Can I start a new job while still working on a winding down business to collect severance (details inside)

The division of my company is being shut down and we will all be laid off with severance starting October 1.

In advanced talks with another company for a position and if it goes well, I'd be starting 9/15 (they were the ones who wanted the late start).

By that point, I won't really have any work to do. I'm thinking about starting the job while not telling my old employer so I can still collect severance. My current boss won't care and I'm working remote since they announced the shut down.

My only concern would be...is there anyway for the current company to realistically find out? I'm in the US if that makes a difference.

Are custom audiences (creating them) not working for anyone else?

I had no issue first thing this AM but since then it's stuck on an infinite loop when I try to load a video to create a remarketing pool. Tried different browsers, clearing cache, etc.

Recommendations for good floor installers that are reasonably priced? (nassau)

Need a subfloor repaired, carpet taken out, and hardwood floor installed for a large bedroom + upstairs area.

Also a couple of bathroom floor tiles are cracked and likely need that replaced

I created what I feel is the best / most accurate way to measure Influencer performance (specific to sales attribution & brand health)

Shameless self-plug, but figured this might be something people find useful.

I've been working in the social media space for 18+ years (with over 11 years focused on creator marketing) and I've always felt that social / Influencer was lacking in terms of measurement in comparison to other media channels such as paid social, display, CTV, etc. This is especially true when it comes to measuring organic.

When it comes to analyzing sales or leveraging solutions like brand and sales lift, there is an overreliance on the paid social portion of a campaign, but organic and paid audiences are completely different and I feel strongly that you need to measure them separately to gauge the true impact of performance.

I've launched a measurement suite specific to the creator space that I feel does a better job of measuring sales, sales lift and brand health metrics (i.e. brand lift, favorability, consideration, purchase intent, etc.) than any of the other solutions out there and I've priced it out for a fraction of the cost that they do.

Here's the general overview of what my solution does:

  • Sales Attribution: Ability to measure actual sales from both organic and paid, attributed to a specific post. This is inclusive of non e-commerce sites like CPG. I'm also able to breakout sales by behaviors - meaning I'm able to see how engagements vs. video completions are impacting sales better.
  • Brand Lift: Natural exposure methodology (not forced), broken out by paid and organic and at the creative level. I can also break it out by audience and behaviors.
  • Real-Time Brand Lift: Taking the approach above and running brand lift on a more real-time basis to inform any paid media optimizations you want to make (i.e. optimizing ads by consideration instead of CTR)
  • Sales Lift: Again, paid and organic segmented and broken out on the creative level.

The bigger guys like Kantar, Nielsen, among many others are crazy expensive and they don't focus on social measurement with their solutions - or they say they do but the methodology is antiquated, which was a driving factor in me creating something.

If you're interested in knowing more feel free to send me a message!

Any good AI tools that can extract the audio and visual elements of a video?

Looking to layer this on with other tech for creative intelligence.

Today is one of the worst days I've seen with performance in a while. Anyone else?

It's only 9:45am my time but I can't remember the last time I saw the morning perform this poorly. Yesterday too wasn't great.

Recs for companies who can fix a subfloor? In Bellmore

Getting new flooring and need to fix broken sub-flooring in 3 spots. Ideally someone you’ve used who isn’t too expensive

Feeling good about an SVP offer at Dentsu (US) but wife is pregnant.

She’s due in December, but I’d plan on taking the bulk of my leave starting in February when she goes back to work.

Couple of questions for those who work / worked there

* When would be the best time to tell them? Hesitant to do it before I start in case there’s an off chance they rescind it but want to be respectful and not have them feel like I’m hiding it from them.

* Heard they have 4 months paternity leave and I’d love to take the whole thing but is there a chance they’d hold that against me if I haven’t been there for a year yet? I’ve heard horror stories about people getting fired for this stuff (even though it’s illegal)

I'm a solo entrepreneur working under a brand name that provides B2B services to national brands. What do I register my business under?

Kind of lost if if it's a DBA or LLC and what the costs would look like.

It makes sense to do it under a brand name vs. my own name and won't be just providing services in my local area.

Are there any tools that can track how video views or engagements (not clicks) are impacting transactions outside of lift-based methodologies?

For example, someone views a creator video and then the next day goes to purchase online or in-store.

Right now, I've been using Meta and TikTok's audience overlap tool to estimate based on creating custom audiences and seeing how 1P data overlaps with that but not sure if existing tools exist.

Has anyone been using Meta’s MCP with Claude or another LLM? How has your experience been?

Been hesitant to use it because they were banning accounts using Claude only a few weeks ago and I imagine this eats through tokens like crazy but curious if anyone has used it successfully

Spouse was trying to repair a stuck showerhead (by replacing the part). We’re both unable to attach the new one or reattach the old one. Any advice?
