Has Israel paid the price for its arrogance and recklessness?
Today, news on Arab channels reported a violent explosion at an Israeli military factory in Beit Shemesh, 15 km west of Jerusalem. The factory is named TAMAR and is involved in manufacturing rocket engines, most likely related to the well-known Iron Dome system, also known as Barak 1.
The Israeli government is reassuring its citizens that the explosion was planned within the factory environment, but at the same time, Netanyahu has begun discussions with the government to prepare for a confrontation with Iran. This suggests that what happened in Beit Shemesh was a surprise Iranian missile strike, or at least that is what Israel suspects and leans toward in private.
Israel's problem is that it believes preemptive and surprise strikes during negotiations are its exclusive domain; they did not imagine that the Iranians might play the same trick on them.
During the war, Iran struck petrochemical plants in the Negev and the north that were important for the production of Iron Dome missiles, and also bombed several other military factories near Haifa. What happened today in Beit Shemesh was checkmate and the final nail in the coffin of Iron Dome missile manufacturing.
The situation has become very dangerous following the depletion of the Arrow 2 (Patriot) and Arrow 3 (Patriot Pac 3) missiles, which are manufactured by Boeing in America, and the depletion of the David's Sling (Barak 2) missiles, which are manufactured in India.
Iron Dome missiles are the last line of defense, and they are manufactured in Israel; striking this industry strips Israel of its defenses and its ability to repel enemy missiles.
The explosion was extremely powerful; the warhead weight could not have been less than 2 tons. Iran possesses missiles carrying 2 tons of explosives. But Turkey has also announced that it possesses missiles reaching speeds of Mach 25 with a payload of up to 3 tons. Turkey also possesses highly explosive warheads known as thermobaric, which are extremely destructive and which Turkey calls "Wrath" bombs. The explosion that occurred at the TAMAR military factory was severe and horrific.
Less than a month ago, the Israeli government announced it was discussing a law authorizing the Israeli military to launch a preemptive strike against Turkey. So, has Israel paid the price for its arrogance and recklessness?
