Can Secret Service Agents invite whoever they want into the white house?

Right now I think all tours to the White House are closed due to the ballroom construction.

Have a buddy at work who knew someone who worked in the Obama administration and his friend got him into the West Wing of the White House and got into the Oval office.

From my understanding USSS agents are allowed to bring people on west wing tours of the White House under their discretion.

Is this still allowed or have rules been changed/modified?

Id buy a USSS agent lunch if anyone is able to offer a West Wing tour.

Tl;dr: Are USSS agents allowed to bring whoever they want into the White House?

Edit: i asked this question in the \\\[r/usssapplicant\\\] subreddit and got banned

Claims to property underwriting?

Hello. I have an interview for a property underwriter at a different insurance company than where I work now.

The job description says knowledge of ISO rating systems preferred and prior property UW experience preferred.

I am assuming i was picked for interview only because of my claims experience.

This is not a trainee uw role.

Would I be foolish to take this job if it gets offered? I don’t want to take it and drown from not being able to keep up. This is the nightmare scenario i have been playing in my head the past week. Is it a challenging job in general?

It says knowledge of iso rating forms is required. I don’t know what this is? Any thoughts or suggestions?

Underwriting at AXA

I have an interview for this role coming up and I’m wondering what your experience is working as a uw II for AXA?

I have no uw experience and would be coming from a different side of insurance.

Is there a steep learning curve?

How do you deal with parents not letting you travel?

I am a 27 year old male. I live at home to save money and I’m banking a lot of it.

I wanted to plan a trip to the Cook Islands in the fall but my mom will not let me go. She says I haven’t traveled enough to go that far.

I had planned a trip last year to go to Turkey but when the war in Iran broke out between Iran and Israel my mom made me cancel the trip.

I don’t know what to do. My mom is afraid I’m going o get kidnapped and raped.

I 27m can’t find a girlfriend!!

Ever since I was in college people have mistaken me for being gay.

I am skinny and not really tall just average hight but i am a little toned as i go to the gym regularly.

I have been on probably 10 or 11 first dates the past few years but I haven’t ever gotten to a second date.

I’ve never had a girlfriend and I feel like I was a largely ignored and overlooked by women when I younger and was in college.

How do you manage the resentment and anger that comes with being overlooked by the opposite sex your whole life?

It doesn’t feel good. And the thought of becoming more social and putting myself in more social circles makes my stomach churn at this age.

I don’t drink (in fact i have never had a drink) so the bar scene isn’t really my vibe. I live in the mid Atlantic area so I don’t live in a geographically difficult area to find women. I do have bumble and tinder but most the women i match with either ignore me or I don’t feel particularly attracted to. I feel like tinder and bumble doesn’t show my card to anyone in my league and I rarely have success on the apps anymore. Last year i went on a streak and got a handful of good dates but they all pan out after the first date and i don’t hear from them again.

Thoughts? 💭

Suggestions on landing a junior uw/trainee position?

Hello all!

I have a college degree in business admin and now coming up on the 4 year mark in claims. I have done well in my roles but looking to transition out as I feel i have had my fill of telling claimants and attorneys “no, you can’t have 50,000 for a sore back” I have been doing RBI claims for over a year and work in our department which is one step before litigation/legal.

So I don’t really know where else to look for UW trainee/junior UW roles however i have applied to literally around 100 junior UW/ UW trainee roles over the past year and I can’t even get past screening. You name a company i have applied there.

I’ve applied to basically every UW trainee program you can think of.

And what the real kicker is all these roles would require me to take a $30,000 pay cut and i would lose all the PTO benefits i have earned the past few years so it’s like… i can’t even get an interview for a job where I would have to take a massive hit. It’s just becoming increasingly discouraging and I don’t know if i should just stay on the path I am on or try UW.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I’m 28 and I’m trying to determine if it’s even worth it anymore.

For what it’s worth i also have been applying to Sr claims roles at other carriers which would come with a big pay bump but so far mixed success. Some carriers will get back to me to say they are reviewing my resume some reject me and then some i just never hear back from.

Thoughts?

Edit:

I don’t “hate” my job by any means but I just feel like I am at a crossroads where I have to ask myself if i want to be doing this when i am in my 50s/60s and increasingly the answer seems to be no especially when the pay ceiling in underwriting appears to be double what I make now. I just feel stuck.

I feel so much mentally sharper after eating dark chocolate!

