Hello, I am currently considering a career in the army, I’ve narrowed my choices down to four options! 3 of them are very easy in terms of progression and placement!

However I am also considering joining the Royal Army Medical Corp as a Combat Medical Technician, once passing the necessary training would I be sent to an infantry battalion/regiment as the Combat Medic or would I be in a Combat Medic only regiment? I am sorry if that doesn’t make any sense!

If the prior let’s say I am sent to the Rifles or Mercians would I technically be part of the Rifles as a combat medic and wearing the Rifles cap badge or would I be a combat medic wearing the RAMC cap badge and just attached to the Rifles?

Questions about Tarot

Hello all! I hope we are all doing fantastic today!

I am virtually new to Tarot in it self, I wouldn’t say I’m a believer nor a denier, I guess you could say skeptical but I like the term Tarot-Curious! I have some questions regarding tarot that I hope people will kindly clear up for me!

1. When asking questions how specific do I need to be or can I ask a simple question for non life altering things like “Do I have Pasta Bake or Chicken Nuggets for Dinner?”

2. Tarot Spreads: how do you know when to use which spread and when not to? (Again as - tarot-curious person I know the 3 card and Celtic cross spread, ie I’ve heard of them)

3. I’d like to get some reading for myself what are some green/red/beige flags to look for in tarot readers?

4. any myths or misinformation that need to be cleared up like do I actually need a purple bag to hold my cards? Do I have to sleep with said cards?

5. as both Tarot-Curious and Catholic-Curious, is it wrong to mix the two elements? Like if I asked the cards for guidance on issue X and there is a saint in the Catholic tradition that can help me guide to resolution of Issue X is that ok or is that a no-no?

6. what are the benefits of tarot? And if I misread cards (if doing a spread for myself will it affect things)

I am currently considering moving from the UK to Ireland and joining the DF! When I was last in Ireland I took some Irish lessons and really enjoyed them but since coming back to England I’ve lost it as I’ve not used it.

I was wondering if I was successful and got into the DF, would I be able to continue using the Irish Language, I know Irish is the official language but everything is given in English, I know there is also the Irish Language Scheme but looking through that it more seems having paperwork in Irish?

I am new to the world of writing and the world of fanfiction so apologises if this is not meant to be here!

I have seen some reviews for a book called The Monk written by Matthew Lewis in 1798 I think, I have the general gist of the story, if I was to write a story inspired by the book would that be classed as Original Work? Fan Fiction or Fan Inspired?

I am currently 30M living in the UK! I am near the end of my first year at University, currently studying English Literature and Creative Writing through the Open University! I have to take a year off due to credits and plan to work on my Irish and eventually take my TEG!

My questions are; Do universities help with school placements since I am not Irish, and would be coming from England to study in Ireland after my degree? Would my degree be accepted? I know I don’t need an Irish Language qualification as I won’t be teaching Irish even in a Gaelscoil, but would a B2 qualification give me an advantage?

Also do you get paid while on placement and would I be eligible for funding either for living or tutoring fees?

Also is it too late as I’ll be 34 starting my PME and probably 36/37 when I start Teaching?

So I was never really into Football growing up, but recently been watching a lot of career modes on YouTube! So I thought I’d give it a go but I’ll be honest I’ve got no clue about anything!

I was wanting to do a Road to Glory style starting in League 2 work my way up to the Prem (Probably my own team)

What advice would you give to a newbie who knows nothing! I am on PS if that is relevant?

I Have Achieved Nothing

I 30 M have came to the realisation that I have achieved nothing in my life, like yes I’ve left school with ok grades but since then I’ve done nothing with my life, I don’t have a university degree (tried and failed) been in virtually the same 2 jobs all my life, and never progressed I’m still basically at the same level I was when I started this job!

I have no real friends in my life, like I have people I get along with at work and consider them “work mates” but I have no one to call at 3am, I have no one! I’ve had a few relationships but all together I’d say I’ve spent a total of 8 months in relationships.

The most exciting thing I guess is I won employee of the month back in September 2025 big whoop, all I got was a free meal for 2 at a restaurant and I didn’t even use it because I had no one to go with!

