Have anyone noticed a rise in people that work in customer service not asking their manager or coworkers for help if they encounter a problem?
When I worked at a large hardware store a majority of my day was spent going around asking coworkers and managers for help answering questions and solving problems for customers even if it took an hour. Now I'm noticing that if people can't figure it out for themselves they just basically shut the interaction down by staring at you blankly.
Recently went to a fastfood restaurant to use a coupon and the lady couldn't figure out how to input it. So she just gives me a blank stare and says the computer won't let her. And I'm waiting for her to go ask one of the half dozen coworkers behind her for help. She just fucking stares at me. Like lady.. go ask for help. I ended up leaving and going to a local family owned spot next door because she was already overcomplicating something that could have taken five minutes by just staring at me. I eventually was able to use my coupon at a different location a few weeks later.
Then I recently went to a store and went to the service desk to order some charcoal that was on sale and out of stock and the guy says "I don't know I'd ask John in the back if I were you"... **WHO THE FUCK IS JOHN** LMFAO. Why can't you call them to put in the order like the service desk does in other stores does. I asked the other person at the desk and they put the order in for me in no time... Like I just don't get why common sense wouldn't tell him to ask the person literally standing 5 feet behind him if he wasn't sure what he was doing or just didn't want to put the order in.
What's the dumbest thing you've seen someone do to get fired
I work collections and saw an agent that was $50 away from getting a $1000 bonus check pay a debtors bill with their own card. They would have gotten away with it if they didn't start bragging about it
What's the craziest thing your surprised someone didn't get fired for?
I had an ASM that was leaving for the day to go to a custody hearing with his ex wife. As he's about to leave a customer came up to him and claimed he threw away cigarette pack with like $700 in it. He claimed he saw an associate change the garbage after he did it but could only describe the associate as an "old white guy". The manager was so flustered about making the hearing dude went to I'm assuming the vault and gave the customer $700 cash so he could leave. Customer admitted to me that he was just messing with the manager. Manager did eventually get fired for safety like a year later for dropping something in main lumber in the middle of the day with no gates when he was flustered again.
Remote people, have you ever caught a manager or coworker saying something slick to you solely because you aren't having a face to face conversation and because they know they'd never meet you in person?
I've noticed with remote work that some not all coworkers and managers will do this. I had a manager go over a new process with me and wanted me to repeat the steps to her. I have a good memory so I repeated what she said verbatim with no issue. Her response with an annoyed tone "okay so all that proves is that you can regurgitate information..." I stopped the meeting and got my union rep involved immediately because all she did was ask me to repeat the steps which is exactly what I did . I just know that if we were face to face having that discussion she would have phrased whatever she was trying to say in a more professional manner.
Then I had a coworker on my team that I discovered liked calling everyone no matter what gender "gurrrl". I am not a "gurrrl" and I had to ask him twice to stop before I got management involved. I feel like that's something he wouldn't have repeatedly called me in person and I also feel he would have stopped after the first time I asked so I wouldn't have to get management involved. Any other fully remote people experience coworkers and managers getting too comfortable like this?
You ever walked past your department before a shift and could see it was was going to be terrible so you just leave in call off?
I remember years ago I walked into the store and this contractor I was cool with gets my attention and says I'm gonna have a really shitty shift today. Walk past paint and see somebody spilled like 20 gallons of stain in an area that was going to require bay diving and shutting off a busy aisle. I found a schedule in another part of the store and saw I would be working with my key carrying manager who averaged maybe 15 minutes in the department per shift and three of our "vets" who felt like heavy lifting and dirty work was meant for newer and younger associates. I exited out of tool rental and called right off LMFAO I was not about clean up 20 gallons by myself in the middle of the summer
Can anybody recommend a place that will replace the screen on an iPod classic?
Just found my old iPod from highschool and forgot I stopped using it because I messed the screen up. Is there a local place that does screen replacements? Would love to access my old music again
"I don't come to my dogs, my dogs come to me".
Historically the famous words of a nigga that truly does not want to fight but also doesn't want to look like a bitch
Why did this sub turn into the "beg for McDonald's and Papi platters money till Friday on my burner account because I fucked my check up on fan duel" sub
And niggas really be falling for that shit. When I was broke I'd trek my ass to the food pantry for an emergency bag to last a few days or I'd work at people ready so I could get a temp job that paid same day. And If your not valid enough for your local corner store to let you get eggs, bread, pb&j on credit till payday that mean you fucking up and even they know it.
Guy "cold texted" thousands of phone numbers during the course of a few months and now it's my fault APPLE blocked his APPLE ID associated with his number.
So I'm currently on the call with this gentleman right now. We've been on the phone for 45 minutes. This man is a salesman and has had this number for almost 20 years. He didn't think spamming random numbers about business was a bad idea and he is PISSED that he can't use iMessage or facetime since enough numbers reported his number. He says people have been telling him his number has been showing up as "scam likely". He refuses to get another phone number and won't take no for an answer. He just keeps saying "what are you going to do to help assist a customer for two decades?". Can't transfer him to a manager because he hasn't asked to speak with one. He just called APPLE care so "you both can collaborate to find a solution for your customer" and were still on hold. There literally isn't shit I can do so I've migrated outside with two beers and a joint and hoping this guy keeps me on the phone till 6:00pm wish me luck 🥂
Have you EVER had a positive interaction with somebody that uses the phrase "MAKE IT MAKE SENSE"?
This phrase so far has been a huge indicator that I'm about to be speaking with somebody who is pissed about something they know they caused and can't be fixed or somebody that just isn't capable of listening. You can give them the simplest kindergarten level explanation but you can just tell theyre only waiting for their turn to talk so they can keep on arguing. I've been actively looking for a positive interaction from someone that uses that phrase but haven't had one yet LMFAO. I actually get a kick out of these people and once I'm ready for the next call after 30-40 minutes I transfer them to an offshore agent with an accent so thick they can barely pronounce the company's name... Maybe they can make it make sense for you. This is just my observation... please DON'T give me advice on making it make sense

Why did they give us mini variety packs of cereal after visiting Santa Clause in the malls during the 90s and early 2000's?
I thought that this was something normal everywhere until I moved to Buffalo and mentioned it at work and my coworkers thought I crazy or just making it up. Was Kellogs or General Mills sponsoring mall Santas or something?
Does anybody else remember having to walk through the back of Tops almost into the employee breakroom and lockers to get to the bathroom before they got remodeled in the 2000's?
I definitely remember this being a thing in a few Rochester locations when I was a kid
