Roof colour dilemma - new tiles only available in darker colours

Roof colour dilemma - new tiles only available in darker colours

We have a roof tile colour dilemma for our planned extension. Our current house has concrete Monier tiles from the mid 1960s. Monier still makes the same profile of tile (Tudor = Monier 100) but they only now make them in charcoal (Barramundi) or black (Sambuca) gloss.

I am trying to decide if a two tone roof looks terrible. I have used AI to mock up how it might look.

Key points:

  1. the extension is at the back of our house and won't be visible from the street.
  2. we might consider Colourbond for the extension roof but are worried about how easy it is to tie a metal roof into a tiled one. The new roof will join below the current ridge line.
  3. our current tiles are painted Woodland Grey and we would be open to repainting them but not replacing the tiles as they are in great condition the front of our roof has a large solar system.
  4. EDIT: has anyone mixed different tile materials and profiles? Monier has the right colour tiles in terracotta (Urban Shingle in Ravine colour)

Any views? And yes I know this looks like a Norwegian fishing shack but that's the look my partner wants.

Merino track pants - Aldi snow sale

Just a reminder that the Aldi snow sale this weekend includes their excellent 97% merino track pants. I love these track pants as they are super soft and warm. And they are superb value at $39.99.

How to take the shine off rose gold leather

https://preview.redd.it/83brjtibtt1h1.jpg?width=2531&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=304c41353d804fc1d305bfea164ccc6ee819768a

I bought these shoes recently and love the rose gold colour of the leather but they are just a bit shiny. Is there a product I could use to dull them down a bit and make the finish look a bit less shiny?

The uppers are leather. Ideally I want the body of the shoes to look a bit "distressed" like the toe caps.

OK for elderly wedding guest?

I'm helping a 76 year old friend decide what to wear to a relative's wedding and based on what's in his current wardrobe have come up with this outfit of blue suit with pink and white shirt - https://imgur.com/a/NdLMS2a

The dress code is "garden cocktail".

Is this OK? He's a pensioner and doesn't have a lot of money to spend on new clothes.

Should I add legs?

https://preview.redd.it/3ns58id0mf0h1.jpg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e9de1d501eb841ebd9d4f74222550a2a7555d4b8

I got this teak Chiswell corner unit a few years ago from the tip for AUD 15-. It is Koben series and dates to January 1973. It has lost its original plinth/legs. Some of this range have tapered round legs and some have plinths. I have a matching sideboard that has a plinth.

I am trying to decide whether to get this restored and add legs back. It is a lozenge shape so would need six legs.

Anyone bought Django and Juliette sample shoes?

I'm looking for some cream leather boots and found some from Django and Juliette ones that I liked for $239.95 - https://www.styletread.com.au/mockas-vanilla-leather.html

I have also found a very similar boot being sold as a Django and Juliette sample on eBay for $110- - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/168322004540 I actually slightly prefer the pull on Chelsea style to zip up.

I am just wondering if anyone knows what the deal is with samples. Obviously, it would be nice to save money but I don't want to buy a sample if it means it has been badly made or is unfinished and will fall apart. The sample is my size.

Hoping to get a sense check on our proposed outfits for an upcoming wedding. We are a couple in our mid-late 60s.

The bride is my niece so we will be in at least one official photo. She has been a bit vague about the dress code and has just said "cocktail or long dress". We have not yet received the official invitation for the wedding which is in November in Sydney, Australia (late spring).

The wedding is mid afternoon outdoors in a garden followed by an evening reception. The reception space has a rustic feel with overhead greenery and fairy lights.

I'm wearing a silk dress and vintage jacket, and carrying my mum's beaded clutch. Hubby is in a charcoal suit with a burgundy shirt and will have a silk pocket square. He prefers not to wear a tie and the father of the bride has said "tie? I don't even own one".

We haven't been to a wedding for years and don't often dress up. I just want to know if this is wildly off the mark.
