Hi zusammen :)

Mein Studium ist bald vorbei und ich bereite aktuell meine Ref Bewerbung vor. Eine Frage steht noch aus: würde ich mein Ref auch an einer Gesamtschule antreten?

Pro: ich möchte sowieso die Weiterbildung für Gesellschaftslehre (habe Erdkunde als Fach) machen und habe bisher in Praktika gute Erfahrungen mit KGS und IGS gemacht. Generell könnte ich mir also auch langfristig vorstellen an einer Gesamtschule zu arbeiten

Con: ich höre immer wieder von anderen (angehenden) Gymnasiallehrkräften, dass das Ref auf der "eigentlichen Zielschule" sinnvoller wäre und ich ja immer noch auf eine Gesamtschule wechseln kann.

Was sagt ihr? Habt ihr ähnliche Erfahrungen gemacht? Was würdet ihr mir raten?

I need to cite the Marvel show Echo in a paper using MLA 9th edition. My problem is, Purdue tells me to list the creators of the show, but nobody is expliccitly listed as a creator. Do I just list the two directors instead?
Edit: Also, which date do I list when the episodes came out over the span of 2 years?

Edit: well I found the solution. Apparently the clips cannot be dragged while the audio is just paused, it needs to be fully stopped to move the clips. I'll leave the post up in case anyone else has the same problem

Hi, newbie audacity user here.

I'm trying to edit a podcast I recorded for a uni project but have zero experience with audacity (or any other audio programme). I chose audacity because it was free of charge and ai.

I needed to re-record some passages and am now trying to adjust the different audios (?) so that they neatly blend into each other. But for some reason I don't understand, sometimes I just can't use the manual mouse drag. I will hover my mouse over the header of the file but it won't change into the hand symbol that it usually does when I could grab the individual tracks. Clicking, holding and trying to drag just does nothing. What am I overlooking? :/ Sorry if my wording isn't too accurate, English isn't my first language :/

Hello everyone, I need your help, especially of the native speakers among you.

Rn, I (not a native speaker) am working with a text describing an Indigenous group. The text uses the word "habitat" to describe their homeland. This made me pause, because as far as I know, "habitat" is most commonly used to describe the home of an animal or plant, its the same for my native language. The Oxford and Cambridge dictionary second this. To me, this feels demuhanizing to the Indigenous people, using vocabulary that is usually utilized to describe animals for humans.

I did a little more research and the Merriem-Webster dictionary actually lists habitat as "the typical place of residence of a person or a group", but as a secondary meaning after the animal/plant descriptor. But, the example in that case is "the arctic habitat of the Inuit", which has a... taste to it. This made me think and leads me to my question for you all:

Would you second my gut feeling that this use of the word is intentionally or carelessly dehumanizing the Indigenous group as it would usually not be used for non-Indigenous cultures? Or am I overreacting and habitat pertaining to persons is a normal use nowadays?

I will create two comments under this post, with each option. Please upvote the one you would think of first, but please also let me know your thoughts on this, I am very interested in them!

I've recently gotten the Visual dictionary for Fire and Ash and I got a bit confused by Kiri's fact sheet where her clan status was listed as Tsakarem. I was confused by this as we never see her receive any tsahìk training in the movies or any mentioned that she received any while still living with the Omaticaya, despite her connection to Eywa. Even more confusing to me that at the same time, Neytiri is listed as tsakarem as well.

Does anyone know a little more about this?

Hi! I'm a light sleeper and am currently looking for earplugs for festivals. I have used the Loop quiet before for study sessions and sleeping at hostels but not at festivals.

I've used drugstore Oropax wax earplugs too, but I am wondering if the loop sleep would be the better option. The price makes me hesitate though. They're 20€ more than the ones I had before (they broke eventually :( ) but "only" have 3db more sound protection?

Is that investment worth it or should I go with a new set of quiets and pair them with wax earplugs during the festival?

My bookclub and I are looking for a new read an would like summery vibes; but without a romance.

We have read a lot of fantasy but are ready for a regular fiction read. Also, no horror please.

Edit, putting this up front: I can't really use the in ear foam ones because my ear tunnel is quite tight and short, they'll just fall out...

See title. Unfortunately for me, I am a very light sleeper and need at least remotely quiet conditions to be able to sleep. I've already decided I won't go to the big festivals anymore until I have the money to pay for a hotel/hostel/etc nearby, but I still want to visit the smaller ones where chances for quiet nights are higher.
Still, last year that ended with me crying from exhaustion and being unable to sleep despite putting wax earplugs and pulling my sleeping bag over my head.

