GLS owners - worth it for a growing family? What should I know before buying used?

Family is growing and I need to upgrade from my Tesla Model Y to something with a third row. Looking seriously at the GLS with captain's seats, preferably used or CPO.

I've owned a C-Class before and had a good experience with Mercedes overall, but I've heard mixed things about the GLS. For those who've owned one - what should I know before buying? Any years to target or avoid on the used market? Any common issues to watch out for?

Appreciate any real world feedback!

Best shady spots to walk!

Its so hot and I cant find many shady parks, trails or walks. Just wish there were more trees.
Under shade the sun doesn’t feel too bad at all.

Any have good walking recommendations? Please share!

Anyone went from Tesla Model Y to XC90 PHEV?

If so, how was the experience. Did you like the change or any regrets? Thanks

Families - 2 car seats + adult in second row?

Trying to figure out the best setup for 2 kids’ car seats while still allowing my wife to sit in the second row when needed.

For those with families, what has worked best for you?

  1. Which slim car seats do you recommend?

  2. Can an adult reasonably sit in the middle with 2 car seats installed?

  3. Better to put car seats on both sides, or one side + middle?

  4. Any tips on LATCH vs seatbelt install to create more space?

We like the Model Y overall, but I’m trying to understand if the 2 car seat setup can work comfortably before considering a larger SUV. Appreciate any real world advice!

Safety won me over - looking for CPO XC90 PHEV advice

Safety won me over.

After a lot of debate, I’ve pretty much made up my mind to go with an XC90 PHEV over the X7 and a few others.

My main priority is getting the safest car possible for my family.

I’m considering the 6 seat layout with the beige interior. My toddler is 2.5 years old, so the idea would be to have her in the third row, with my infant and wife in the middle row.

I’m looking specifically at the plug in hybrid version and leaning toward CPO since a new one is a little outside my immediate budget.

For those who own one or have researched them closely - any advice on which years to look for and which years to avoid?

Also, are there any must have features, common issues, or do’s and don’ts I should be watching for when shopping CPO?

Would really appreciate any advice.

VT and chill, or listen to my friend who a trader by profession

His take is that the worst crash in U.S. history is coming soon, and he advised me to exit the market by 15% every month until I’m fully out. Then wait for everything to blow up and reenter at the “golden” buying opportunity.

Essentially, timing the market.

Which I know this sub - and the overall philosophy here - is strongly against.

And honestly, I agree that timing the market is almost impossible. But hearing such a doom-and-gloom prediction, and imagining my portfolio getting cut in half based on that analysis, is hard to completely ignore.

I guess I’m seeking some reassurance. Curious how others tune out the noise - or whether talk like this from friends, family, and “experts” just stops bothering you over time

I had them rotated at 6500 miles.

Is this normal and do I need replace them soon as they closer to 4?

Was really hoping I'd get a lot more, even close to 20k miles as others have posted here on this sub.

Mine is a MY 24 LR

Walked into a dealership and I didn't like the experience.. So asking here as a first time minivan / Toyota buyer, I’d really appreciate any advice:

  1. How long is the expected wait time for a White Woodland Edition? Should I reach out to a few different dealerships, or just work with one? I’m in the Sacramento area.
  2. Are there any options and/or accessories you’d recommend adding, like the dashcam or anything else?
  3. Is the entertainment package worth it? I’m considering it.
  4. How do you feel about the Sienna’s safety, especially for family driving and young kids? I saw the IIHS scores were quite good, expect for front overlap.
  5. Any other advice I should know before buying?
  6. Also, if you’re a Woodland owner and have enjoyed or not enjoyed certain things, I’d love to hear about your ownership experience, reliability, what you’d do differently etc

Thank you!

Probably a dumb question, I think I can afford it - I earn well, save consistently, and don’t make impulsive purchases - but it still feels like a lot. Part of me wonders if I should just invest the money instead.

Maybe it’s also because this would be my first luxury watch, but I’ve been thinking about buying a Vacheron Constantin Overseas Blue as a one-and-done watch. No Rolex nothing else, just this one.

How do you actually know if you’re buying something like this responsibly? Is there a rule of thumb around income or net worth?

They just broke ground and started construction recently. I live fairly close, but can I confirm which areas will be eligible to send kids there? Thanks
