Hello you guys probably get 101 kimono rental asks ever day but I need help 💔
It will be my first time in Japan in October, I am super super excited! We’re spending ~8 days in and around Tokyo! We (my family) were meant to go in 2021 but due to covid we couldn’t, but I’m buzzing that we’re going now! It’s for my 16th as I would never really have a party and also because it’s just something my family have wanted to do for a while
Anyway, onto my actual question 😭
As I said it’s my first time in Japan, we are planning to go to kamakura as it’s close enough to Tokyo via train, I want to do a kimono rental with the RikaWafuku company and I am honestly really nervous, I’m okay at home but when I’m on holiday I get massive anxiety about causing a fuss and getting in the way of locals, I’ve read loads of things about the kimono rentals being encouraged to tourists and they’re a must do but I’m curious if it actually bothers people? Because any time I talk to anyone about it their immediate reaction is “oh…uhm” and pulling the cultural appro priation (why does this sever block that?) card and I’m worried that they’re right :(
Also I’m kinda scared of ruining the kimono in some way like they’re super pretty and what if I get food on them?? Aaa
I could yap about this a lot I’m sorry guys but would an orange one be good for the season? Also the rikawafuku rentals are only ~$45 for hair included, all the reviews are great but I’m worried that’s too cheap 😭
Also half of the companies posts are in English but I’m worried about if they don’t? Would google translate be efficient? Also will the staff give advice because I don’t want to make a fool of myself lol
