photographed the sun’s reflection in a soft halo around the striped stone i found on the beach today.
early 1900s photo postcards featuring the same port. supposedly somewhere in south or east asia.
hallmark ID?
bid a lot of six spoons labeled ‘plated’ on a sneaking suspicion that one is an imposter. a neighbouring labeled ‘sterling’ lot with a mustard pot climbed to $110. i got this for just under $10 cad.
pickup is only saturday, and i’m sitting impatiently, wanting to confirm my suspicions.
from the extensive engraving, to the well-polished hallmarks that do not reveal a base metal, it has to be english sterling in my mind! i’m also realizing one hallmark may be partially cropped at far right, so 3-4 somewhat visible hallmarks in total.

anyone familiar with antique trade beads? local auction has several lots with good starting bid, but would love to hear a second opinion before proceeding.
at a glance the chevron beads look suspiciously pristine, but the small scattered beads seem to have the right wear for their supposed age. the necklace seems like a mix, but i can’t ID the ‘chinese’ carved bone/metal capped beads online.

THE MYSTERY RINGS.
local auction has these listed in a mixed lot. obviously not easy to tell definitively from the one photo, but do the marks/styles look at all familiar to those with experience in collecting or selling old pieces? most curious about the two ‘gold’ rings at the top and the ‘art deco’ one to the right. there’s quite a high bid already, so the assumption is there’s something there. thankful for any insight.
