You may recognize Willy from r/thriftstorehauls; if not, let me explain that I discovered him at a Goodwill Outlet, AKA “the bins,” and he’s an art doll that was handmade in Germany by RockandDoll. I have no idea why anyone would abandon such an amazing little guy but he’s got a new home now!

His new little friend was found in the same store more recently, and is technically a vintage cake topper … Grandma, you dog!

I’ve been showering Willy with more thrifted gifts, some of which you can see in my profile; I’d like to add more posts of his adventures here too. 😊

The hotel is from American Girl, which is a little big for him but of course I vowed to make it work! The outside is the front desk, but it unfolds into quite the detailed luxury suite. Also found him a Pound Puppy and a Squishmallow at the perfect scale! These were all found at the goodwill bins, the same place I found Willy. The hotel itself was a flat $3, and of course the teeny plushies were practically nothing, maybe less than 50¢ total?

His brand new hoodie was donated by a fan (I’ll let them step forward if they’d like!), it’s so cozy and just his style so we really appreciate it!

I tried to put him to work at the end here … is he just tired or is he drunk? You decide.

Couldn’t believe my luck! It was sitting flat on the top shelf so you couldn’t tell what it was at a glance, so I think someone was trying to hide it. My inner 12 year old self is screaming!!!

I already posted a few of these here, but here are the rest all together; the only ones I’ve personally owned are the “Stuck in You” plush, the magnet (plastic “Stuck on You” figure), and the McDonald’s glass mug.

Would absolutely love to someday have the phone and kit cat clock, but I’m cheap. XD

It’s in gorgeous condition and feels like it’s never even been worn. It’s 100% black cotton with the pattern silkscreened in off-white, and has the signature coconut shell buttons. The shirt pattern style (sewn) is 902B but I don’t know the name of the fabric pattern; I do know they created botanical designs based on Hawaiian flora, and that they changed designs often.

This was so cool to find and I’ve enjoyed learning about Sig Zane! Again I’m hoping to find out more info about it, maybe the year it was produced and what the name of the white screened pattern is.

He’s a little teapot, short and stout!

I previously posted my drawing of the Garfone (Garphone?) and have a few more iconic Garfield goodies up my sleeve from the past.

Garfield was my absolute favorite character as a kid and he still holds a special place in my heart. It’s been a fun trip to revisit drawing him like I constantly did on my homework back in the day.

I wanted one of these phones so badly when I was 8-9 years old! I remember one being displayed out-of-box at Walmart in their efforts of enticing you to spend the $50 to take one home. That’s about the equivalent of $150 today, so it’s no wonder my parents never bought one for me! And it’s not as if I had a phone jack in my room back then anyway.

I’ve also drawn the Garfield version of the kit cat clock, and also plan on drawing the lava lamp and teapot. 🧡

Created a new cover with navy blue paper last week! The artwork is edited from some clip art I found, which I printed out to foil in gold. From there I laminated, trimmed, and punched it. The back is the same artwork, but mirrored and with my last name added at the top instead of my first.

Foil scraps are typically thrown away, but I realized I could laminate them to create a matching bookmark and set of dividers. I’ve ordered a set of medium gold discs so I can add more pages, and went with metal since they’re higher quality and shiny, lol.

I’m noticing filler paper is getting harder to find in this size, and that HP stuff is getting harder to find in general, which is such a shame. I figure I’ll have to buy some second-hand mini notebooks to source them from or create my own.

Can’t wait to take this to work and show it off. 😄

I just found out we have a newish Savers in the general area so I decided to make the drive and check it out yesterday.

The first thing I spotted was this amazing, GIANT 17” Garfield alarm clock. I had this exact same clock as a kid(!), but mine was a wind-up in the normal, non-giant size rather than this battery-operated behemoth. I figured $40 might actually be worth it to me, as my original was a gift from my aunt who recently passed, and I used it daily up through my 20s until I finally wore the poor thing out.

Upon closer inspection, not only had the top metal piece broken free from one of the bells, both the hour and minute hand swung loosely, which is why they’re pointing straight down in all the photos. The key for setting the alarm in the back is also missing entirely. With the construction of the housing I’m not even sure there’s a way to open it up for repair without basically destroying it.

After a quick search I see I can buy a working one for $50 online, including the shipping. What are they smoking? Also saw a lot of broken items for sale and a lot of incredibly high prices in general. Seemed crazy they were packed with shoppers!

I think I’ll stick with my usual Goodwill and Salvation Army locations; better prices and much closer to home.

I hope it’s ok to post here since it’s closely related to VHS tapes without actually being one.

It’s made for carrying a VCR and I’m guessing it’s from around 1985; not sure if it was for rentals or was supposed to be hooked up to a camera? It zips closed with a clear vinyl window and has several ports that velcro shut so you can run cables and power without removing it. The zippered pocket on the side I’m guessing is for either a remote or for the cables.

