How to make greek yogurt not suck

So, I’m trying to get more protein in the morning, as I find it helps kickstart my ADHD brain into normal functioning. The thing is, I have IBS and some food restrictions that make it hard to find something that works. In comes Greek Yogurt.

I really want to like greek yogurt, but there are some things I struggle to get over - namely the after taste and the dry/chalky feeling it leaves in my mouth. It’s kinda a thing with any yogurt, to be fair, but greek yogurt tends to be especially rough. It’s acidic and a bit sour, which I can struggle with. Does anyone have any neat tips/tricks for improving these issues??

How am I meant to find a new shampoo?

My scalp and hair have been a nightmare. I have 2b-3a hair and an itchy, oily scalp. I used to use the Love Beauty Planet brand for shampoo and conditioner, but I think it’s getting discontinued because I can’t find some anywhere. So, I’ve been trying to find a new shampoo. I’m like overwhelmed with options.

I have pretty sensitive skin, and some fragrances and conditioners make me break out. Anything too moisturizing weighs my hair down bad. I tried the Vanicream shampoo, and my hair felt SO brittle before I conditioned, and even after. Only felt better after my styling routine of Ouidad climate control leave-in, ouidad vital curl gel, and diffusing. Returned that, switched to Native volumizing shampoo, and I’ve broken out in acne.

So, I’m back on the search, and I’m just frustrated trying to figure out how I’m meant to find a shampoo and conditioner that works for me. Some people say avoid sulfates and silicones like the plague, others say they’re great, others say one is great but one is the devil, I just… What exactly do these work and how can I find a shampoo that actually works for my needs beyond trial and error?

Apartment feedback?

Hi all! I’m looking to move to the North Decatur / NDH area in a few months, and would love some feedback on my top apartment pick atm, Cortland 3131. I know it’s barely in Decatur, so I totally get if it doesn’t fit this sub, I just don’t know where else to ask haha. If anyone has any strong opinions on them or any other smoke free communities in the area, I’d love to hear them! :D

Lowkey my best results ever

And it’ll probably be gone by morning, based on how soft my hair feels 🫠 that’s what I get for trying out a new shampoo and overcompensating on the conditioning lol. If anyone has any tips/advice for how to make it even better, I’m all ears! :D

and yes I blur my face out, I am ✨self conscious✨

My routine was: Vanicream sensitive Skin shampoo x2, Love Beauty Planet Mandarin Conditioner. Out the shower, flip upside down, comb hair into place + soak it. Spray in Ouidad Climate Control Leave in, comb through. Then rake through Ouidad VitalCurl Tress Effects gel in two sections before scrunching in an extra amount. Then, I scrunch with a cotton t shirt and diffuse (hover upside down for 5-10 mins before cup diffusing side to side until 80-90% dry). I separated clumps when mostly dry.

Cortland 3131 and surrounding area thoughts!

I do plan on trying to talk to people at the complex, but I'd love to hear people's opinions on the Cortland 3131 complex, or the area around it. I'm struggling to understand if it's in the "good" part of Decatur or not. I assume because it's so close to Toco Hills, it's good? But I don't know enough about atl, in all honesty. Any thoughts and opinions are appreciated!

Glasses reflecting onto my face??

I got these Raybans a couple weeks ago, and I knew this reflection would be annoying but the glasses are so cute otherwise, plus it’s only in some lighting / angle dependant. I just wear the glasses further down my nose, no there’s less reflection, but it’s not perfect and I have to adjust more. Any recommendations for how I can fix this / how an optician might be able to fix it? Or am I just living with this until I get new frames lol

How am I meant to FIND friends/community?

Hey!! I have landed my first job and am planning a move for the new year (after spending a few months working + living with my parents).

At the moment, I don’t have friends… like at all. That’s something I’m really hoping to change. I also live in the middle of nowhere, and most people around here.. don’t share my beliefs at all, we’ll say.

So, I’m trying to figure out how I can go about making friends when I move to my new area. I’m in my early 20s and queer, and I really just want some friends haha. I’m mostly struggling with like… where do I look? I like to crochet, but can I find like… crochet circles? How? That kind of stuff. My only thought is to find a cat rescue to volunteer with because I like cats, but sometimes I want something… more lowkey lol. I hope this question makes sense!!

