You connect it to Claude and can import media,run Underlord edits and export a link without touching the app. I ran the same 62-minute episode through that and through a browser-based agentic editor to see which approach is actually the future here. Same instruction both times: "remove false starts and long pauses, add captions, pull the best 45 seconds as a vertical clip

Descriptive + MCP Worked, and it was strange to watch. Came back ~70 seconds shorter with filler cut and captions on. What I liked: it edits a duplicate, so the original composition is untouched. What I didn't: I'm blind while it works. I can't see the timeline as it decides, so when the clip it chose was mediocre my only move was to re-prompt and wait again. The loop is slow because the feedback is text.

Native agentic cardboard Same instruction, but the chat and the timeline are the same screen, so I could watch what it did and correct it in place, "no, start that clip 4 seconds earlier", instead of re-running the whole request. That tightness is the actual difference, more than the underlying edit quality, which was comparable. Cost me $60/mo vs Descript's cheaper tiers, and there's no free plan, so it's a real commitment to find out.

My conclusion : MCP-into-an-existing-editor is a great automation surface for repeatable jobs you already know the recipe for. It's a bad interface for deciding, because deciding needs to be visual. Agentic-native tools are worse at automation-at-a-distance and better at the argument you have with the edit.

I write a strategy doc for a client, then they want a summary deck for leadership, then someone wants it as a page on the intranet. Same content three times, formatted three ways, but paid once. This is a freelance client that pays reasonably well and there’s steady flow of work - which is why i tolerate it.

Currently i copy paste between tools and reformat manually. about half a day each time and it's the least valuable half day of the month. has anyone got a workflow for this, or do you bill like designers do for dimension renders. 😭

So,I started tailoring properly just mirror the postings exact keywords(their words not synonyms) recoder bullets so that the most relevant sits at the top, swap the summary line per role, giving at least 20-30 minutes per application instead of just 2-3 minutes

3 weeks : 5 interviews same experience,same me, same positions,same just still angry with myself that it was this mechanical to begin with
