horror stories about scammers, and all that I conclude is: it doesn't matter what you put in your listing or not. If someone claims INAD, you're boned anyway.

So, ... Should I just keep my listings compact? Or be thorough?

And with this I mean...

Compact:

  • Title
  • keywords
  • imperfections

Thorough:

  • Title
  • background story
  • what is it
  • what is it not
  • what is included
  • what is not included
  • imperfections
  • catalogue entries
  • refer to images and say they are part of description
  • remind buyers that import/duties/customs are buyer's responsibility
  • that I'm selling on Ebay.com but I'm not from the US

Catch of last week

But finally came in today.

I wonder if that's a milk spot in the last picture, or if someone touched it.

To clean or not?

I'm aware that the overal consensus is that demi-water and Aceton are safe, and everything else is considered dangerous. But I still want to ask.

What are my chances to get the left coin to look more like the one on the right?

Could I carefully try baking soda + aluminium? Maybe try some silver dip? Or are both methods going to leave me with an uglier coin? I haven't tried aceton yet though, probably will first just try with that.

Also, are they maybe already cleaned?

Today's catch

A little swap I did today. Got a 1913 Prusian 2 mark and a 1874 Dutch rijksdaalder.

Also bought a 2000 Spanish pesetas coin, Olympics 2002 - Castling, but I'll show that one when it arrives.

Can I use VintedGo as my delivery?

VintedGo can be used standalone and gives delivery scans. However, these are for pickup points, not customer home address delivery. Can I use VintedGo as delivery with Ebay and will their delivered scans be accepted against INR claims?

Vinted Go delivery man took parcel without scanning

So I went to the drop off lockers and the delivery man was loading and unloading. I had to wait 10 minutes.

I asked him if he could still take my parcel with this run, and he said sure.

I scan my code, print my label and attach it to the parcel.

As the locker opens so I can put the parcel in, the delivery man closes the empty locker before I could object. Then he takes my parcel, claiming that if I closed the locker with the parcel insidr, that he couldn't reopen it today.

I was like, "but hey, the system now thinks my parcel is in the locker and tomorrow you'll find an empty locker".

He said "Nah, I'll see it tomorrow. I'm just doing you a favor this way"

So now I wonder if all is well. If a different man comes tomorrow, they could claim I'm scamming the system by leaving empty lockers for delivery. And today's driver could even easily keep my parcel to himself.

Why do you think my limit order wasn't executed?

Hi, I'm new to trading and even newer to this sub. Sorry if I'm making a rookie mistake here. But this feels off.

I’m trying to understand why my XAUT Perp buy limit order on Kraken Futures was not executed even though the chart wick went below my limit price.

Details:

Market: XAUT Perp

Buy limit: 4480.0 USD

Order opened: 23 May 2026 02:36:01

On the 1m chart, the candle around 09:46 showed a wick down to roughly 4462.4

My order remained at 0% filled

If the wick was based on actual trades, shouldn’t a buy limit at 4480 have been filled before price could trade lower?

This feels unfair! What am I missing here?

UPDATE: I have an answer from Kraken Support. This still feels unfair!

Kraken Support responded to my ticket and explained that the wick down to 4462.4 was apparently not a normal public order book trade.

According to them, the move was caused by an “Assignment” event during their liquidation and Equity Protection Process system.

Their explanation is roughly this:

  • A trader was liquidated.
  • Kraken first tried to close the position through the public order book using an Immediate Or Cancel liquidation order up to a low price as set by their parameters.
  • The liquidation could apparently not be fully executed through normal market liquidity within their parameters. Though I am in the order book, I was apparently not inside that range.
  • The remaining position was then assigned off-orderbook to a liquidity provider.
  • This assignment happened at 4462.4.
  • Because it was supposedly off-orderbook, my resting buy limit at 4480.0 was never eligible to fill.
  • However, the assignment price was still included in the chart candle and public trade data.

So Kraken’s position is basically: “The chart shows the price, but ordinary limit orders could not interact with that move because it was not a normal order book execution.”

I understand the mechanism they are describing, but I still find it economically strange and somewhat concerning.

From my perspective:

  • there was visible public liquidity available at my 4480.0 bid,
  • yet the system apparently allowed an off-orderbook assignment at a worse price of 4462.4,
  • while the public resting bid was bypassed.
  • all the active bidders up to 4462.4 potentially got screwed over as their bids could have been honored.
  • and the liquidated party got screwed over as they could have gotten a better liquidation deal.

That raises a fairness and transparency question for me.

Didn't bring out the really expensive stuff. And some doubles also not put on display.

Ebay restriction policies

I can't seem to get a good feeling of understanding policies.

Listing 406184768660 (Mystery Estate Sale box), where the buyer gets a "fun surprise". "Each pack contains a mix of foreign & American coins — could be old, new, rare, or unusual." - "Many packs contain collectible extras such as silver, proof coins, or even gold pieces (examples: silver quarters, silver dimes, and more)."... So after reporting this as against "Chance listings policy", I get a reply to move along, nothing to see here.

Can someone please explain? How is this not "Random drawings" as per the policy? Or at least a Grab bag / Mystery box where "items with monetary or collector's value" are NOT included with every purchase? How does Ebay actually reject my report saying the listing is NOT against their policy?

Also other reports that I did never got a repsonse, such as 157199593698 (ebay.co.uk), a "1 Oz .999 Silver Kookaburra" coin as per the object photo, and Silver even listed as the Metal property, but the title saying "Silver Plated", and a price that is clearly below any true silver coin. So this is clearly counterfeit bullion, which obviously meant it was a counterfeit coin, and thus against Ebay's "Counterfeit policy" that even states "Bullion described as “999 fine” but plated ..." and "Unauthorized replica coins or stamps" as forbidden. Yet this listing has been up since July 2025!

To me it's infuriating as I almost even bought the coin.

Went to a coin fair to sell some silver.

Ended up only buying instead.
Great success.

The 50 guilders was practically a donation at €30. The others were also nicely priced.

So what and where are the simplest and cheapest 999(9) rounds you can get (in Europe)?

They can be unminted, unprinted and nameless planchets for all I care.

Surely there has got to be something between a bar and a coin?

I would like to add more silver, but don't really care about whose silly face is on them. And I want to pay as little premium as I have to.

Nowadays, even bars are crazy expensive because of premiums. Whilst I do believe generic, uniform rounds would be more practical.

What is Ebay's view on adding a Digital Download together with a physical item listing?

Reading the Electronically Delivered Items policy, it isn't quite clear if any download is prohibited (unless authorised seller or in specific category), or of downloads can accompany a physical product inside a single listing.

Like for example, a pdf file of a blueprint as a download, together with the physical blueprint to be mailed.

Would such a listing be taken down if reported?
