Concept head vs official for my first puppet

Finally working on my first puppet- wanted him to be a medieval lion-esque creature made from a dark wood. The concept head was made from clay and I finished up the head today and It's really hyping me up to do the rest of the body!
He will be a fully articulated marionette, and he's carved from incredibly dense bottlebrush wood from my backyard. I swear he looks smoother in person😭

Can anyone tell me anything about the Latin course?

I'm a lit student and really excited to take Latin at a college level since I took some online classes in Hs and loved it. Unfortunately I can't seem to find anyone talking about it anywhere or even the potential professors. If anyone could give me some info (difficulty, profs, workload, is it interesting, etc) I would be really appreciative!

Need help with understanding part of pattern - needle rearrangement

I did the decrease round and have my needles set up as written above, as shown in the image, but I cannot for the life of me understand what it means by knitting across needle one onto needle 3. Does that mean to knit N1, skip N2 and close the gap to N3? This part is supposed to be the beginning of the head shaping for a stuffed bear if that helps. If anyone can describe to me what to physically do, I would be very appreciative! Thank you and sorry if this is a dumb question.

If sent incorrect item, is it okay to ask them to ship correct one after returning?

Hey ya'll, I don't online shop much so i'm unaccustomed to the culture and processes. I bought an item from a seller and they sent me the incorrect one, like one from another listing they had up. I let them know and they told me to do the return through ebay for a full refund. Would it be normal to request that they then ship me the correct item (since it was their mistake) on their own or should I wait and repurchase for full price + shipping again? The item they accidentally sent me was also like 10x more expensive than the one I ordered haha.

Small Josie theory (S2 spoilers!)

>!I've always been really curious on potential reasons Josie's body only weighed 65 lbs after she died. I believe the popular/accepted theory that it was due to her soul being sucked out by Bob/the black lodge and it being indicative of the supernatural nature of the death!<

However, the other day I was reading about human experiments (unit 731 specifically) and read about, in short, cases of extreme heat leading to dehydration and the body weighing almost 1/5 of it's original weight after passing, and it reminded me of Josie. BOB can be synonymous with Fire, and it made me think perhaps a more technical explanation for her body was that the literal (or metaphorical!) intense heat of BOB's presence could have lead to her body's weight loss. Obviously if her body was super dehydrated that would've been noted by the police so probably not, but I think it's an interesting correlation! Sorry if this has been pointed out before.

Why are there so little Writing 1 classes for frosh?

Trying to build a schedule right now and I know Writing classes are required (DSP put me in writing 1) so I wanted to knock one out in first quarter.
On the enrollment page I searched for Writing on the class search, Fall 2026 Q, selected in person only, and only 2 came up, one of which is almost already filled up. Both only have 10 seats?

What's up with that? Was I wrong about writing being a required course or something? Like why would there only be 20 seats available for the entire freshman population? And why did no writing 2 classes show up? Sorry if these are silly questions i'm just confused.
I think I also read somewhere I need to take writing before I can take a lit class(my major).

Do we do course selection every Quarter?

Sorry if this is a really dumb question coming from an incoming frosh but will we be selecting new classes through MyUCSC every quarter? Like right now I think i'm gonna sign up for College 1, Major req, and the writing 1, but next quarter I will be able to choose that I want a GE, Major req, Elective ?

Also, what does the typical mix of classes look like after Quarter one? Is it usually (as above) one GE, one elective and one major course? Or 2 GE's one Major?

I'm sorry if these are really obvious questions but I really want to do this right

rawr

He's perfect. I love him.

The mane took 4 full hours to thread but i'm really happy with the way it came out! If I could do it over i'd probably add more colors for a more realistic look. Name suggestions? Top choice right now is Roary😭

Family photo!

When I learned to knit 5 months ago I was expecting to make scarves, sweaters, and socks. I will definitely be making those but my heart (and time) has been stolen by making little guys instead.

Patterns left to right:
Lovely goose toy by maylily knits
Mochi cat by Mou Mou knits
Mou Mou Bears by Mou Mou Knits
Happy Bunny v.4 by Susan b. Anderson
I was able to source all yarn from goodwill:)

If anyone has any recommendations for similar stuffed animal knitting patterns please let me know!

Which buttons do ya'll think fit better?

This is actually my second time posting here with a button-preference related question! As you can probably tell, buttons are a matter of great importance and agonizing indecision for me😭
Thanks! Goose's name is Roger:)

Joni on the cover of Rolling stone + article in 1969

Got this for 10$ in a record store in SF. Lots of super interesting stories, but ofc the Joni one was my favorite! I loved reading her little quotes and learning more about her. Lmk if anyone would like to see more pages.

Flea markets(s) haul!

Visited a couple flea markets this past weekend and came home with all these! Very excited since I am a new collector, probably only paid around 25$ in total for all. Unironically, my favorite find was actually the Mamma Mia soundtrack, with Pearl Jam MTV unplugged & Hejira as close seconds.
Yes the STP is a bootleg 😢

Refillable leather memo pad from vintage guitar strap!

Thrifted a nice leather guitar strap and decided to use the section with the 'pick pocket' as the cover for a little memo pad. Used the spiral from an older used pad and cut some elastic for the pencil holder from some scrap jeans. Only downside is you have to make your own refills and tie them to the spiral.

Some 'Ed Sherry' had wrote his name on the piece I wanted to use, and since I couldn't remove it I just wrote mine under, hence the censorship haha. Ed if you see this sorry for putting you on blast.

[Acne] Can a chemical peel help with these pores?/general advice 18f

18f: I've got huge, oily pores, mostly on my forehead and nose areas. It's not clear on camera but It's not an exaggeration to say almost every pore on my face has gunk that can be squeezed out daily. I've been fighting acne since elementary school and I think my forehead pores might be scarring and perhaps a chemical peel could help. Occasionally I coat my nose jn that pink drying lotion stuff overnight which does actually shrink my pores for a couple hours after waking but it's not a permanent solution.

I wash my face 3x a day plus toner, moisturizer and spot treatment every morning and night. I drink 2 liters of water a day and am very vigilant about sunscreen and changing my pillow case. I don't usually wear makeup. I feel so greasy and gross all the time :(

Way to tell where start of round is? Lost stitch marker

I was keeping track with a stitch marker like a responsible person, I promise, but several fiascos lead to losing the marker and the start while frogging. I can't use the end of the cast off as it's weaved in and the needles are no longer in the same coordination as they were before.
Is there any reliable way to tell? I'm trying to add stripes and I want them to be clean. Sorry if i'm missing something obvious as a beginner.

How to fix the trees and general shading ? 🫪

I only just started attempting art despite being a college student, and would like some advice on how to make this drawing more interesting/coherent. I like how the geese turned out but everything else is kinda meh and messy. The trees and clouds esp I worked so long to make them look not childish but I couldn't figure it out 😭I'm aware the powerlines make zero sense 😭

Found someone's old 1998-2000 compilation

Super excited to pick up this Brad CD for 50 cents at the thrift and didn't even check inside lol. Got home to realize someone had swapped the discs and I ended up with a bunch of random niche artists. I'm actually grateful, a lot of these tracks were really great and fun to listen to (faves where 'Velour' 'She's all yours' and 'hearts and stars') I made it its own liner notes as my stamp of approval. Fun little time capsule. Still missing that Brad cd tho...

🐌 Snail & Slug 🐌

Really wanted to show the beautiful woodgrain, upset my camera just refused to pick it up properly! Made from a branch broken off from a Bottlebrush tree in my back yard. Beeswax really helped the bark on the Snail shine. Sometimes the simplest things are the most satisfying 🐌