I \[27m\] don’t know what it is but my productivity energy and mood increases the day after i eat an ounce of dark chocolate. 🍫

It’s amazing.

Logistically how difficult is it to get to Bora Bora?

I am trying to plan a trip to Bora Bora in October but logistically I am having trouble working this out.

I would have to fly from the east coast to san francisco (or LA) and then fly United from San Fran (or LA) to Tahiti.

The problem that I’m having is i only have an hour of time in between my flight to San Fran and when United departs from San Fran to Tahiti.

Rain delay? Miss your trip. Maintenance needed on the first plane? Miss your trip. Etc…

The only solution would be to fly in to CA the night before the flight but at that rate I don’t know if it’s worth it.

There are plenty of places i haven’t been that i could substitute. Thoughts?

Sports diplomacy questions.

When foreign athletes need to come to the US to compete in an event and are not from a B1/B2 tourist visa “exempt” country (Europe), are these athlete’s applications given special preferences?

I’m thinking of members of countries not friendly to the US such as the Iran team. Who grants visas to allow them into the US to play? Is there a specialized group at State that works on this?

Serious question is Scott a citizen of the UK or just living there on a visa?

Recently listened to Pivot and Scott mentioned he was an anchor baby here in the US. Mom was from Canada.

He kinda skated around Kara’s questions.

Is Scott a Canadian, UK, and US citizen?

Side note is Ed Elson a US citizen? Isn’t he from the UK?

FSO’s in tropical destinations.

For example the consular office in Tahiti, do you fly to Bora Bora every weekend to visit?

Is this a super had destination to get?

I want to become an FSO and then start going to all the islands. I’m an island person myself.

Best insurance companies to work for?

I am currently an adjuster at Progressive Insurance and I think I’ve reached my limit.

I was talking to a co worker about how a new hire was brought in just under my salary and now I feel like if i test the market I could probably be making 15-20,000 more than what i currently make ($86,000) [total pay after year end bonus].

I do injury negotiations with injured third parties. I find Progressive to be an okay place to work… nothing to write home about.

I’m mainly looking to get out of claims and transfer into underwriting but I can’t afford a $20,000 paycut that comes with moving to a new entry level uw role so I feel stuck in many ways.

I was looking at AON’s website and a few others and I noticed that their benefits are not as great as Progressive. I get roughly 35 days a year for PTO and both AON and Chubb only give like 15 or 20 but the difference is they pay about 20,000 more for similar claims roles than what i make now.

Thoughts? Do i move to a new claims role with a pay bump or bite the bullet and try to go into underwriting with maybe a pay cut?

I’m 27 and living with parents.

I just feel fed up with Progressive without airing all my grievances here the company has some major flaws and they like to dump on their adjusters. I’m done being the doormat.

Flew into Bermuda for 5 days to sit on the beach and discovered my new favorite place! 🇧🇲

Bermuda will ruin all future beaches you visit. 😆 As someone who has been to hundreds of nice beaches Bermuda has the best. Hands down. It’s not even close.

Will be returning.

Wouldn’t recommend for budget travelers to be honest. Everything is 10x more expensive than NYC other than that the people are wonderful.

I enjoyed my time and now I’m wondering why it took so long to get here. It’s a relatively easy flight from the east coast but there are only a few cities that fly directly to Bermuda so I can see it being a harder place to get to. I was shocked at the lack of tourists I saw while I was there. Even on the more crowded beach Horseshoe Bay I still felt like I basically had the whole beach to myself.

  1. Warwick Long Bay
  2. Horseshoe Bay
  3. Horseshoe Bay Cliff
  4. Admiralty Park
  5. Tobacco Bay Cliffs
  6. St Georges Harbor
  7. Warwick Long Bay
  8. Crystal Cave
  9. Front Street Hamilton

Microsoft Teams on my phone keeps crashing when i enter my password.

Hi. I work for an insurance company and was recently overseas (Bermuda) communicating with my boss. I just got back from a lavish trip with lots of beach time.

Anyways, I got locked out of my Teams app and Teams wanted me to re enter my pin. I tried a few different pins but must have put in the wrong one because Teams locked me out and wanted me to completely aign back in again. I tried deleting the Teams app and reinstalling and then when I try to get into my account I am getting an error message that says “your organization is now protecting its data in this app” and the app crashed when i enter my password.

What to do? So frustrating i need access to my Teams lol.