So, what are your recommendations for maximum sound cancelling that aren't bluetooth headphones? Do I need to go for industrial over ears or are there any other good on- ear earplugs you can recommend?

Hey zusammen. Ich liebe dir Marke Popflex, die Größeninklusivität (!), die Qualität, die Gedanken hinter den Designs, dass die kopfsprungsichere Bikini Tops haben die nicht nach Sportbh aussehen, die GROßEN Taschen in jedem Kleidungsstück und so weiter und so fort.

Großes Problem: Die Sachen kommen aus den USA und es kommen auf jede Bestellung noch Zoll und Versand oben drauf. Zu besonderen Anlässen habe ich mir ein paar Teile gegönnt (Gönnen/Luxus sind hier wirklich das richtige Stichwort) aber ich hätte gerne eine Option bei der wenigstens der Kostenfaktor Versand/Zoll wegfällt.

Die Empfehlungen können auch gerne etwas höherpreisiger sein, es geht mir ja um Artikel für meinen persönlichen Luxus

Hey lovely people, rn I (27, from a middle European country) am confusion and was hoping an exchange about our experiences would help.

I was assigned female at birth, but when I was young my parents didn't care as much to put me into gendered clothing/colors. Maybe its because I'm the older sibling but my dad always played football with me and my grandpa would take me with him on construction sites (he was retired but helping my uncle with his construction business, nothing dangerous happened, we mostly delivered supplies and he just generally showed me around).

In school and sports, my family was supportive of my initial "un-girly" interest in sciences and supported me against societal notions that girls are not as good at stuff because they're girls.

But from puberty onward, i felt more need to conform clothes wise from parents and society alike, but I was never extremely girly. And even though I was too scared to rebell at that age, as many teens are, i advocated for others who were breaking gender norms more openly and made my first queer friends.

As an adult, I finally let my leg hair grow out and cut my hair short (against my family's protest) and started questioning a lot of stuff before/during/after my comming out as bi. I started resenting society's need to put a gender label on effing everything.

Here is where I am unsure: I like my body and wouldn't want an amab body. But when I see the woman box in questionaire boxes I hesitate. I know I'm not a man for sure, I feel repulsed by the idea, but I also don't feel like an innate connection to "woman". Honestly, if I could I would refuse any label. Leave me be a human in a body that happens to have boobs. Let me wear elaborate make up and heels one day and flannel and boots the other. I want to scream, why must I label myself? Purely for your (society) comfort?

But this got me thinking. Am i so uncomfortable with gender because of how it is defined? Or would i feel this aversion even if the gender roles were less strict?

Lemme know what your experiences were. Has someone felt the same? And if yes, what was your conclusion?

My title may sound weird but hear me out! I am insecure about the following citation:

Example text that represents info I have taken from two consecutive pages and "direct quotation from the 2nd of the 2 pages".

My question is, how do I place the citation? Do I just do (Author page number Xf) after the direct quotation or do I need to do sth else to mark the text beforehand as quoted too? If it were the other way around I would just:

"dierect quotation" (Author page number) rest of the quotation yada yada yada (author page number).

Can you see where I am coming from? And am I too blind to see an example of how to handle this on Owl Purdue or don't they have a guideline for this?

Hi, siehe Titel. Seit Oktober habe ich eine Baustelle vor der Haustür die tagsüber schon mehr als genug Lärm macht. Ich habe mich zähneknirschend damit abgefunden meine noise cancelling Kopfhörer eben von 7 bis 16h tragen zu müssen (Homeoffice). Der ganze Spaß wurde weniger laut in letzter Zeit und ich hab mich gefreut, dass bald liest vorbei ist. Bis heute morgen. Heute morgen werde ich um sage und schreibe 6.30 aus dem Schlaf gerissen, weil die Straße gereinigt wurde (bevor neue Markierungen drauf können). Ich dachte ich hör nicht richtig. Ich hatte nichtmal ne Ahnung das irgend eine Form von Straßenreinigung lo laut sein könnte, dass ich bei geschlossenem(!) Fenster auch genau do gut laut Musik in meinem Zimmer hören könnte. Das war n kleiner LKW der da durch die Straße fuhr, keins von den kleinen Gefährten die auf nen Gehweg passen.

BIDA wenn ich finde das auch solche Arbeiten wenigstens bis 7 Uhr warten können?
