Paid (a lot) extra for next day air shipping, and delivery got delayed, and package is now scheduled to arrive 3 full days after ordering. Is there anything I could do about getting a refund or something?

I'm wondering if they would be willing to issue any sort of refund for this, because I placed an order midday Monday and paid almost $30 extra to get it delivered on Tuesday, and now it's scheduled to arrive Thursday. If I knew it was gonna take three days I woulda just paid $5 for normal shipping...

On the August 4th trade deadline, the Mets cleaned house and got rid of a huge chunk of their major league roster. Since then, they've been one of the best offenses in baseball

In the entirety of MLB, they are:

1st in fWAR

1st in wRC+

1st in wOBA

1st in SLG

1st in HR

1st in ISO

2nd in R

Did the Guardians ever get a player from Toronto for Myles Straw?

Straw was traded for a PTBNL in January 2025. That was 20 months ago and I can't find any info on who or what the Jays actually sent in return. Do you think they're just hoping Cleveland will forget?

Jorge Polanco, signed by the Mets to replace Pete Alonso, is hitting .131/.191/.196 with 1 home run. A wRC+ of 10 and -1.2 WAR

Especially given the context of letting PETE ALONSO walk for this, this is easily the worst signing in franchise history, and I'll never get over it

Last summer, a struggling Francisco Alvarez was sent to AAA for a brief stint. Since coming back up, he's had 399 PA. Here's where he ranks among MLB catchers in that stretch

There are 27 MLB catchers who have had 350+ PA since 7/21/25. Among them, Alvarez ranks:

* 3rd in wRC+ (133)

* 7th in BA (.267)

* 5th in OBP (.348)

* 4th in SLG (.489)

* 6th in xwOBA (.345)

* 8th in fWAR (3.0) - but behind seven guys with more PA. His fWAR/650 ranks 5th (4.9)

I've seen a lot of people dumping on Alvarez this season, calling him a bust in postgame threads and often getting upvoted for it, and it boggles my mind. He is a 24 year old catcher with a 121 wRC+ this season, after a 124 wRC+ last year at age 23. He's been arguably a top 5 catcher in the game over the past calendar year - easily at least top 5 offensive catcher. He's exactly what we hoped he would be as a top prospect. Idk if people need him to hit like Mike Piazza to be satisfied with his production, but I'd just like to put out this PSA that Francisco Alvarez is, in fact, very good.

(PS: I've seen a LOT of repeated complaints about his GIDP numbers. I would like to encourage everyone to look at the all-time career and single season GIDP leaderboards, cause you'll see a LOT of all stars and hall of famers and hopefully realize that it's not remotely an indictment on his value or ability.)

How do I switch back to showing the album art instead of the lyrics?

I had to delete and redownload the app and now it's showing the lyrics in place of the album cover, but I can't find anything in the settings to change this. I already turned off music videos and looping visuals.

If the new game had used current pro players from each team, here's who I think they should've picked

I'm bored at work and was playing BYB 01 on my phone and it got me wondering who I'd pick if they did this for the 2026 teams.

NYY- Aaron Judge (10 batting, 5 running, 2 pitching, 8 fielding) - bit of an obvious pick. He's one of the faces of MLB and having a super tall kid version of him in the BYB art style would be funny.

TOR- Vladimir Guerrero Jr (8 batting, 3 running, 5 pitching, 7 fielding) - despite his down year this year, he seems like a no-brainer, he's the face of the Blue Jays and his dad was in the original games.

BAL- Pete Alonso (8 batting, 4 running, 5 pitching, 5 fielding) - maybe I'm just biased, but I think Pete has major Backyard Baseball energy. I know he's new to the O's but he was their big offseason signing, a super recognizable player, and probably their best player.

BOS- Sonny Gray (4 batting, 6 running, 9 pitching, 6 fielding) - this was honestly one of the harder teams to choose for, but I think Sonny also has sort of a Backyard Sports vibe, his name sounds like the name of BYB announcer Sunny Day, he's been around forever, and you gotta get a few pitchers in there. I was also considering Rafaela, Contreras, and Abreu.

TBR- Junior Caminero (9 batting, 5 running, 5 pitching, 6 fielding) - he's their big slugger, HRD participant, and his first name is Junior. Need I say more?

CHW- Munetaka Murakami (7 batting, 4 running, 6 pitching, 4 fielding) - he's been sort of the face of the resurgent White Sox. They don't have many huge superstars or any obvious pick, and I think he'd be the most fun. Why'd I give him 6 pitching? I dunno. Frank Thomas was always a nasty pitcher in these games, maybe Mune could carry the torch.