I just feel like I’m never going to achieve anything and stuck in some dead end job that will slowly destroy me, I know I’m basically going to grow old alone, not even a dog as my shifts at work won’t allow me that!

I’ve tried looking for other jobs to try and yet I’m not qualified for any of them! I’ve applied for standard shelf stacking at the local supermarket, to entry level jobs and been rejected time and time again to the point I’ve had to just accept defeat and just know that I have achieved nothing and probably will never achieve anything

So recently been getting into knitting and have been enjoying it, I’ve been trying to find knitting groups but struggle to find any! I sadly am on shift work so I’d struggle to be able to do the same day at the same time each week! Are there any knitting groups around Nottingham city centre that would accept someone popping in every so often?

Hey all so looking for a new printer! I am a knitter so I am printing a lot of patterns out, my current printer only prints B&W and one sided (I know I can insert it upside down to have it print both sides but ngl that is a pain! Also colour work charts ain’t great in Black and White.

So I am looking for a printer that prints colour, B&W, double sided and can support A4 and A3? Not really bothered about price that much but don’t want to spend several hundreds of pounds!

Sorry that this isn’t really about Knitting or Fiber Crafts at all but I suppose it is Fibre Arts Adjacent?

I am looking for a brand new printer as my current one only prints black and white and does not have a double sided feature!
I like printing my patterns off as when it comes to doing a project I don’t have to keep looking at a screen. This isn’t really an issue if the pattern is just a single page or two and without colour work charts being involved!

I do have a few patterns (by a few I mean a fuck tonne) of patterns that have colour work charts, and it would be nice to have a printer that can print said colour charts out….well in colour! I have also been going through paper quite quickly as it only prints on one side! I know I could print all the odd pages then orientate them so it prints “double sided” but I don’t want to faff and fanny about doing that!

TLDR; any good recommendations for a printer that can print colour and double sided for patterns?

Hello sorry for the wrong flair but there wasn’t really a flair for stitch help!

I’ve been doom scrolling on knitting posts (as one does) and I came across the beautiful King Charles Brogade, I think k it would look loverly as a jumper or a scarf. However the cast on instructions do not make sense to me, I’ll be honest it might just me being a big thicky thicky dumb dumb!

So the pattern calls for Multiples of 12 + 1 so if I’m doing one repeat I cast on 13 that’s easy, my question is if I’m doing say 3 repeats do I cast on (12x3)+1=37 or am I casting on (12x3)+3=39?

Sorry if this is such a simple question but I’d rather get it right

So I am planning on making some mini filet curtains! Currently looking around at patterns! I was wondering how do I measure the piece! Like if I see a pattern how can I figure out if the pattern will fit (even if it’s a bit smaller I don’t mind)

I know it’s probably down to my tension but as a rule of thumb if my window is 110cm wide, how do I figure which patterns would fit?

I am in love with filet crochet! It simple beauty but the complexity! I have been looking online at filet crochet patterns especially APL and the “Le Filet Ancien” collections! I think some of them would make wonderful Cafe Curtains in my kitchen!

Does anyone have a fool proof formula how many chains I need to start off with and which stitch I should make my first one into?

I’ll be using DC, 2C method! All I know is (Amount of Boxes) x 3 = Amount Needed + 1 then it’s how many turning chains and then do I go in the 7th or 8th stitch?

-Anything Else: This section is for any other information I may have missed. I enjoy playing chess (I am terrible, but would love to play more even via letters). I am not a religious man, but I can appreciate the beauty and happy to learn more about your religion, but please do not push it upon me. I would also like to add that, sadly, I do not own a million pens, stickers, stamps or washi tape (whatever that is), so I am unable to make my letters look aesthetically pleasing, but know that the letter was sent from the heart.....and also the post office.

So I am considering doing a Novena, but I’m not sure how to do it as some say you can do them any time providing you do them for the nine days, yet others say I have to do it nine days before the feast day.

To clarify I have been feeling drawn to St Sebastian with his feast day being 20th of January, could I start the St Sebastian Novena today or can I only start it on the 10/11th January?

Also side question can a novena be turned into a rosary novena? So could I turn a St Sebastian Novena into a St Sebastian Rosary Novena? If so how would that work?