Trying to plan my first apt - how to pick a rug?

Hi all! I'll be moving into my first real apartment (after living at my parents' / college dorms) soon, and I'm trying to plan out my space. I really love a cozy but airy space, which has been what's informing my color scheme. I'm pretty happy with the furniture choices, but the rug is stumping me! I've always struggled to pick one haha. I made a couple canva collages with the furniture and rug options I'm considering, if anyone has any ideas! I'm also open to different colored furniture, as nothing has been bought yet haha. I'm just planning a shit ton in advance. Also obviously nothing is correctly to scale, just generally placed how i'd put it in an apartment.

My Punkin turned 14 today!

Celebrating with everyone I can. I got her a little Tiki Cat broth with Tuna Pieces treat as her birthday treat + a new toy and some supervised concrete time. My parents think I’m ridiculous, but I love this little munchkin so much. I can’t wait to move out with her and start our independent girlie lives in a few months.

She got diagnosed with hyperthyroidism this year, we’ve had other pets get sh*t diagnoses, too. It just felt important to cherish her today. Technically, we aren’t 100% certain when her birthday is, as she was adopted from a rescue (she was found a few days/weeks old in a barn and was bottle fed), but I’ve always celebrated it today.

Planning to do a little photoshoot with her later and give her all the cuddles her heart could desire :)

I need a budget reality check

Hello all! I'm in my early 20s, just signed on for my first role, and am planning to move out of my parents' place in Winter after saving up for a few months. Biweekly, I'll be making about 1750 (including insurance and 3% 401k contribution). I am still figuring out what a reasonable apartment budget looks like as I hunt for apartments - I'm looking at the North Decatur area in Georgia (work in North Druid Hills), if anyone knows it haha. This is approximately what my budget looks like - I know there's not a lot of flexibility, and that's my big concern. Pretty much every amount except gas, groceries, and my cat's needs are estimated. "Punkin" is my 14 year old cat who will be living with me. If there's any advice I can get, that'd be great!

Item Est. Amount
Rent 1525
Groceries 300
Utilities 250
Punkin Meds 9
Punkin Supplies 100
Phone 25
Car Insurance 200
Gas 80
Renter's Insurance 25
Eating Out 100
Savings 400
Clothes 100
Other Purchases 200
Extra 191.88

Is Lenox Park a Safe Area?

Hi all! You may remember me from a few days ago asking for apartment recs. I’ve been able to narrow down the list, including some mentioned in that thread! Right now, my favorite one is in Lenox Park. However, growing up in Georgia (Forsyth County), we got told a lot that Lenox was a dangerous area. I know that LP is in Brookhaven, but it's still pretty close to Lenox Square. I'm just curious - were these rumblings just... because Forsyth County is what it is, or if there is real substance to them / real safety issues? My parents are immigrants who didn't grow up here, so they also don't know much beyond the rumors that floated around Forsyth County. My other options are in North Druid Hills, which I hear is safer.

How to pick between apartments when all have pros and cons

Hi all! I asked a few days ago about apartment nice to haves, and now I have a new question.

I’m between 3 apartments (mostly) and struggling to decide how to pick. All are gated communities and have in unit w/d. I have to fit a desk (hybrid job) and cat supplies (i’ve got a 14 year old cat haha). Would love any input y’all might have!

Apartment 1 - 661sq ft. 18 minute rush hour commute, but 3 mins (11 walking) to grocery stores and shopping center. No dining room or pantry, but there is a “flex room” / sunroom. The management is also super highly rated, and it’s a smoke free community. (might be able to squeeze a bigger unit, but it depends on a lot of factors, so I’m mainly considering the smaller one right now)

Apartment 2 - 808 sq ft. 5 minute rush hour commute. Much blockier (less open concept), smaller kitchen, no pantry. Designated dining room + a patio/balcony. Lots of bathroom countertop space. Decent closet space.

Apartment 3 - 750 sq ft. 9 minute rush hour commute. Close to train tracks (MARTA, if you know ATL), but not super close (not sure about sound). Small ish kitchen, but good enough, pantry. Very modern, more open concept. Dining room space. Smoke free community. Most expensive. Smaller bedroom.