CLE- Jose Ramirez (8 batting, 7 running, 5 pitching, 8 fielding) - face of the franchise for years. Who else could it be? He'd be a good well-rounded type player.

MIN- Byron Buxton (7 batting, 9 running, 4 pitching, 9 fielding) - very similar circumstances to J-Ram. Also good to get a high defense/speed guy in the mix here, it's been mostly slugging 1B so far.

DET- Tarik Skubal (3 batting, 5 running, 10 pitching, 6 fielding) - could be this era's BYB Randy Johnson. The type of guy you pick for every team and just let him throw every inning. Part of me wanted to pick Javy Baez, though. Just cause.

KCR - Bobby Witt Jr (8 batting, 9 running, 3 pitching, 10 fielding) - lowkey could be the best player on this list. He's the Royals lone superstar, and he gets a buff from being a Junior. Easy choice.

TEX - Jacob deGrom (7 batting, 3 running, 9 pitching, 4 fielding) - 7 batting, because he's a former college SS and I remember his 2021 season. Also considered Joc Pederson here, because he's got a Backyard Baseball face.

SEA - Julio Rodriguez (8 batting, 8 running, 2 pitching, 8 fielding) - another good all-around type player to provide some balance to the pool.

HOU - Yordan Alvarez (10 batting, 4 running, 5 pitching, 4 fielding) - I considered picking Altuve - he's also got major BYB vibes - but Yordan would be too good to pass up here.

ATH - Shea Langeliers (7 batting, 5 running, 5 pitching, 8 fielding) - I wanted to pick Nick Kurtz, but like I said, I've already picked so many slugging 1B, and we don't have a single catcher yet.

LAA - Mike Trout (8 batting, 8 running, 3 pitching, 8 fielding) - a bit of a legacy pick, but also unc's still got it. And who the hell else do they have?

ATL - Ronald Acuna Jr (9 batting, 9 running, 4 pitching, 7 fielding) - the Braves had a LOT of potential options here - Chris Sale, Michael Harris, Matt Olson - but Ronald's a former MVP and, end of the day, when you can choose a Junior, you do.

PHI - Bryce Harper (8 batting, 7 running, 6 pitching, 6 fielding) AND Kyle Schwarber (10 batting, 2 running, 4 pitching, 2 fielding) - in Backyard Baseball 03, the Yankees had both Derek Jeter and Jason Giambi. I simply couldn't pick between Harper and Schwarber. They're both perfect fits for this game. Schwarbombs would go absolutely crazy in Steele Stadium.

MIA - Otto Lopez (7 batting, 9 running, 4 pitching, 10 fielding) - I also strongly considered Sandy, but I think Lopez is the Marlins star moving forward, so I'd go with him - again, good to get another good defender in the mix here too.

WSN - James Wood (9 batting, 5 running, 6 pitching, 4 fielding) - he's their best player, what else can I say?

NYM - Francisco Lindor (7 batting, 8 running, 6 pitching, 10 fielding) - I almost made the Mets a double-represented team as well, because it feels weird leaving Soto off here. But Lindor also has SUCH strong Backyard Baseball energy, I couldn't not pick him.

MIL - Jacob Misiorowski (3 batting, 6 running, 10 pitching, 5 fielding) - The Miz already looks like a Backyard Baseball kid.

CHC - Pete Crow-Armstrong (6 batting, 10 running, 5 pitching, 10 fielding) - PCA already looks like a Backyard Baseball kid.

PIT - Paul Skenes (4 batting, 6 running, 9 pitching, 5 fielding) - Would be weird to see him without the stache, but he's the obvious pick for Pittsburgh.

STL - Jordan Walker (8 batting, 6 running, 4 pitching, 5 fielding) - another sort of tough choice between a couple players (Wetherholt, Herrera) but I think the HRD win pushes Walker over the edge.

CIN - Elly De La Cruz (7 batting, 10 running, 5 pitching, 9 fielding) - another super obvious one - face of the franchise, big BYB energy, fun name, etc.

LAD - Shohei Ohtani (10 batting, 8 running, 9 pitching, 5 fielding) AND Freddie Freeman (8 batting, 5 running, 4 pitching, 7 fielding) - okay, Shohei might actually break Backyard Baseball if he ever gets put in the game. But, to be fair, he also breaks Major League Baseball. I only gave him 5 fielding just to make it at least a little bit balanced. I also really wanted Freddie to get in the game (big BYB energy, etc) so the Dodgers can also have 2 representatives. They are the 2x defending champs, after all, it's only fair - I mean, the Phillies get two and they haven't won anything recently.