This just seems like the coolest find ever and I’ve been dying to share it with someone who can actually appreciate this stuff. And yes, I placed Roz inside for one of the photos, lol. Love the futuristic retro look of the puffed silver pleather.

I feel like they’re hanging out on the patio in front of his condo or something, lol.

I could not believe I found some craft storage that actually fits so well next to my washer and dryer! The three cubes were $6.99 each at Salvation Army, and I’m going to have fun relabeling the drawers as I start to fill them up. The piece I’m using as the narrow table they’re sting on was a recent curb find in the neighborhood; it’s actually one of those really cheap dressers but the fabric drawers were missing. It works better this way for me though since I can fit it in lengthwise, and open the space underneath is perfect for storing paper towels.

I haven’t been out shopping much recently, so I was very excited to find another new friend for Willy at the Goodwill Bins the same day as the cubes, a proud mama beagle carrying her wee one. Also found what looks to be a fancy outdoor couch! Thought it would be nice to let them all hang out and get to know each other.

I picked this Shoenhut up at an estate sale a while back; sorry I don’t have any more photos at the moment as this is currently in storage. I’m guessing it’s probably from the 70s? I’m wondering if it’s a tabletop model or if it’s missing legs. I imagine examining the bottom would help, but again I’ll have to fish it out of storage first, and I figure it wouldn’t hurt to ask here in the meantime.

The main reason I bought it was mostly to compensate for the loss of my childhood Jaymar piano, which you can see in the 3rd and 4th pics.

My dad gave me the Jaymar around 1979 or so, and it’s moved with me a few times. But once I was short on traveling space when moving across the country and left it with a friend. Long story short, it was finally (and unexpectedly!) returned to me after being at my friend’s parents’ house for twenty years! I’m currently in the process of restoring it; I didn’t take a proper “before” photo but you can get a general idea of its state when it first arrived as pictured under my cat; the last photo shows how it looks now (I’m also hoping I can whiten up the keys a little with some hair developer).

Anyway, I’m ready to let the Shoenhut go now so I’m considering either restoring this or selling as-is. I haven’t been able to find this model with Google or Google Lens searches so I’m wondering if anyone knows anything about this specific piano and whether or not it’s supposed to by “stubby.”

It’s the Disneyland popcorn bucket from last year’s 90s event! I didn’t even know this existed until a few months ago when another Redditor posted about finding one at a thrift store. I think I paid the same price too!

Whoever is running the swap meet booth apparently picked it up at a goodwill since part of the sticker is still on the back, lol.

At least it was properly baked? She did call the store and they asked her to bring it back in to examine (and hopefully to give her a refund as well!).

I recently drew some art of the main characters in a style I call “CutiEs.” I decided I needed some special earrings to wear for the theatrical release and thought Pomni would be perfect to go with one of my TADC shirts and the TADC bag I designed.

You can see the other characters I’ve drawn in this style if you swipe over to see the shaker; I’m still waiting to get it in the mail but the manufacturer was kind enough to send me this preview photo. :D

I obviously recognize the Black Eyed Peas logo, and at first glance I felt it looked very mid-2000s. Upon looking up their albums, I see that Monkey Business was released in 2005, and of course they’ve toured in Tokyo.

Purple crushed velvet with brown leatherette trim. One side of the crossbody strap is covered in the same velvet, which I’ve never seen done before.

I’m not sure what “James’ Tokyo” means except it has nothing to do with the Tokyo James designer. I know for certain it was available before 2009, because I found another similar bag in dark blue (last pic) that had to be from the same line; someone was trying to resell it in late 2008.

The outside seems to be professionally made, the inside seems a little more handmade. I didn’t find any tags inside.

I was wondering if this might be merch from the Tokyo tour? I’m guessing it’s from 2005-06. It reminds me a lot of the Juicy Couture bags that were so popular at the time. I feel like if it was homemade I wouldn’t have stumbled across another. Any insight?

I stumbled across some unique keys online that I was thinking about ordering blanks of. They only have Kwickset and Shlage available, and I contacted them when it didn’t look like I had either.

After sending them images, I was given this response:

“Hi there! Sorry to disappoint but this kind of key cannot fit our style of house key. It is a laser/dimple style key. So sorry to disappoint!”

I tried looking up laser/dimple style keys and the ones I’ve found look nothing like mine at all. I’m attaching an image of both the front and back of my house key, and would love to know if anyone can tell me what kind of key blank this is (I did remove some of the notches since this is a public post).

Any help would be appreciated! :)

Found a high-quality Targus convertible laptop bag while shopping at the bins, but it was a little plain for my taste. Luckily in the bottom of the next bin over I found a pretty luna moth patch that suits it perfectly!

I ironed it on today and feel like I added some class as well as a feminine touch. The straps on the back can be tucked into the zippered pocket, and I’ll probably carry it most often as the upright tote. I love that the front pocket has a place for my stylus as well as all sorts of pockets and compartments! This will be really great for drawing on the go, and for when I have to go into the office.

Luna moths are a favorite of mine and I’m so happy how these two thrift finds turned out together! 🦋