Torn between a few complexes

Hi all! I’ve been posting in a few ATL subs as I try to narrow down my top complexes to target for a move in a few months. I’ve narrowed it down to 3-5, and would love feedback!

Cortland 3131 - About 18 minutes commute in rush hour, but right next to Toco Hills. Smaller unit, but I could have a sunroom area for my desk or my cat’s litterbox

Evergreen Lenox Park - About 9 minutes commute in rush hour, but close to MARTA so I’m worried about noise. Larger and more modern looking unit.

Briarhill Apartments - About 5 minutes commute in rush hour. Underbudget, so gives me flexibility, but still a decently sized unit.

I’m also considering Gables Century Center and Madison Brookhaven, but less than the other three. Any feedback on these choices/what to prioritize? I’ve never truly lived in ATL or on my own, so I don’t know if a shorter commute is truly worth it or if it’s better to have grocery stores super close and stuff, and all that. I have a senior cat who I don’t want to be too stressed by noise, which is a big consideration for me.

Looking for a sweatproof/breathable unlined bra for larger sizes

I've discovered a love for unlined bras, even as a 34DDD. However, the one I have is a cheap mesh one from Amazon. The wire slips a lot, and I am still pretty damn sweaty. It's a plunge shaped mesh bra. I'm looking to get a nice one that will help reduce the sweat now that I know I like unlined/mesh bras. I'm currently considering CUUP or Aerie - Cuup has a convertible bra, while Aerie has bras without darts. However, with both, I'm concerned about the sweat aspect to the band. I'm extremely heat sensitive and live in the southern US.

What are “nice to haves” for apartment life?

My birthday is going to happen right before I plan to move out of my parents house into my first apt, if all goes well. So, I’m thinking of putting some “nice to haves” for an apartment on my list for gifts.

These can be like upgraded basics, or things that aren’t basic but upgrade the apartment experience, etc. I’m curious to hear from people living in apartments what y’all would put!

I’ve lived in a dorm, but I figure apartment life is different, and my parents haven’t lived in apartments since the 80s, and it was in a different country, so… not much help there haha.

Yet another apartment hunting post (Brookhaven/Dunwoody/In Between)

Hi all! I just landed a job in the North Druid Hills area (like just off i-85), and I'm trying to find the right apartment complexes. My budget for rent+fees is $1450, I'm trying to get a one bedroom, in-unit washer/dryer, ideally no carpet in the living room. I have a car, so I'm willing to commute from, say Sandy Springs or Dunwoody (I'm going to be commuting from my parents' home for the first few months, anyway). I don't care about nightlife or anything, just want to live a chill life alone with my cat as i enjoy my 20s. I'm currently considering the ones below, if anyone has any comments/suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

Briarhill Apartments

Hawthorne North Druid Hills

The Marq at Brookhaven

Madison Brookhaven

Arden Vue

Audubon Briarcliff

The Harrison

Dunwoody Village

Aven Chastain

Atlantic Brookhaven

And yes, I know atlhousing exists, but they intimidate me a little bit haha.

How do I know if an apartment is "good"?

Hi all! I'm starting to look for my first apartment post-grad school, and I'm really struggling. My biggest fear is signing a lease, moving in, and giving my cat fleas or getting bed bugs or just hating living somewhere.

I'm really struggling to parse out how to identify the good apartments. Of course, I know to check location / distance from work, and price. But that doesn't tell me much about how GOOD the apartment is, if that makes sense. I'm at the lower end of the budget spectrum (1k-1.3k total is ideal) so I know I'm not gonna get top of the line, but I still want a decent apartment. any tips?

How am I meant to know if an apartment is "good?"

I'm starting to search for my first apartment after grad school. I've lived alone in on-campus dorms, so I know I want to live alone, but I'm struggling to figure out how to pick an apartment.

Obviously, I know check out the location, crime rates, etc and price. But how much should I trust things like Google reviews? How can I get a good idea of what these apartments are really like? I'm terrified of signing a lease and then ending up with bed bugs or smth. I'm not looking in direct ATL, rather Norcross, Sandy Springs, that vibe, due to my budget. I keep finding places that look nice but have very few ratings or very poor ratings.
