I hate people who tell ex-vegans ‘you were never vegan, you were just plant-based’

I’m typing this as someone who’s eaten meat all my life, but when I see vegans say this in response to someone else saying they’re not vegan anymore, it drives me insane. When you see someone renounce their Christianity, would you tell them ‘you were never Christian if you don’t believe in it anymore’? No, you wouldn’t, because it makes you sound like a pedantic asshole. ‘But veganism is a belief, not a diet’ someone can hold vegan beliefs and transition later on in their life? That doesn’t mean they didn’t believe in vegan values, just that they don’t align with them later on in their life as they once had. That doesn’t mean that in the period that they were vegan it doesn’t count anymore. In the same vein, you could argue no vegan food exists, because food can’t believe in veganism. Therefore, food can only be plant-based, but nobody fucking says that.

Idk if I’m silly for being upset about this

I baked something for my flatmates last night and it’s all been eaten so I asked in the groupchat if they liked what I baked and I’ve been left on delivered by most of the people in the groupchat. I feel really upset because the ingredients were really expensive and nobody could even reply to my text to tell me that they liked what I made 🥲. I’m quite introverted so I haven’t talked to my flatmates much but it feels like every time I say anything in the group chat I get ignored, and when I do nice gestures they get ignored too. I bought cookies that I didn’t like about a week ago and left them in the kitchen and said people could eat them but nobody acknowledged my message/thanked me and yet they were all eaten anyway. I feel like I’m crazy for thinking it’s weird that nobody shows any gratitude towards me, but maybe I’m just overthinking it 💔

Does anyone else ever see people doing 10k calorie challenges and thinking you could crush it easily?

I’m on TikTok and I saw a video of a guy eating 3 trays of cinnamon buns, and if I was in that room and given 30 minutes, I could get through it all. It’s lowkey hilarious and kinda sad to me that, when I see someone struggling doing a high calorie challenge, I just think ‘that would be so easy for me’. It’s a terrible way of thinking, but it’s honestly the truth. I really could eat a 3lb burrito. I really could eat 300 pieces of sushi. I envy people who would actually struggle to eat that kind of stuff

Binged after 50 days binge free

About two days ago, I binged on 5k calories. The day after I ate 1.5k calories (a deficit) and today at 2am I binged approximately ≈2k calories (which isn’t terrible, but it’s literally my maintenance calories all in one). I don’t really feel upset about it though. I’ve come to accept that binging is simply a part of the process, and there have been many times where I fought off a binge. To be honest, it was going to happen eventually, so I’m not really mad at myself for anything. I think for the coming week, I’m just gonna eat at maintenance then resume on my deficit to prevent any more binges. It sucks that my streak ended, but nothing more than that really. It was never going to be a linear journey, and I’m not disappointed in myself 🤷‍♀️

My parents unintentionally contributed to my binging problem

Part of the reason I struggle so much now with eating a reasonable amount of food is because my mom would make GARGANTUAN amounts of food. Even today, she used the entire pack of pasta (500g) to make probably about ≈3kg of food. Me, my sister, and her are the only people who eat her food. It’s just an absurd amount of food for the amount of people who live in the house. Along with that, when I was a child and I was finished eating, my dad would get mad if I didn’t finish my plate. It was probably well meaning, I’m guessing he just wanted me to appreciate my mom’s cooking, but now I struggle with fullness cues as a result :/. There’s so much food waste in my house that I can’t keep up with because my parents buy so much food that nobody even eats and it makes me so upset that I can’t eat it all before it gets wasted. Virtually my whole immediate family is obese/overweight because of my parent’s attitude surrounding food. Growing up, I was barely ever allowed to have candy, snacks, anything akin to what my schoolmates were getting when I was about 6-11 years old. Then when I started getting my own allowance, I would blow all my money on all the food my parents never let me buy. I would eat huge portions of candy, chocolate, cookies because my parents would never buy them for us and would literally hide snacks away from us and we’d have to ask for permission to have some 😭 I know it was probably to help us be healthier, but I wish the attitude that unhealthy snacks are a ‘special thing’ would be eradicated, because it just contributed to a poor relationship with food on my part. I don’t want to say it’s entirely my parent’s fault I struggle with binging, but that some of their behaviours definitely contributed

