I've been playing through BG3 again and I'm so god damn obsessed with Astarion I'm neglecting my real world fiance a little too much lmao 🤣

For those who don't know him, this is what I'm looking for:

So Astarion was used as basically a sex slave for a long time, he is a vampire spawn and he was used by the vampire who turned him. I wouldn't say he was a sex slave necessarily but he was used by said vampire to seduce and lure many many people back to him so he could feed on them etc. and if he resisted Astarion would be badly tortured by him.

Obviously that isn't what I am looking for, but I do really like how his character evolves throughout the game, where he eventually can fall in love with you, he tells you about his tragic backstory, and he ends up having to I guess fight his past to have a healthy relationship with love/sex again. He literally admits he doesn't actually know how to form an intimate connection that isn't transactional or physical, which I kinda like, I don't know why. 😭 Also at first he is superficial and a flirt when you finally break down those walls and discover what happened to him and how he truly feels about you, it's SO GOOD.

(Another example of this I guess would be good old >!Rhysand !<(spoilered though I'm sure everyone knows this dude by now lol) since he is also used for sex and abused.

Not sure what this says about me and all of us who are into this stuff, I guess we just love a good tragic backstory, and for them to overcome this and learn to trust again.

I've been offered a secondhand PS5 from a family member, she is selling it for £350, approx 470 in USD. It's the original, bulkier PS5. I can get a new one for £480 for the digital version, or £550 for the one with the disc drive.

I mostly want the console for GTA, Until Dawn 2, and tbh other exclusives that won't come to PC. I'm willing to splurge, but because I'm not sure exactly how much I'll be using the console apart from GTA in November, I didn't think spending nearly £800 for the pro is worth it.

So I reallyyy don't know what to do, £350 sounds like a good deal but I generally don't purchase secondhand due to you never really know what condition it has been kept in. This is my cousin so I obviously do trust her, but generally you just can never be sure.

Would you splurge on new, or go for the secondhand?

I also already have a gaming PC, a gaming laptop and a Steam Deck so I don't really know if this will become my main console necessarily, I really just want it for any exclusives. 😭

I think this may be a strong case of FOMO, because I genuinely haven't touched my Switch OLED in over a year. I always dislike playing on it, it feels too weak to run anything except exclusives and I then just end up being put off and not picking it up, even though I have the itch to play an exclusive that does run perfectly well lol 🥲

I also already have a SteamDeck so I can't even justify it by wanting an upgraded bed-gaming console.

I just think the Switch 2 looks REALLY good and I would love to play Pokopia, and I miss the Nintendo exclusives a lot. I do have money saved so financially it wouldn't be a huge problem, but I also don't just want to splurge for nothing.

My question is those of you that did upgrade, were you in a similar position of not playing your original Switch much, but you play the Switch 2 regularly, or perhaps the opposite so you don't actually play it much and it was a waste of money? Would you say it was or wasn't worth the upgrade? Are the games running much better, including Switch 1 games, or do they run the same?

Possibly a controversial opinion, but I've been after true yearning for a long time, I don't care for spice levels too much, so I decided to go back to YA books for some easier reads during my slump.

And my God the yearning is BRUTAL!! It almost feels like there is more yearning, because realistically the most you're going to get by the end is a kiss or fade to black, not a super descriptive open door scene which then leads to more and more spice, so it feels like there is more emphasis on the "chase" and the tension?

Maybe I've just gotten lucky, and YA fantasy does have its flaws but honestly it's scratching all my itches right now 😂

Also it doesn’t need to necessarily be vampire/human but I love it when there’s a huge difference in power and strength! And I LOVE the protectiveness of Edward, that’s a must.

I don’t think I’ve had a hobby where I’ve consistently stuck to it and I’m able to do it for hours everyday and haven’t gotten tired quickly, but with comic books it’s what I do immediately when I get home and don’t stop until it’s time to sleep! If I go out anywhere, a comic is coming with me lol

I’m a 31 year old woman and I’ve never owned a comic book, which I think is ridiculous as I love superheroes as do so many people. Well today I decided to go out and get myself a comic book, just to try it out! I came home with 3 (Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Green Arrow) and I’ve spent the last hour reading and I’m HOOKED 😍 I feel this is such a vibe, I love reading regular books but there is something so charming about the artwork in comics. Safe to say this may become a new hobby of mine and I’m just feeling very happy and nostalgic right now! It really is the little things 🥹

Man, I loved these games so much. Watching Clem grow up was such a rollercoaster, I didn't expect to still be missing Lee by the 4th game but I found myself tearing up at the flashbacks!

That last part of the final season... I had fully accepted Clem's death, had a little cry, and when it skips to AJ fishing I was really happy to see him coping and generally okay. Then we pass by Louis, and I was like alright, he seems a little too okay lol, and then Clem walks out with those fcking crutches! I was so shocked, so happy, I haven't been that bamboozled in a long time. Also, I think the fact they added a romance option was really cool too, who doesn't love some teenage angst 😂

Generally all 4 games were great, but I did have issues with the 3rd game, I found myself looking forward to Clem's flashbacks more than Javi's story. AJ was the cutest little baby, and it would have been interesting to see just how they both survived since a baby would be a self-advertising Big Mac for the walkers.

I think my favourite is the 1st game, followed by the 4th, then the 2nd and then lastly the 3rd. Overall loved them all though and personally I think the Final Season wraps everything up very nicely. I also really liked 400 Days.

10/10 what a great series and I'm excited to play the Michonne game next. 🖤

EDIT: Forgot to mention I also would have liked to see just how AJ saved Clem, I think I read somewhere he cauterizes the wound but it would still have been very cool to see it, although there is probably a good amount of plot armour involved because I don't know how a 6 year old could possibly chop off a leg 🤣

I keep looking for recommendations and I get so irrationally annoyed when I hear “there’s a great plot twist in this” or “the plot twist at the end had me shook” like great now I’m expecting a twist, I’m actively looking out for signs that I’ll be bamboozled at the end. But no one else seems to consider it a spoiler since we’re not told the actual event. I want to be SHOCKED god damn it and not be expecting it!

Does anyone else feel this way, because I feel I am so alone in this lol, it’s different if you’re literally searching for books with a great plot twist. But if you’re just making a video or post about books you’ve enjoyed lately, it’s so annoying to just assume no one will care you’ve told them there’s a plot twist, some of us want to be shocked and not see it coming! 😤😤😤
