Viltrox AF 35mm F1.2 LAB N FE review - excellent value and sharp - is this the lens of your dreams?

Great review if you’re still on the fence about the Viltrox 35mm f/1.2 LAB. Amateur Photographer gave it a perfect 5/5, praising its sharpness, bokeh, autofocus overall value, and performance competes with native lenses costing much more.

SUMMER | Fighting in Paris — Viltrox 90mm f/2.2 EVO

After a long day of traveling, we finally made it to the hotel, ordered room service and called it a night. Stepped out on the balcony and somehow there was an international Kurash competition happening right across the street. Definitely not what I expected to see that night.

Viltrox Launches Silver Air Series Lenses for Fujifilm X Cameras

I already have the AIR series for Fuji and love them, so I definitely don’t need another set. But if Viltrox brings these silver versions to Z mount, I’d seriously consider picking a few up for my Zf. They would definitely complete retro vibe .

When Viltrox announces a themed photo contest, what’s your approach?

I’d love to hear why you chose your answer in the comments. Do themed contests inspire you to get out and shoot more, or do they make you look at your older work in a whole new way?

One Door. Endless Stories. | Viltrox AF 25mm f/1.7 AIR

No famous landmark, no perfect sunset—just a doorway that made me stop. Sometimes it’s the small details, the textures, and a splash of color that end up being some of my favorite street photos.

Reflecting on Three Weeks in Europe With Only 3 Primes… I’d only Change One Thing

I have always been curious about all the hype surrounding Fuji, so before my 3 week trip to Europe I decided to get a Fujifilm X-T50, and build a travel kit around it. Since I was starting from scratch, and had a few months to get familiar with the camera, I bought all 5 Viltrox Air Primes and a last minute 90mm evo. After weeks of use and getting advice from this subreddit, I packed the 9mm AIR, 25mm AIR, and 90mm EVO.
The first few days were tough, without a zoom, changing lenses wasn’t always easy. I was usually pulling my daughter in a wagon, so every lens change meant stopping, digging through my bag, and hurrying to catch back up with my wife.
The 9mm was perfect for architecture, narrow streets, and interiors. The 90mm produced some of my favorite images, but the jump from 25mm to 90mm was bigger than I expected. There were plenty of times when the 25mm felt too wide and the 90mm too tight, forcing me to think ahead and decide whether a lens change was worth it, But by the end of the trip, though, it all became second nature. I stopped thinking about the lens I didn’t have and focused on making the most of the one that was on the camera. I also realized I didn’t need to photograph everything. One great image was often better than twenty average ones.
Hindsight being 20/20, I’d probably swap the 90mm EVO for the Viltrox 56mm AIR. I originally chose the 90mm because we had a rear-facing cabin on the cruise ship, and I figured I’d appreciate having as much reach as possible while we were at sea. That ended up being the right choice for those shots, but I underestimated how many family portraits we’d take in places like the Eiffel Tower. On APS-C, the 90mm had me standing much farther back than I expected, which isn’t easy in a crowd. Looking back, the 56mm probably would’ve been the better overall travel lens while still giving me enough reach for portraits.
A zoom would have made parts of the trip easier, but after three weeks in Europe with my 3 primes, I realized I wasn’t giving anything up. If anything, the limitations made me a more intentional photographer.

SUMMER| Montenegro Through the Viltrox 90mm f/2.2 EVO / Fuji x-t50

Captured while cruising through Montenegro. The extra reach let me pull the sailboat, waterfront village, and mountains together into one shot in a way a wider lens just couldn’t. I wasn’t sure how much I’d use a 90mm on vacation, but it ended up being on my camera alot.

Is Sony About to Hand Viltrox a Massive Opportunity?

With Sony officially trying to acquire Tamron, could this end up being one of the biggest opportunities Viltrox has ever had? If Tamron becomes more closely aligned with Sony, photographers on Nikon, Canon, Fujifilm, and L-Mount may start looking even harder at independent third-party brands. Curious what everyone thinks if this deal actually goes through.

What should Viltrox prioritize FIRST?

Over the last month I’ve been going through the comments on the subreddit, and a few requests kept coming up over and over again. These five seemed to be the biggest themes people want Viltrox to focus on. I’m curious which one the community thinks should be the top priority.

Hot Take- Trading Up Is Worse Than Financing a Watch

Trading your way up to a watch is even worse financing it. Taking five trade losses to finally end up with the watch you wanted from the start is ridiculous and will cost more than finance charges.
I’m not against putting a watch on a credit card if you can comfortably pay it off. Just don’t be the guy making minimum payments for the next three years. Buy what you actually want, even if it’s on credit and be done with it.
