My partner and I are breaking up and neither of us will back down about the dog. Has anyone actually been through this?

Betty is a 3-year-old beagle mix and she has absolutely no idea what’s going on. We got her together two years ago. Split vet visits, shared her training, used the same dog app, he’d log her sessions, I’d track appointments and her meds schedule through the family sharing. She wasn’t his dog that I helped with or my dog that he tolerated. She was genuinely ours.

Now we’re done. And every single time I try to bring up how we can share her, it turns into the worst fight we’ve had. He wants Betty. I want Betty. We’re both serious, we both have a point, and somehow that makes it harder than if one of us just didn’t care. Who takes her to the vet? Who’s responsible when she’s sick at 2am? Who keeps track of what she eats? I don’t even know who’s going to pay for a Woofz subscription after this…
I’ve read about dog custody agreements and co-parenting a dog after a breakup but nothing actually explains what it looks like day to day when you’re not on speaking terms. For people who’ve split a dog between two homes, does it work long-term? Does the dog adjust or does the back-and-forth mess with them? And how do you even get through the logistics conversations without them turning into a fight about everything else? We agree on basically nothing right now except that we both love her.

TL;DR: breaking up, both want the dog, and can’t agree on custody. We are asking if sharing a dog between two homes actually works.

Changing the light through the day actually helped my afternoon slump

I moved my desk lighting to something cooler in the morning and much warmer after about four and the difference in how drained I feel by six has been bigger than I expected. I did it manually for a month before automating it. Curious whether anyone else runs this properly, and what temperature range you found actually made the difference rather than just looking nice.

Does the probiotic on a kibble bag survive the bag, or is it just label decoration?

Half the bags in the aisle now claim probiotics and almost none of them tell you the strain or how many are still alive by the time you scoop it. I got burned by a food that promised gut support and did nothing across three months. Trying to work out which brands actually put a number on the label rather than a claim. Which ones held up for your dog?

Is a river cruise honeymoon worth it?

We weren’t even looking at cruises at first, but somehow a Europe river cruise keeps coming back up when we talk about our honeymoon.
This would be for 2028, so we have time, but I’m trying to figure out if it’s actually a good honeymoon idea or just sounds romantic in my head. Celebrity river is one of the ones we’ve looked at, and Viking too. We just want a relaxing trip without too much traveling by train and navigating multiple hotel bookings.
Any tips or suggestions to make this this special?

Pet owners, how do you deal with hair constantly wrapping around vacuum brushes?

I swear pet owners should get a badge for “hours spent removing fur from vacuum brushes.”
I have two dogs. Honestly, the vacuuming isn’t even the annoying part. Every few days, I have to flip the vacuum over, cut away all the hair wrapped around the brush, and clean everything out. Sometimes I think I spend almost as much time maintaining the vacuum as I do actually cleaning the floors.
My current vacuum works fine, but dealing with tangled hair has become the biggest frustration. I’ve tried cleaning the brush more often and removing hair before vacuuming, but it still feels like a never-ending battle. I’ve also been looking into newer robot vacuum designs with anti-tangle features, but I’m not sure what works in real life. Any tricks to prevent hair from wrapping around vacuum brushes? Are there any tools or cleaning routines that make this easier?

Contractor did not test for asbestos, triggered $30k clean up + loss of all soft goods. Is a lawsuit viable?

Years ago I worked around asbestos during renovations, and lately I’ve been reading more about the legal side of asbestos exposure on Asbestos. com. One thing I’m still not clear on is when someone actually has a viable mesothelioma claim. Is a past exposure enough, or does it generally require a confirmed diagnosis and evidence linking the disease to that exposure? I’m not in the middle of a lawsuit or anything like that. I’m just trying to understand how these cases work from a legal standpoint and what usually has to be proven. If anyone here has experience with asbestos litigation, I’d appreciate the insight.

