[Offered] Looking for roommate for 2 bed 2 bath in Mar Vista!

Hi everyone! I'm looking for a roommate to move into my Mar Vista 2 bed 2 bath apartment in September or October! Rent is $1686 per person, and utilities are around $50-60 per month for electricity + wifi. (Water and trash are covered by landlord). The building management requires a credit score of at least 680 but higher than 700 is preferable. You must also make 3x your half of the rent. My building is unfortunately very strict with this and is not willing to bend the rules.

This apartment is a great walkable location. It's a quick walk to CVS and Mitsuwa, the Mar Vista Farmer's Market, multiple bars and restaurants, coffee shops, a new cute book store etc. It's a really quick drive to Culver City, Sawtelle, Santa Monica, and Palms.

The area is very safe, and has a lot of little community activities. The apartment is also quiet. There is little street noise, and the neighbors are respectful.

The apartment itself is full of light, with big sliding glass doors. There's also no unit above us, so no ceiling noise. You would have your own bathroom. The bedroom is a really nice size at 11'x15'.

I'm also very down to redecorate the common areas! I want whoever moves in to feel at home, and feel that all the common areas are a shared space.

There is laundry on site, and management has been really good about doing service requests when needed.

We share 2 tandem parking spots, and street parking is also pretty easy to find.

For a little about me:

I work at a motion capture company doing support and system installations. I've lived in LA for 5 years, and in this apartment for 3 years. I'm 29, and looking for someone who is mid 20s or older. I do work from home.

My hobbies are pretty chill. I love to do crafts, cross stitch, and I'm learning how to sew. I also like to play piano (with headphones). I like to cook and go thrifting, and play video and board games. Generally nerdy hobbies.

What I'm looking for:

I have a preference for a female roommate, but open to anyone who is LGBT friendly. Personality fit is what's most important to me, and it would be nice to live with someone who wants to be friends/friendly. Someone who is good at communicating is also really important to me, so we both feel comfortable living in the space. I'm also looking for someone who is down to stay for a while. Not looking for short term rentals.

Unfortunately, no furry pets due to allergies :(

How do people actually find Roommates in LA??

I have a really great 2 bed 2 bath in Mar Vista that I’ve been trying to fill for a couple months. The apartment is really large (around 1100sq ft) and the bedrooms are big. I’ve been posting in various Facebook groups with very very low response rates. I’ve tried joining as many Facebook groups as I can find, but still am not getting meaningful responses.

The rent is $1686 which I feel like is pretty reasonable for the area?

I’ve also posted on various roommate websites, but even when people reach out, they never respond to my messages.

I’ve literally never had this issue when I lived in San Francisco or San Diego, so I don’t think I’m the problem.

Can anyone provide any tips for actually finding a roommate in LA?

(Also if anyone’s curious to see the room, here’s the Reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/LARentals/s/fblzme5i16)

How do you apartment search??

I’m apartment searching right now in Los Angeles. I make enough money to live in a non-luxury two bedrooms. I do not make a lot of money.

My issue is most apartments I’m touring are badly triggering my mcas. I really don’t trust apartments that do this. I previously lived in an apartment with black mold and it destroyed my life.

How do you possibly vet apartments to make sure they won’t make you sick? It’s really hard to trust any of them that make me feel iffy inside. Also it feels like half of LAs non luxury apartments are infested with mold or some kind of issue that’s triggering my MCAS.

Thanks.

What’s the best CBD + CBN tincture available in CA?

I didn’t realize there was a law coming into effect restricting CBD sales in California. I used to buy Lazarus naturals CBD + CBN to sleep and just ran out. To my horror it’s no longer sold. I have debilitating insomnia and use this nightly. I’m begging anyone who has a CBD + CBN alternative that I can purchase in California.

I’m located in Los Angeles and can pick up in-person too. I just figure there will be more options online.

Thank you

Does anyone experience pain when taking sulforaphane?