ARI - Corbin Carroll (7 batting, 10 running, 4 pitching, 9 fielding) - he's basically real-life Pete Wheeler, albeit (I assume) a bit smarter.

SDP - Fernando Tatis Jr (7 batting, 8 running, 6 pitching, 8 fielding) - you can basically just copy/paste what I wrote about Vlad Jr. here. The Junior buff puts him over the edge.

SFG - Rafael Devers (7 batting, 5 running, 3 pitching, 5 fielding)- I was a bit torn between him and Logan Webb, but I think we have enough pitchers on the list already. Also strongly considered Arraez. I could be persuaded here.

COL - Hunter Goodman (8 batting, 4 running, 6 pitching, 8 fielding) - we round out the list with our second catcher, and another very obvious pick. Goodman is easily the Rockies' best player, and I believe BYB 01 and 03 each had two catchers, so he's a perfect fit.

What do you guys think? Any major disagreements? I would really love to see this game use a bunch of modern players again like it did back in the day.

Longshot, but I'm trying to find a specific beer for sale in Philly

I am searching far and wide for Flying Fish Brewing Company's blueberry honey ale "Blueberry Braggot." A few years ago I used to buy it at the south street Whole Foods but they no longer carry it. I have checked a few different random beer places but haven't had any luck so far. Anyone have any leads or ideas?

Cat has developed an insatiable hunger to play with string, and now cries constantly if we aren't playing with him

Marble is about 22/23 months old, and is a very, very playful cat. Which is usually fine, we've been able to keep him entertained and busy, and he plays with our other cat sometimes too. He also goes through phases of being obsessed with different specific toys, like his tube, or balls of tin foil, or whatever.

But the last couple days, hes discovered the joy of playing with a dangly piece of string. The problem is that he's OBSESSED. It's become literally all he wants. We spent all day yesterday playing on and off with him, dangling the string for him, and he'd go crazy. But the second we stop playing, he starts crying and mewing, and does not stop until we play with him again.

He's never reacted this way to a toy before, and it's stressing us out a bit, because he seems genuinely distressed, and we don't know what to do, other than play with the string, but we can't do it nearly as often as he wants to - I'm not exaggerating when I say it's every moment he's not playing with the string, he is crying.

I know it sounds a bit silly, but it is bothering us. Has anyone else ever had a cat this obsessed with a toy before? How can we handle it?

Serious question: is Delaware/Columbus Ave intentionally designed so that you hit every single red light?

This post is about 20% complaining and 80% genuinely curious. It's so consistent that it actually feels improbable that it would be a coincidence. Not to mention they're the longest red lights I've ever seen, I swear it takes 45 minutes to drive 3 miles down this street.

Are there examples of players who were highly-ranked prospects, struggled in the minors, but ended up being quality major league players?

I was thinking this about Ronny Mauricio recently, who was a well-touted prospect but never really put up good minor league numbers, and has struggled quite a bit in the majors. Mickey Moniak, though, is having a good season and is looking like he might be an example of someone who came out the other side - he was taken 1-1 and was initially a top 20 prospect but was pretty bad in the minors and fell off the rankings, has struggled for years, but is off to a great start with a 134 wRC+, coming off a solid 110 last year. Are there any other examples of players like this who stuck?

Bought this weird kind of geek bar I'd never seen before and it keeps not hitting...am I missing something with it?

Fully charged, it worked fine for a few minutes out the box and now just won't hit. I keep messing with the switch and the button but nothing seems to be working. Did I just get a dud or am I doing something wrong

(iOS) Has replying to comments vs replying to a thread become really buggy and annoying for anyone else on mobile?

By that I mean, trying to reply to a specific comment versus just replying to the thread in general. It constantly glitches out and makes me do the opposite of what I want to do. And god help me if you start replying to a comment, but want to actually reply to the thread, you basically have to close out of the app and go back to the thread to leave a base comment, otherwise it just keeps making you reply to the comment. It's become unnecessarily confusing and complicated. I'm not sure if I'm explaining this well, maybe I'll try to get a screen recording of what I mean.

Instagram really needs to add a confirmation for reposting something

It's wayyyy too easy to accidentally repost something. Also easy to do it and not notice. The buttons are small, right next to the comment and like buttons, and it barely gives any visual indication when you have reposted something. They just need to add a little "repost?" confirmation popup like pretty much every other social media site does. I'm always worried I'm gonna somehow accidentally repost something embarrassing 🥴
