Career transition advice: How to transition from Finance Manager to an HR role?
Hi my fiancée has been, in my eyes, suffering in finance for years. She's amazing (efficient and affective) at her job but it's a lot of stress and she's working 12hrs a day. She's the hardworking smart type which I have to try to remind her to not work so hard at 10pm when she's working on expenses.
She started out of college into a startup with a great mentor. She did every roll (including HR) in the beginning, picked the finance route, and ended up pretty much running the company. She eventually had to process the acquisition of the company which took a lot out of her as well. After a few years the company let her go as well as most of the company including the CEO. She found a job at her current company which is based in Asia so she's working long hours.
She's quite easy to get along with and everyone likes her. She's been getting close to her HR department and thinking about moving over.
TL/DR: My question is how can she best prepare herself to transition to an HR roll from finance? What qualification or experience is HR looking for?
(I'm a tradesman so please excuse me if I didn't use correct terminology as I'm not in the corporate world)