I previously tested positive for h.pylori a couple years ago and had to treat it 3.5 times. I still have what feels like h.pylori symptoms. Stabbing ulcer-like pain and gnawing hunger, heart palpitations and panic attacks/anxiety. It’s been a year since treatment and it’s only gotten worse.

I’ve been evaluated by so many gastroenterologists but none of them care because my h.pylori tests are negative. I’ve advocated for myself to the moon and back.

Anyway my stool PCR tests are h.pylori negative but my GI maps are always positive e^2 or e^3. I feel like I have some latent infection causing a small ulcer in my small intestines.

I’ve tried things like matula tea (doesn’t seem to help) and mastic gum (only helps for a half hour). I tried taking sulforaphane and I feel like someone poured something hot on my ulcer. Is this normal pain from the h.pylori dying? Does it end up going away?

For context I have the VACA virulence factor, which means it burrows into my cells. I wonder if taking the sulforaphane makes it burrow deeper causing pain? I’m really not sure what to do at this point. I’ve already seen so many doctors.

Does anyone have a similar experience or any advice?

GI map and high Anti Gliadin IGA

Hi everyone, I’ve had a lot of microbiome issues and bacteria wise my GI map is in a fairly normal place (relatively). I used to have huuuge pseudomonas, Morganella, h.pylori, E.coli, staph and strep overgrowths, and now just my staph and strep are slightly high.

That being said, my “intestinal health markers” section has always been out of wack, and has only gotten worse. I always have extremely low secretory IGA (which I don’t understand the cause of) and now I have extremely high anti gliadin antibodies. I also have low elastase and slightly high Calprotectin.

I’ve seen a handful of functional medicine docs, even ones that were supposed to be really good, and they’ve mostly given me oregano oil and sent me on my way. They were really expensive and weren’t able to answer my questions about why my intestinal health markers section is the way it is.

Is anyone able to help me understand why my intestinal health markers are the way that they are?

For context, my secretory IGA has been inexplicably low for a couple years now, but this is the first time my anti gliadin antibodies are high. So I don’t necessarily think the two are related.

Thank you!

Searching for Roommate in Mar Vista for 2 bed 2 bath Apartment with Parking!

Hi everyone! I'm looking for a roommate to move into my Mar Vista 2 bed 2 bath apartment in August or September! Rent is $1686 per person, and utilities are around $50-60 per month for electricity + wifi. (Water and trash are covered by landlord). The building management requires a credit score of at least 680 but higher is preferable. You must also make 3x your half of the rent.

This apartment is a great walkable location. It's a quick walk to CVS and Mitsuwa, the Mar Vista Farmer's Market (the best farmers market on the west side tbh), multiple bars and restaurants, coffee shops, a new cute book store etc. It's a really quick drive to Culver City, Sawtelle, Santa Monica, and Palms.

Where to find Turkish Ice Cream / Booza/Dondurma/Mastic Gum ice cream?

Hey everyone, I’m looking for somewhere in LA that sells mastic gum ice cream, also called Booza or dondurma. It has a very stretchy and unique texture. I know about Galeta in Long Beach, but was hoping for something closer.

I’m also not necessarily looking for an ice cream shop. If there’s a place that sells it packaged in stores too, that also works. Thanks!

What to do when landlord denying roommate requests?

Hi everyone,

I’m in a really difficult stressful situation, and I’m hoping someone can help.

I’m living in the same apartment for the past couple of years. Everything had gone smoothly and management was good at maintenance requests etc. My current roommate and I applied for this apartment while it was under different management, we lived here for a couple years, then the complex switched management last year. We did not have any issues with the management so far.

My roommate is moving out August 1st, and 2 months beforehand I posted an ad looking for a roommate. I found someone who is perfect and we get along really well. She applied for the unit at the beginning of this month, and the apartment complex spent 15 days getting back to us about the results of our application. (Which was already really irritating because it’s never taken more than 48 hours in my experience.) We emailed them multiple times for status updates because it was taking so long.

They responded that they’re denying the new roommate even though she has an excellent credit score, rental history, references, and income (all of which she has sent and proved to me). The complex told me my options are to qualify for 3.5 times the entire 2 bedroom rent myself or move out.

