i got these fish 2 and a half months ago, they’re some kind of livebearer. i caught them at my local lake right before it dryed up. i thought they were guppies aT first, because the males have gonopodiums but they’re not coloured like guppies at all and they seem a lot more aggresive then my regular guppies AND guppies are not native here (i don’t think?) got them in saint joseph missouri, at lake contrary/eclipse lake. they’ve also had fry, but them and the betta in the tank are them all every time and none have survived. they all have this really pretty sheen on there scales, like purple. even the females have colour on the bodies, which is another thing that’s pointing against guppies. they live in a very large tank, residing with one bullfrog/greenfrog tadpole i got free from petco. (not acctualy sure what that is either, but this tank is very much natural swamp/lake themed so i figured he would fit in. everyone gets along amaizng.) they’re coloured, but not COLOURED like guppies it’s a lot more subtle.

2 females one male, i haven’t named my male yet but i named the females june and cherry. june is the big one, cherry is the little one. cherry has always been behind the other two, she hatched first so i have no clue why. i hatched all 3 myself, they had 2 siblings who unfortunately didn’t make it past 2 days post hatch.

i’m a little panicky about these things, so i figured i’d ask here since i don’t really have an eye for these things

ok, i’ve had my goldfish donatello for 4 years now. after his latest tank upgrade right before his 4th birthday, i noticed he was almoast schooling just with himself and looked so good ungodly pathetic and sad, but anytime i tried adding guppies or some other fish that’s not as big he just ate them and i figured since my tank is 5-6 feet long, it’s probably big enough for a friend so i went by a bait shop to get another goldfish that was the same size as him (he would 100% eat it if i got a baby from petsmart, and parasites i did not want to risk introducing to the tank) even though i don’t think it’s entirely necessary, i installed a second filter on the tank just incase (canister). not sure why, but donatello acctualy doesn’t produce a lot of waste by himself and my nitrates are always at like 5-30 in 2 weeks time without the plants i recently added, but since i added the new goldfish i added lots of emersed pothos plants (i tried duckweed first since it would grow faster then they could eat it in theory, the whole 3 fistfuls i added were gone the next morning courtesy of donatellos gluttonous self.) i’m still trying to look into what other emersed plants i can add since i don’t have a light for this tank because ive struggled to find one big/long enough to work for it on a budget, but not a single plant has survived donatellos insatiable appetite besides pothos, he even figured out a way to devour amazon sword when he was 2 despite the sword being over half his size. anyways, this is donatello wanda and connie. wanda is the feeder minnow i added in for donatellos 4th birthday present though i dont think its visible in the picture (he got a LOT of gifts for his 4th birthday.) i added 2 and he only ate 1. it feels so odd looking at them both because donatello is pretty badly stunted, though he’s still huge but his tail is so much bigger then connie’s it’s crazy. i love them both SOOO much, connie isn’t quite as loving and affectionate as donatello, but her beautiful colour pattern deffinitely makes up for it. donatello has been one of my only friends for 4 years, it feels weird to say that about a fish but it’s true. he lays in my hand, kisses my fingers, and greets me like he’s acctualy happy to see me which is more then enough to keep me happy and going. he’s been here so long he’s become part of the family. my grandma used to call him “the stupid feeder fish” and hated that i had him now she calls him by name or “the favourite fish” when talking about him, i did try moving his tank off my dresser because the tank was taking up the entire 6 foot top but i couldn’t lift it even after draining all the water out, but it hasn’t had any issues so i just left it anyways. donatello is also key to my guppy breeding projects, since he eats the deformed fry for me we’re like buisness partners.hes been with me so long and im so greatful he lasted through my horrendous care for the first year i had him when i didn’t know what i was doing. also, yes his tank has only fake plants inside because as i mentioned earlier he’s eaten every single live plant i’ve thought to put in with him, over the years ive tried 10-15 types and the only ones that ever work are emersed with only roots in the water. i dont know the tank size in gallons which is why i said its 5-6 feet long, because its bigger then me and im 5’1 and it takes up pretty much my entire dresser which is 6 feet long and heavy duty.

it’s 2 days old and standing tall and making crow noises occasionally, why is it doing this? it’s the only one out of 3 that are. theirs a heated side, cool side, water, and grounded up food. this is SO odd, i had a quail with the same patterns experience early crowing aswell but like.. why

i posted the last one on my alt but bob is doing awesome, granmda isn’t nearly as mad as i thought she’d be and she adores him. seems like he may be becoming part of the family permanently,,, but that decision hasn’t been completely made yet. we’re getting some new dewormer for him from upco today, as i’m not confident the one i gave helped because i didn’t realize it was expired. he’s such a chill guy, he doesn’t react at all when we hold him like this and in fact loves it which none of my resident cats do. he doesn’t seem to be having much of an appetite, but that’s given considering i just removed 20 something flies out of a gaping hole in his butt it is probably hurting. he has pooped and peed though, didn’t seem to be in much pain and he will eat if we give him eggs tuna or stuff like that just not our dry kitten food. i belive he may have manx ancestry in him, that’s what his (dumped) mother was.

my quails seem to have both pipped on the sharp end instead of the air cel… one has hatched the other is still working and 3 more pipped in the correct spots but why are they doing it different? also my hatched chick is bullying the other eggs so much💀💀 he keeps pushing them around and pecking them it’s so funny, he isn’t doing any real damage and looks very healthy. i’m thinking of naming it petrie or little foot after a dino show i watched when i was younger, since petrie was my favourite. i have candled them and they aren’t internal pipping either to my knowlege only external and then zipping , and the pip holes are not where the air cel placement is. both eggs have made significant progress, the other one is working on hatching now but this feels odd.

i have a guppy tub i’ve been using for a bit. i used some sand i had sitting out and i think a grass seed blew in and it’s growing… it’s been growing for 2 months now no root rot nothing. it’s just standard lawn grass. should i try and grow more of it? i know it’s a grass seed because i can litteraly still see the seed. what the heck?

0 amonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate, 6.5 ph, 5 gallon with plants. i’m aware the substrate is NASTY but some baby guppies just showed up in his tank and they’ve been eating it, so i’m waiting until they grow a bit more to cap it off.

i found it in my local land made lake that has almoast dried up while looking for other stuff. i picked a few up and put them in my quarintine tank, what are these?

my dragonscale fishlix has started getting spots and patches of black, they don’t look like tumors and he has no eye problems just the black spots. he’s yellow/white, and he is also growing his fins super weak since he had fin rot 3 months ago. i’ve given him almond leaves and stress coat but it just still grows back weak and he bites them off. i upgraded his tank with more plants, driftwood, and an air stone. his previous setup was fine it just wasn’t very bottom decorated. the top held most of the plants and the bottom just had his hide so i switched it, and he seems to be much more active’s

petals is such a cutie i love raising toads so so so much, been something i’ve always loved since i was a toddler. (by the time i was 9 i had MUTLIPLE toad “sanctuary” racks in my bedroom i used out of large plastic dressers, plants, and moss. my grandma hated it but i loved them. they’ve all passed from old age by now though.)
