I have been given a pair of warm house socks with non slip dots on the soles. I would like to wear these as normal socks but can feel the rubber blobs under my feet in an annoying way in my boots. Does anyone know if it's possible to remove the dots?

A minor win today. After my weekly weigh in my BMI is 29.4 so I am officially overweight and no longer obese. Still a long way to go, but it finally feels possible and sustainable.
I'm attending a wedding in six weeks time. The dress code is "colorful cocktail. Vintage encouraged" and I was planning on wearing this midi length silk dress. I have just found out that the bride has a phobia of moths, which extends to images of moths and not just actual moths. Apparently butterflies are borderline and probably OK.
Do the butterflies on my dress look too moth-like?
I'm related to the bride and so will be in some extended family photos but otherwise expect to not be in the immediate vicinity of the bride for extended periods of time.
And no I am not worried about the ivory in my dress.

I'm travelling from Australia to the UK for a wedding at the end of October. The venue is a medieval building and garden. Dress code is "vibrant cocktail. Wear something that makes you feel fabulous" and there is a note about uneven flagstones.
I will be in the UK for three weeks before the wedding and thought it might be an excuse to do some shopping, but I have no idea where a 63 year old short (4'10") pear-shaped person would find an appropriate wedding outfit in London.
When I google "UK cocktail wedding" and "over 60" it looks like all pencil dresses and fascinators. I am too short for a pencil dress. What are my UK sisters wearing to weddings?
I will bring a backup dress (floral silk midi dress) but would love to find something new. I like buying wearable souvenirs on my holidays so am happy to spend a reasonable amount (up to 150 pounds).

I had expected a mid afternoon ceremony followed by the reception and have only one dress selected. I am travelling to attend the wedding and don't really have anywhere to get changed (besides the local park toilets lol). The dress has a polyester lining but I would remove that and substitute the cotton slip so it's not see through.

I need to move this tree fern (Dicksonia Australian Tree Fern) as we are converting this pergola into a sunroom. I'm in Canberra and am wondering how long it can remain out of the ground and how best to safeguard it until it new home is ready.
Would it be best to move it to a temporary in-ground location or just keep it out of the ground? I know winter is the best time to move them, but the building work is unlikely to be finished until much later in the year (hopefully before Christmas).
I'm going to be attending four weddings later this year and so far three out of four have said they will be having a wishing well at the venue and prefer not to receive gifts. So far, none of the couples have provided any link to a virtual wishing well.
I am very happy to give money but am just unsure about the practicalities of giving money at a wedding. Do people expect and receive a card with a bunch of cash in it, or do you deposit the money electronically and give a card at the wedding that says "check your bank account"?

I want to get a stack bond parquetry floor for my living room and I can't work out how to find someone in Canberra who does this less traditional laying method. I have been to several flooring places in Fyshwick and they all seem to only do large planks in herringbone pattern. I want the timber pieces to be the smaller size commonly used in the basket weave parquetry floors from the 1970s.

I'm looking to reconfigure this space to better suit a young adult but the current wardrobe is too small. So we are considering using some of the space from the adjoining (overly spacious) family room to creat a walk in wardrobe. The space left at the end in the family room will become a study nook.
The current wardrobe door opening outward does not work well with getting past the foot of the bed. Changing the swing on the door to open inwards loses a lot of storage space. I am considering removing the door but don't know whether to keep the door frame (820mm wide opening) or remove the frame to make a slightly wider doorway (possible to expand to 920mm). Obviously, keeping the door frame makes this slightly cheaper as there's no re-sheeting or plastering required.
Any thoughts either way?

I am 62F and have another 10kg to lose to reach my goal weight. I'm losing at an average of 400-500g per week, eating 1500 calories and 85-95g of protein per day. I'm not taking any collagen supplements, but am on menopause hormone therapy (estrogen and progesterone).
Had some visitors stay while we were away and noticed when we got back that our Caroma Urbane II tap now looks like this. My partner was able to scratch something off in the middle of the spout using his fingernail but we are unsure if this is scum from our visitors trying to clean the tap or the gunmetal surface finish "delaminating".
Anyone experienced something similar? I don't know whether to keep trying to gently scrape this off or whether it's time for a new tap. Tap is around 5 years old.
We scored a great airfare deal from Sydney to Zurich in late December and so will be in Switzerland for a few days from 29 December before heading on to Italy. We are elderly non-skiers (mid 70s) and would like some suggestions for places to go to see great mountain scenery that would be enjoyable without the need to ski.
We have been to Switzerland a couple of times before in late summer and have been on the glacier express and gotthard routes, and also spent time in Lugano, Lausanne, Lucerne, Zurich and Basel. We plan to spend one night in Zurich when we first arrive as we will have been travelling for around 36 hours from Australia.
We haven't visited the Lauterbrunnen/Bernese Oberland area but are just wondering how feasible it would be to visit in the winter by train. We like walking around and are OK to walk on snow, but don't want to plan a visit if there's realistically nothing to do except skiiing. We would likely be there over New Year. Recommendations on where to stay would be appreciated.
