People using the “Stephen Hillenburg would’ve hated this” argument.

People saying that Stephen Hillenburg would’ve hated something or “didn’t die for this.” when something new about SpongeBob comes out that they don’t like. People who worked on the show said that Hillenburg knew about the spin-offs and likely approved of it before he died since he worked on Sponge on the Run, which acted as a backdoor pilot for Kamp Koral. People base their anger on a tweet from Paul Tibbit, who hasn’t worked on SpongeBob in years, and an interview from 2009 (a long ass time ago) saying he never expected to see any SpongeBob spin-offs any time soon, which people for some reason misinterpreted as him saying “I hate spin-offs and will never do one.”