Struggling with binging makes being in a calorie deficit so much more gratifying

I’m 38 days binge free, and every night before I go to sleep, I feel this newfound sense of pride from being in a deficit for so long. I feel so proud of myself and I feel so grateful that I’ve resisted the urges to binge and to overeat incessantly. 38 days is just a fraction of how long my calorie deficit will last for, but I still feel so proud. I understand better than ever that I deserve to eat healthy too, and that my body deserves better than to suffer from my binges. I’m worthy of having a body I’m proud of. I’m not there yet, but so long as I stay consistent, I’ll have an improved mindset and physique to match. I’ve gotten to the point where tracking my calories is almost second nature, and doesn’t feel like a chore anymore. I’ve gotten to the point where I can eat a slice of dessert and feel satisfied. I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t feel as though I have to eat something sweet everyday. I enjoy eating healthy. I feel compelled to eat healthy. I feel truly blessed. I know that if I can do it, anyone can. So long as you put the work in, you can really achieve whatever you put your mind to. Hoping that I won’t be binging for a long time now :)

Tomato salad

There was more but I took a pic when it was half eaten lol. Kinda high calorie for a salad but it had peanut butter and tortilla chips so it makes sense. 303c

Tagging people in comments just pollutes the replies

What happened to just sending the video to the person… what happened to just sending the comment to a person… I open the replies because I want to see what someone said in response to the comment, not to see 50 people tagging their friends 😭

Female victimhood

I truly believe the majority of Western women are incapable of empathising with the concept that men can suffer under the patriarchy too. Women have internalised the idea that they’re the sole victims of the patriarchy, and that men can only be perpetrators upholding it. It doesn’t compute in the female mind that a man can face lookism/heightism, because to them, women have and will always have it worse. It’s a game of oppression Olympics, and women will always get the gold medal. Heightism, to them, is exclusively an internet concept, and doesn’t exist outside of social media. Their evidence being ‘I know a guy who’s 5’8 and he has a girlfriend’. Women unironically believe that men simply ‘having a better personality’ would attract more potential partners. You could show a woman a study that has evidence for heightism in society, and they’d still virtue signal til their last breath. It’s impossible to reason with most women about these kinds of conversations, because they’re so consumed by their own everlasting victimhood that sympathising with a man will never be an option. A woman expressing the viewpoints I’ve written will just be labelled as a ‘pick me’, and a man expressing them will be labelled an ‘incel’. Criticising women on a large scale will always be met with more vitriol than criticising men on a large scale. This take is probably overdone, but it genuinely fascinates me how ignorant normies can be

Starting to hate the feeling of being full

I’ve realised now that I’ve never felt truly ‘full’ from eating healthy, only satisfied. The only time I ever feel full is if I’ve overeaten/binged. Being full only sounds nice in my head, not in reality. It’s uncomfortable and makes me feel heavy, as well as feeling like I miss being hungry. My digestion feels slower, I feel bloated, and I feel guilty. Being full has never made me feel good about myself, only worse. Anyone else relate?

How to get rid of bloated/gassy feeling after overeating

For context, I’ve been binge free for about 30 days. Yesterday was something akin to a binge, but I was fully in control. I admit I overate, but I forgave myself because I knew that today was going to be a stressful day (thus I overate to compensate). I feel super uncomfortable today and I feel gassy and bloated, and I don’t know how to get rid of the feeling. I had some kefir for probiotics, but not much has changed. Anyone have any tips?

