What Should I Look For in Sandals For Walking and Light Running?

Im considering purchasing sandals for walking and light running and Im wondering if theres anything specific I should look.

Do sandals for barefoot running have an arch or does that defeat the purpose of barefoot footwear?

How do barefoot sandals and minimalist shoes differ? Im assuming the minimalist shoes offer more cushion, grip, and support?

How Should I be Brewing Taiwanese Oolongs?

Ive been going through the oolongs I brought from taiwan tea crafts and Im wondering if Im brewing the lighter oolongs correctly.

Ive been brewing them grandpa-style with 90°C water and they seem to be lacking in flavor; not sure if its because theyre from last years spring harvest. If I use hotter water, its a little to astringent for me.

I seem to be having an easier time brewing more oxidized and roasted oolongs (not sure if ding dong falls in this category) the same way with 95°C water.

Any tips?

How Should I be Storing Matcha?

I recently purchased my first high-quality matchas and Im wondering how I should be storing them.

Based on some searching, it seems like the following would be appropriate:

freezer:

long-term (>1 year?), unopened

refrigerator:

short-term (2-3 months?), unopened

short-term, opened, used infrequently

other dark, dry place (cabinet?)

short-term, opened, used frequently

Matcha should be put in opaque containers, as well as a resealable bag if it came in one and the air should be squeezed out. It should also be allowed to come up to room temperature if put in the fridge or freezer (about how long should it take?).

If I want to use a frozen, unopen matcha, I should move it to the fridge for a while and then let get to room temperature?

If matcha has been in the fridge for a somewhat long time (4+ months), should it be transfered to the freezer?

Do These Temperature Guidelines Seem Right?

Does the following seem appropriate for chinese and taiwanese teas:

100°C:

  • heicha (puer (aged sheng, shou))
  • white (aged)

95°C:

  • black
  • oolong (highly oxidized/roasted)
  • puer (semi-aged sheng)
  • white

90°C:

  • oolong (lightly oxidized/roasted)
  • puer (young sheng)

85°C: yellow

80°C: green

Any changes youd make and/or caveats youd add?

This seems to work well grandpa-style for me

If these guidelines seem accurate, feel free to comment the temperature thatd work well for other teas and Ill add them

Questions Regarding Hojicha (Loose and Powdered)

I recently started making matcha and Im considering purchasing powdered hojicha. Is powdered hojicha supposed to be prepared with just water or as a latte?

Im also considering loose leaf hojicha(s) and Im wondering which you recommend? Im considering purchasing from here

How should loose leaf hojicha be prepared? Ive read that it should be prepared with 80°C water and that near boiling or boiling water can be used if you want a smokier taste.
