America cheese used at culvers
edit: American*
Does anyone know what brand of American cheese is used at restaurants like Culvers? I love adding cheese but when I make sandwiches at home, it never tastes the same.
Retirement advice after raise
I need a gut check.
I have been a teacher in my district for 6 years. When I started I put 6% of my income in a retirement account with a salary of $40,000. Every year I got a $1,250 raise and I increased my retirement contributions by 1%.
District matches up to 6%. It's a 401k, not pension system.
This year I would be making $48,000 and was going to increase my percent to 13%, but I got notified by the district that the payscale of my school isn't meeting the rest of the state and my salary is going to almost $60,000. (The result of a mass teacher exodus lol)
I am seriously considering not increasing my percent and just enjoying making a decent income for the first time in my life. 12% of 60,000 is already a lot and I wouldn't mind putting money in a HYSA for home improvements/repairs or travel. Thoughts?
Friends work is demanding she use AI but won't pay for it
Not sure if this is the right sub for this.
My friend is considering a career change that is all stemming from AI implementation. She works in data science and her company is pressuring her to use ClaudeCode in her job. They are making her attend all these trainings and meetings in person and online, even some sort of conference.
She is very against AI. But the worst thing is that when asked for how they are going to pay for the ClaudeCode subscription, her boss said that's not something that would be eligible to be covered? She needs to pay for it out of pocket. She's worried that the price will skyrocket once she is comfortable with it.
Any hobby sewers that couple help me out and make a little $?
I bought a summer dress on amazon -it's cute but too long. I want to try to hem it but would love some help by someone who has done anything like this before.
If someone who is a hobby sewer would be willing to meet up, maybe we could slice and sew it together?
Does it actually feel like there are more people here this weekend?
I'm in town for a cruise. I figured I would see the Boston pops show tonight. I don't feel like the city is overrun with tourists. I went to the Harvard Museum and had a wonderful time. The flowers and minerals were beautiful and there were times I was the only one in the exhibit room. I ended with Sunset on the Prudential Observation Deck which wasn't crowded.
This doesn't seem like anything more than big city vibes. For the hotel prices I figured everyone in the country was coming to Boston for the weekend. :-)
Does it feel like anything more than a typical summer weekend in Boston to you guys?
PS your Subway system is so easy to navigate! Best experience I've ever had.
I ranked some of my favorite games based on difficulty! How do you think I did, and where would you rank some of your favorites?
Some interesting addional info: I have about 1000 hours into Animal crossing, 220 into Silksong, and 250 hours into expedition 33. Games at the higher difficulty end tend to have fewer hours. Most of the newer games I have been playing are more difficult!
However, I think it would be very wrong to ever say "hard games are better" or "cozy games are better." I think most gamers have favorites across the spectrum!
Note that I ranked the difficulty on the overall game experience, not super bosses or challenges like Hollow Knight's God Home content.
Expedition 33 Subreddit Rule Update (WEEEEE!) - Photo Collections & Spoiler Tags
Due to the amount of AMAZING, INCREDIBLE, and FANTASTIC photomode images and albums being shared on the subreddit, we wanted to make sure all people scrolling their feed could enjoy them as easily as possible.
We have made a slight adjustment to Rule #1:
Photomode posts DO NOT need to be tagged as spoiler as long as two criteria are met:
A. Please put "SPOILER" or "Spoilers" in your title if there are any
B. Please do not put a spoiler heavy image as your first image
We have noticed a trend where posts following the rules and spoiler tagging their posts aren't nearly as well received as posts without spoiler tags. We hope this makes sharing your pictures more rewarding!
I made Chicago GO Fest Quizlet Flashcards
Please let me know if I need to update or edit anything in these cards, especially as go fest approaches/begins and we start to understand some of the "TBD" details.
GO Fest Chicago Quizlet Set - Flashcards for research and CP, event info, etc
I created some flashcards to help me remember what is all going on this weekend. Feel free to use them and definitely let me know if there are any errors.
What is the Chicago equivalent of Bryant Park for Pokemon GO?
When I was in NYC all the pokemon players were hanging out at Bryant Park. What is the chicago equivalent of this? Is there somewhere that players are anticipated to gather? I would expect Millenium park?
Too many knights
My husband meant to order a variety of Hollow Knight magic the gathering tokens but these arrived in the mail. Now we have an army.
The HK series has left a hole in my heart
I started gaming this past summer and decided to try the HK duo due to the infectious excitement for Silksong and overwhelming number of recommendations from friends.
HK took me 120 hours to get true ending at 106% completion.
I told myself I would take a break....and four hours later I was playing Silksong. That one was much harder, I hit a wall after about 90 hours, admitted defeat, and started a new save file. I was determined to "GIT GOOD!"
That second playthough lasted 109 hours and I hit 100% completion, true ending, 235/235 hunters journal. Something clicked.
Yes, that's right. Since last fall I have put 320 hours into these games. It was joy brought into my life every day. A beautiful world with an incredible story.
And now it's over. So I wanted to drop by and say how much fun I had, how amazing it was to explore these worlds, how I fought so many fights I never thought I would be able to beat.
Hornet first time: 6 hours in 3 days
Mantis Lords: 5.5 hours
>!The Radiance:!< 16 hours in 9 days
Widow: 4 hours in 3 days
>!Last judge:!< 5 hours in 3 days
>!Lost Lace:!< 9 hours in 4 days
Thank to this community and r/silksong for helping me escape deepnest when I got lost and helping my build to beat>!coral tower!<.
If you have other recommendations for wonderful games of any genre, I always appreciate it. I enjoyed expedition 33 and have Hades 2, Animal Well, and Ori and the Blind Forest on my to-play list installed.
Question about Silksong end game bosses and shards (spoilers)
I am doing a second playthrough of Silksong and Karmalita and the Clover dancers didn't use any tool shards.
In my first playthrough I only beat Nylith but I remember needing to take a break and farm shards. it's one of the main reasons I didn't finish the playthrough.
was this a quality of life update? Am I misremembering and it's always been like this? Is my game bugged? why aren't these "dream fights" using shards? Maybe I am misremembering and it was Seth that made me farm....
The concert is at 7:30 on Saturday 5/9 at Madison College's Mitby Theater. The concert will last about an hour (no intermission), and will be followed by a reception with treats.
If you have never attended a classical concert, this would be a great way to experience something new! It's low stakes, and this show will have a great variety of beloved favorites!!
What is this? Flair for ants?!
Sorry it's all soooo small. Enjoy it anyway!
The saga continues! We can add text to the flair BUT I'd like your input on what they should say!! https://www.reddit.com/r/expedition33/comments/1t2yi73/hilariously_small_flair_post_2_would_yall_like/