The reasoning women give for not dating bi men perpetuates purity culture

Recently, I’ve seen a lot of discourse about how straight women don’t want to date bi men. It’s a strange preference, of course, but even stranger is their reasoning for it. “I don’t want to date a man who’s done [sexual action]”. It’s ironic how most Western women are so against purity culture, and wholly support sexual liberation, yet insinuate that a man is ‘weird’ or ‘disgusting’ for having sexual experience with a man. I find it fascinating that these types of conversations never acknowledge the clear allusions to purity culture, but instead only address the biphobic angle of it. People are entitled to their own preferences, but being abrasive or insulting about it is unnecessary.

Why are fat people never given the same grace as skinny people?

I often see, particularly on social media, an empathy gap between judging fat/skinny people. If someone appears visibly underweight, the main concern is that they could possibly have an eating disorder. Why are fat people never granted that same concern? The idea that having a bad relationship with food is exclusive to underweight people is so harmful, and yet so many people are conditioned to think that way by so many different influences in their life. Attached is an image of symptoms to look out for if someone in your circle has an eating disorder, from the NHS website, the healthcare providers of the UK. Notice how most of these symptoms listed are typical of anorexics/bulimics? BED is such an underrepresented eating disorder in media that it’s not even considered as a possibility that a fat person could have the disorder, only that they’re lazy and greedy.

Men who pander to women online are cringe

Men who centre their entire online presence shitting on men for women’s approval contribute to division and prejudice towards men. Feminism will never truly reach its end goal if men like them are platformed. Of course, there are some behaviours that deserve to be criticised, but the problem is those men tend to generalise the male population, and create more hatred/incite gender wars. It’s okay for men to make a couple videos about problems they see, but when their account is dedicated to it, it starts to make me feel like they’re compensating for something/virtue signalling.

18 days binge free

Today marks an 18 day streak of calorie tracking! I’ve had some slip ups where I’ve overeaten, but this is the longest time (in a while) that I’ve been consistently binge-free. It’s almost too good to be true 🥳

12 days binge free but I feel like it’s too early to celebrate

I’ve been focussing on eating cleaner, but these past few days, I’ve been snacking a lot and it’s kinda scaring me. I feel like I’m gonna end up overdoing it and eating way too many snacks and end up back at square one. Even though I’m not binging, the idea of binging constantly occupies my mind.

I have literally made 0 irl friends for the past 5 years

I moved cities about 5 years ago. My personality did a complete 180, and I was completely incapable of talking to people in school. I couldn’t think of anything to say, and I ended up being dumped by every friendship group that tried to ‘adopt me’ because I didn’t have friends. I have online friends that I’ve known since before I was riddled with social anxiety, but I struggle to think of things to talk with them about. I can’t hold conversations with anyone, unless there’s a set topic at hand, e.g. buying a bus ticket. Nowadays, I don’t struggle with talking when necessary, like asking questions from workers, but I can’t have recreational conversations. I can’t have spontaneous conversations. Not even with my own family. It’s like my mind goes entirely blank. The best way I can explain it to someone else is if you tried to speak in a language that you just started learning. You might know how to say “hi” and “how are you?”, but nothing beyond that. And that’s basically my life. I feel like an abnormal freak. I wish I was normal. I wish I was able to talk to people again normally. I wish it wasn’t so hard for me to think of things to talk about. I’ve tried counselling, I’ve tried antidepressants, but I don’t know what to do. I feel like it’s over for me and I feel so depressed because I’m the only one in my family like this. My family have no problems talking to friends or family or socialising. I’ve made 0 progress in terms of friend making ability in the past 5 years. I used to have no problem with it before that, and I used to like my personality, and my humour, and talking, but now I’m a shell of who I used to be. I couldn’t even be funny if I tried because what can I tell jokes about if I don’t even know what to talk about?

My future

I’m terrified of the prospect that I could become double my current weight because I’ve already managed to gain 35kg within like 8 months because I was binging everyday. I ballooned into a huge weight just from staying at home and I feel so ashamed and scared that I’ll repeat the same mistake. I don’t know how I’ll be able to prevent extreme weight gain in the future because I thought it wouldn’t happen to me but it did :/
