I'm thinking about getting into this line of work. It's just a thought currently. Initially I was leaning towards Shopify over Etsy. But I understand that Shopify is similar to a website building platform with some more structural arrangements for sales.

I've read people saying that if you go with Shopify you will have to be more involved with the security, marketing, and transaction part of the site. While Etsy is much more like a traditional sell and buy platform where everyone has their own shop within it. And much of the SEO and all of the security and transaction aspects are handled by Etsy.

Am I understanding this correctly? If so, it would seem like going with Etsy would be the smarter choice.
