This find gave me the feels. Vintage A&W mug.
My parents or grandparents had mini mugs for us at home, and they would buy the root beer in gallon jugs and bring it home, and then we would make root beer floats.

The tools are a cordless drill with a low speed setting, Harbor Freight Tools headlight restoration kit, a soft rag, and masking tape.
Photos of the tools and the appearance after each step will be in my replies. Sorry that the order is reversed in the replies. 500 grit first, 800 next, 1200 next! Polishing compound last. About a minute for each
All 4 Casio watches were 3$ each and the Timex was 9$
Thanks to the kind folks n this sub, I was able to get this old watch a new life. Traded out the springy strap for a NATO that I had spare that seemed to match the 70’s vibe. Electronics cleaner helped; dislodged a hair the size of an eyelash that was inside the mechanism somewhere and loosened up the lubricants in the mechanism.
This silver colored plastic trim on the steering wheel seems oversized compared to the mating piece on the back size, particularly on the edge inside the “hole”. I tend to put my left hand index finger in there while highway cruising, and the mismatch seems to also be right on a mold part line (injection molding terminology) and wondering: can this piece be removed easily, and has anyone sanded down that inside edge?
What’s the best product Outbackers use to restore some dark color to the rear bumper “scratch guard”?
I have a habit of buying jeans “of a time” at thrift stores. These NWT Lrg “geans” (sic), were hanging on a rack locally and my first thought was “What an abomination!!” and then I bought them. The fabric is quite stiff, 100% cotton, black denim, and the assembly country of origin is shown as China. How does one know if it is raw denim?
I’m just not sure they are a good match. I like the OEM wheels better (included for reference).
I know BBS are vaunted and highly sought after. How much would I be looking to spend if I had someone strip these and go with a silver or gunmetal?
EDIT: thanks to fellow subredditor I'm all set. Secret was in the Arrow tool context menu for this particular 'cutout' for the black field.
Scenario: I want a simple shape filled black, and then want to make a certain single ended “boxy” arrow on another layer that is white, over top of the black shape.
What I’ve seen as recommended process for the symmetric shape is to make half of it via lines and curves, and then in the Vector menu create a symbol from the curves, then duplicate the symbol layer. Move the duplicate layer so it’s adjacent to the original symbol layer along the symmetry line, and flip the copy horizontal or vertical. Then fill each with white.
Arrow tool defaults to a double ended arrow (and I’m too much of a newbie to see any other arrow types available in the tool), and when I try the method above, I end up with a visible non-white center line in the arrow.
It’s probably something obvious I’m missing. Affinity subredditors, what am I doing wrong? I would like the arrow to be a mask of sorts so that it’s actually colorless in png format. This is part of a logo, that won’t always be against a white background. The black with the arrow shape removed is all that I want to export out of affinity.
BTW I have zero adobe illustrator experience. The last vector art program I used daily was Corel Draw way back in the 1990’s.
New LED yellow lamps are brighter than the old ones. I drive with the fog lamps on always, just to help,my visibility to other drivers. US front pedestrian crumple zones haven’t helped with driver recognition of lower profile vehicles in adjacent lanes (my opinion - no data that I know of to support my opinion). I might go for some LED based side marker lamps as well.
2021 325ci vert fog lamps. One of my yellow LED bulbs died. Got a harbor freight restoration kit for free in a curb alert pickup, decided to give it a try. Sequence of photos is cleaned off original condition, after 500, 800, 1200, and rubbing compound treatment from kit. Did not remove lens assembly from bracket because of worry of the bracket cracking. Did a great job removing exterior imperfections, interior fogging still there. FYI, the kit works great on plastic watch crystals as well.
There’s ancient 25 year old slime in there, colored likely from the orange dyed washer fluid I have used over time. My question is how to de slime it; get all of that crud out of there? I have half a mind to get some tumbling de-burring stones(or even rinsed off gravel from my yard) , some baking soda, and water and slosh all that around for 20 minutes and thoroughly rinse afterward. I would take the level sensor out first, and plug the pump suction hole and level sensor hole first of course.
I have several Seiko quartz watches from the late 70’s and early 80’s with a 7546 movement in them that just needed new batteries to start up and “keep on ticking” to borrow part of the the Timex catchphrase. I have no experience with what is probably a 50 year old Timex quartz watch. I LOVE the wear and patina on this and the case shape. What’s the Timex fam’s experience here on this Le of a Timex quartz watch?
Dead Battery. Nearly all the analog watches in the spinner locked case had dead batteries. I don’t care for the strap on this. Will likely replace with a NATO or Paratrooper of some type. Gotta think about what would match the forest green resin case.
I got two of these watches for 1$ each at Walmart. I don’t abide resin straps. Been converting many of my watches to paratrooper straps. This was called a parachute strap on AliExpress. The size adjustment is wonkier than paratrooper straps. We shall see how this goes. One thing I haven’t been able to figure out is how to get the digital display to show day and date. Yes I have German spelling selected. The 2 digit number to the right is seconds. I want date there. Spent about 6 bucks on AliExpress, including collection of spring pins that span the lug widths of all of my watches.
Yes I currently have them turned off at the vent, as they will heat, rather than cool, right now. Is there a particular fuse or breaker or vacuum line or actuator motor that would put the passenger side air through the evaporator part of the air circuit?
I have a problem leaving useful things to be alone and unloved.
There were American Goldfinches, Lesser Goldfinches, and streaky chested sparrows of a couple different sizes for which I don’t have good photos.
We get them very rarely in our back yard, and I always have to look them up!.
Sorry for the washed out photo. Taken through a double paned sliding door at a pretty severe angle
Single temperature zone HVAC control head. Passenger airflow through center and passenger panel vents non functional. With only a single temperature control, why would one side not work? Are there airflow actuators for driver and passenger side panel airflow, even though it’s a single zone controller?