To me it feels like they made the application process take so long on purpose to force me to move out with less than 15 days notice. They refuse to provide reasoning on why they rejected my roommate and have completely ghosted me at this point. They’re not responding to any emails, and their phone always goes to voicemail. I showed up to their office in person and they refused to talk to me. I’ve been a good tenant this whole time, and have been extremely professional and respectful in all emails and voicemails.

I don’t make enough money to qualify for the two bedroom alone so that is out of the question. What they’re doing feels illegal. Even if I find someone else to fill the room on such short notice, I don’t have 15 or 20 days to find out if they’re even accepted. The other candidates I was speaking to all found different units to rent while we were waiting on the results of the application. Is there any recourse I can take, or am I just out of luck? What would you all do in my situation if the complex is no longer communicating?

Thank you

Did anyone have H.Pylori come back after unrelated antibiotics?

Hi everyone,

I previously had an h.pylori infection I had to treat 3x.

I was stable for 9ish months and then had to take Bactrim for an unrelated reason. I couldn’t handle the Bactrim and took it for only 1 day. After that my H.pylori stomach pain came back in full force. It feels like I’m being stabbed in my upper left quadrant, the same as when I was positive. It’s been over a week since I’ve taken the Bactrim and the pain has only gotten worse.

I don’t understand how taking 1 day of Bactrim would have caused this. Especially since h.pylori lives in the stomach and duodenum where other bacteria doesn’t live. So it’s not like it took over the “free real estate” created by the antibiotics. Did this happen to anyone else?

I also have VAC A virulence factor hence my pain.

Audio journaling app that lets you upload your own audio files

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for an audio journaling app that has a couple of specific requirements. I send a lot of voice messages to my friends and save them as audio files to my voice memos app for memories. I’d like to organize them in an audio journaling app. The issue I’m running into is so many apps only let you record directly into the app, and don’t let you upload your own audio files.

Another thing I’m looking for is the ability to then export those files once they’re in the app (so they’re not locked inside it forever.) The native IOS journaling app is close, but once an audio file is inside, there’s no option to save or export it.

Bonus points if the app is able to auto transcribe the audio message.

I’ve checked out a ton of apps like Untold, and I’m running into the same issue where they don’t let you upload your own files. Does anyone know an app that might fit my needs?

Does anyone know why my stitches suddenly look off?

Hi everyone, beginner sewer here. I have a singer machine that I’m using to sew some silk. (I know silk isn’t the best beginner material, but it’s for a costume and I thrifted it).

Everything was going well and then I took a break. I didn’t change any settings on the machine, and when I came back and continued sewing, the stitches suddenly look off.

Before: they look nice and straight.

After: they look scraggly. (I wish I had a better way to describe this.) It almost seems like they’re too loose.

Does anyone recognize what the issue is?

Thanks!

Curious if anyone else had endometriosis on their ovaries?

I got my endo lap results back and they found endometriosis on and around both of my ovaries. My doctor didn’t have anything specific to say about the location, but I was wondering if anyone else has had it in this spot?

I’m wondering if endo there could impact me hormonally at all, since ovaries generate your body’s hormones. I weirdly didn’t have endo where my doctor considers the most “common spot” (underneath the uterus). Just around my ovaries.

Also, if you have endo in the same location, did it end up coming back for you?

Why does NAC give me horrific insomnia, but Glutathione helps me sleep?

Can someone help me understand why scientifically NAC gives me horrific insomnia, but Glutathione helps me sleep? I know the main thing NAC does is converts to glutathione in your body. But theoretically then taking both NAC and Glutathione should have the same effect on me.

I’m wondering if I’m missing some cofactors or something so my body can’t turn NAC into glutathione well. But taking it in its direct form works for me.

For clarity I was taking NAC orally, but taking glutathione as a suppository. I also have horrible dysbiosis so theoretically gut bacteria could be playing a part.

I have 677 CT and 1298 AA for my MTHFR mutations
