'Your application was viewed' only got this notification once

I've applied for 100+ 'easy apply' linkedin jobs and have always been in the first 12 hours. In the beginning, it was probably within the first 30 mins because I was constantly checking and now I check every now and then so within the first 2-3 hours and max 12 hours.

I got the 'Your application was viewed' notification only once. Does that seriously mean the other 99+ jobs weren't even viewed? Even though I always apply early?

Why is remote work not normalized here?

Genuinely want to know. Every other major metropolitan city has a mix of remote, hybrid and on-site roles. It's crazy how they expect you to go to work even when it's raining cats and dogs and roads are flooded.

Of course I only ask this for positions that make sense to do remotely. I've gone so many days in the office last week where I had 0 meetings and 0 interactions with my colleagues because we all communicate over Teams anyways.

When do you think the hybrid/remote work structure will become normalized?

Is my progress lost if I wait 6 months before my next session?

I had done 6 sessions of laser hair removal and then due to unforeseen circumstances, had to stop paying for them. My hair is growing back sparsely and thinly, but still there. I suspect I would’ve needed 12 in total overall since I’m a brown woman with thick hair.

It’s been around 6 months since the last time I went and now my situation is better.

If I start laser hair removal again, should I pay for 6 more sessions? Or 12 sessions since it’s been a while since my last one and it might be like starting all over?

Which employment platforms are best?

Where do you like to search for jobs? Has the NAFIS platform worked for anyone, or do you like websites like Bayt, Linkedin, etc.?

Directors don't want HR in the new branch: what's the best way to proceed? [N/A]

HR Coordinator in the UAE.

My company is located in Dubai, and we're opening a new branch in Abu Dhabi, which is 2 hours away. The Directors mentioned that due to budget cuts, there will not be any HR person operating in the new branch for a couple of months at least.

What are the best practices when it comes to this? Should I visit the Abu Dhabi branch once every 2 weeks? Which HR functions can I delegate to the managers and which ones should I absolutely save for myself with no manager involvement?

Is there any way I can extend support to the employees in the Abu Dhabi branch remotely? I know employees won't feel comfortable sharing grievances over a call or video chat. Should I just emphasize they can reach out to me anytime and try to build a rapport when I meet them?

How do I download all resumes from LinkedIn's 'Easy Apply' feature?

I've received hundred of applications on LinkedIn, but I want to send all the candidates who've applied a mass email inviting them for our Open Day. Is there a way for me to download all the applicants in one go rather than individually downloading AND saving (since LinkedIn doesn't let it go straight to your downloads tab)?

Thanks.

What is there to live for? Help me answer my partner's question

My bf recently told me that he's "one big event away from ending his shit", and big event refers to something like his mom dying. Since this is just a hypothetical, I just heard him out and didn't offer any words of advice. But I thought about what I would say if this 'big event' actually happened if we were married, and I was trying to convince him to keep living.

Once parents die, I guess other people keep on living for the sake of their children. Motivates them to keep trying, harder and harder. I can't ask him to live for me, that's kind of selfish and narcissistic. I feel like if I bring up things like travelling the world, our cat, etc. it would just seem so small, insensitive and futile in front of his mom dying.

What could I possibly say at that point? I'm a bit of a nihilist so I anyways have an indifference for life and can't hype it up too much even when it comes to me...

What salary increment would you switch companies for?

When a company asked me for my expected salary recently, I asked for +2500 dhs more since it's in Abu Dhabi and I'm based in Dubai. Usually, I ask for +2000 dhs more but my dad said I should've gone even higher and asked for +5000 dhs...

It got me thinking and I'm curious to know how much other people get when they switch roles? Would you leave for +1000? +2000? or double?

Edit: for context, I currently earn AED 10,000 so this would be a 25% increase. I’ve been working for 3.5 years. No clue what their budget is.

Is it just me or are mid-career jobs so much harder to land?

I remember when I had 0 UAE experience and was a fresher, there were plenty of internships and assistant level roles in my field. Now that I have almost 4 years of experience and am looking to switch companies, it's extremely hard to break into it. In fact, there's barely any openings even. But for managerial level roles, there's plenty of vacancies again that are being posted which I can't apply for.

Is it like this for everyone?

Do two column resumes really mess up ATS screening?

I know the structure is supposed to be simple, but I've heard certain two column templates can actually be ATS friendly. How can we spot which ones are not ATS friendly?

How to ask for a referral on LinkedIn without seeming desperate?

I connected with someone from a company that posted a job opening and surprisingly, THEY reached out to me asking me what it's like to work at my current company. We both shared insights and had a short chat but it fizzled out quite quickly.

Now, I want to ask her to refer me for the position but I don't want her to think I'm "using" her? Lmao I know I shouldn't care but is there a way to phrase the question naturally, and without seeming too desperate?

Resumes are supposed to be super short but job descriptions are super long? How to navigate this?

People always recommend your CV to be 1-2 pages long max and that it shouldn't be a repeat of your job descriptions. Rather, it should be about your achievements.

However, many job ads and descriptions mentioned there are super long and they mention a lot of specific responsibilities. I'm talking 4-5 sub headings and at least 4 bullet points under each one.

If I meet all those requirements but I'm not supposed to make my resume lengthy, how do I show the recruiter that I'm the right candidate?

Planning to visit a beach club for the first time! How does it work?

I wanted to visit Barasti beach club during the Eid holidays because I heard it’s free entry. I don’t mind paying fees if there are any as long as it goes towards food and drinks.

Will we be able to access the pool and cabanas with no problem? Is there parking nearby? Will there be showers/changing room inside?

I’m a girl and I’ll be going with a guy for reference.

Do you take supplements and if so, which ones have been the most helpful?

I've read recently that South Asian women tend to have iron deficiency, along with vitamin D deficiency.

I want to get supplements for those but also for Omega-3 and I'm worried if I'm doing too much lol. So do you take any of these supplements and which ones have you found to be the most helpful?

Where can I ‘chill’ for free in Dubai?

I want to hang out with my friends after work in Dubai, this way I can socialise and also avoid peak traffic hours to head home.

I like areas where we can get dinner at an affordable restaurant and then head to a free park/third space to just chill, walk and talk.

So far, areas that I like are:

- Barsha park, it has the food truck area nearby

- Oud Metha, many restaurants and small park nearby

- Alserkal Avenue, kinda pricey though but can spend some time at least

- Dubai creek harbour, nice views and areas to sit

Does anyone have better suggestions or areas I can check out? Thanks in advance!