First week back at work and I have so many feelings about pumping again

I just finished my first week back at work after having my baby, and honestly… I didn’t expect it to hit me this hard. I was nervous about leaving my baby all week, obviously, but I was also weirdly nervous about pumping at work. Would I have enough time? Would I leak? Would I get enough milk? I had all these little worries running through my head while also trying to remember how to be a normal employee again. The first morning was probably the weirdest. I left the house with my work bag, lunch, pump bag, and about a million thoughts about my baby. I kept checking my phone wondering how she was doing.
And then, of course, my body decided to remind me I hadn’t pumped yet. I’ve been using the eufy S1 Pro during the workday, mostly because I really didn’t want to be tied to a wall or sitting in one spot with everything going on. Being able to get up, move around a little, and not feel like pumping completely stops my workday has made a bigger difference than I expected.
I’m still figuring out my schedule and honestly don’t know if I’m doing any of this “right.” Some days I pump plenty, some days not so much. I’m trying not to obsess over every ounce, but that’s easier said than done. The strangest part is how many emotions can exist at the same time. I’m happy to be back at work and have a little part of my old routine back. I also miss my baby like crazy. I’m proud that I’m still breastfeeding and pumping, but I’m exhausted from thinking about it all the time. Anyway, one week down. I guess that’s something. For those of you who went back to work while exclusively pumping, did the first few weeks feel this emotionally messy for you too? Did it eventually start feeling like a routine?

my landlord told me to use a washing machine cleaner and i have no idea where to even start

so i just moved into my second ever apartment and my landlord did a walkthrough and mentioned the washing machine smelled musty and i should run a washing machine cleaner through it before i do any laundry. i nodded like i knew what that meant and then immediately googled it and got completely overwhelmed
i genuinely did not know this was a thing. i thought you just put clothes in and it washes them. apparently there can be mold and buildup and all this stuff going on inside and now im low key stressed about it
i dont really know the difference between any of the products out there, like are they all basically doing the same thing? is there one thats actually better for someone who has never done this before and just wants it done right the first time? any advice would be genuinely appreciated

Affordable panel ready column refrigerators? Am I dreaming?

We are finalizing our kitchen cabinets, and I really want that seamless, hidden refrigerator look. Our designer quoted us for Sub-Zero columns, and I almost fainted. Are there any reliable brands that do true flush-mount panel-ready fridges that do not cost 12 grand apiece? I know you get what you pay for with refrigeration, but there has to be a middle ground between standard-depth and ultra-luxury.

Drivers who run the special needs routes, how do you keep the same kids all year? Ours keep getting shuffled

Been driving 9 years, last three on a special needs route with a monitor. I love this route, but the constant reshuffling is killing us. Every time we lose a driver to the shortage, dispatch redraws routes and my kids get moved around. Last month they put a sub on my run for two weeks while I was out, and one of my students, a boy with autism, completely shut down. Wouldn’t get on, meltdowns, mom was calling the school. Took him another two weeks to settle after I came back. The consistency is not a nice-to-have for these kids. It is the whole thing. Same driver, same monitor, same seat, same pickup time. Just want to keep my kids stable. Curious how other districts or companies handle this.

Cost to move a 3bd house from Naperville to Downers Grove?

We are under contract for a place in Downers Grove and need to move next month. We have a 3 bedroom house, mostly standard furniture but a really heavy solid wood dining table. Getting quotes all over the place right now. What is a realistic budget for a local suburb to suburb move like this?

What’s actually moving the needle for Instagram growth right now?

Okay so I’ve been at this for a while now and something feels off. Posting is consistent, my branding isn’t a mess, and I’m not someone who just made an account last week. But growth has basically crawled to a stop and I genuinely can’t tell if I’m doing something wrong or just hitting a wall everyone eventually hits. The stuff I keep overthinking: does hook quality actually matter more than how often you post now? Are collabs still pulling real results or has that become too crowded? And is the algorithm rewarding people who show up every day or just whoever happens to go viral once? I also stumbled across path social while going down a rabbit hole and I’m on the fence. Part of me thinks it could help kickstart some traction while I keep working on the content. The other part thinks it’s the kind of shortcut that sounds good until it isn’t. Genuinely just want to hear what’s working for real people right now, not recycled advice from a year ago. If you’ve changed something recently and actually seen your numbers move, I’d love to know what it was.

do any of these apps actually remember stuff past like a week or am i asking too much?

Okay so I’ve been using ai companions for a bit now and the one thing that keeps killing it for me is the amnesia. like we’ll have this whole backstory and inside jokes going and then a few days later it’s like talking to a stranger again..

is that just how all of them work or has anyone found one that actually holds onto context over longer stretches? not looking for anything crazy just something that doesnt make me re explain my whole life every other session.

Would you use kids companion for events?

Hi Mums!
My sister and I are exploring an idea and would love some honest feedback.

We're both experienced with kids and were wondering if parents would find value in a Kid Companion - someone who keeps your child engaged and looked after during weddings, birthday parties, family functions, shopping trips or other outings, so you can enjoy the occasion too.

Would you consider using a service like this?
If yes, what would make you trust someone with your child? If not, what's the biggest concern?
Would genuinely love to hear your thoughts.
