Which should I choose?

Totals are approx bc I’m not gonna sweat it over a couple bucks.

2 x 1g random gold bars on APMEX at spot ($134) + 23 in taxes and 4 for shipping with signature

Pay less per bar but more money in taxes for random bars

Total approx $300

Or

2 x 1g Valcambi bars tax free for $145 each on r/pmsforsale + $6 tacking

More per bar but no taxes and slightly riskier shipping

Total approx $300

What’s the better buy here?

Collectr undervalued my cards.

I thought all I could get for my eevee ponchos was the listed price on collectr. I shared with my friend who is a card shop owner and he told me these prices were way undervalued. He told me I could easily get hundreds more and showed me prices on TCG, and something called card ladder, which priced them higher. While collectr priced the glaceon and leafeon at about $500 a piece, my friend was able to sell them for $800 each through at a card show.

The lesson here is to not use this app to price your collection. Do deeper more thorough research before selling rare cards like these!

AIO I want to change my mind for the flooring and my dad says it’s too late

I (35f) am visiting my parents at their home this summer, but this will eventually become my home. I may move in again after losing my job and the plan is for me to inherit it.

Well my dad’s been wanting to remodel the house for a long time and got the opportunity to do so while I’m here. However he is a senior citizen who is stubborn as a mule. Won’t ask for help from any of his male cousins or friends, insists on doing all the flooring work himself, and blows up at my mom and me if we make suggestions or offers options.

He rushed us to pick tiles for the floor in one day after we had spent a week painting the house by our own hands. Meaning I’ve been busting my ass for a week while I’m on vacation. My mom and I were between two. She really liked a darker color, and so did I, but I ended up recommending a lighter color. We bought two pallets of the lighter color the same day, according to dad’s instructions, and he adamantly wanted to pick them up the same day despite us having so much prep work to do.

While he was out to pick them up i suddenly doubted my choice. I got very anxious that I had chosen the wrong tile after my sisters saw the choices and both liked the darker color; so I ended up being the only person who didn’t prefer that color. I wanted to call him to tell him not to pick up to pallets of the lighter color but it was too late. He arrived and I tried to say maybe it wasn’t too late to change the tile which I understand is frustrating but if we’re spending thousands of dollars to redo the floor and it’s gonna be the floor for 20 years i think it’s ok to pause and make a return if everyone is happier with the other color. He yelled at me and said it’s too late and he wasn’t going to take them back.

After moving half the boxes inside he says “I really liked the other color”

I got upset and told him that we didn’t HAVE to install the lighter color since he and everyone else prefers the darker color. He again blew up saying it’s too late he won’t take it back now (there is a 90 day return policy) and that it is what it is and that it’s fine the color we chose is fine too

So now the house is gonna have the second best color tiles, just okay, instead of the one everyone likes bc of me and I’m upset bc I feel like even though it’s annoying and extra work to exchange the tiles in the end it’s worth it bc they’re gonna be part of the house for decades

So, am I overreacting?

TLDR: I backtracked on my decision for tile at my parents house and my dad refuses to exchange the tiles even though everyone else likes the one I didn’t pick. I’m upset at myself for choosing the wrong one and upset at him for rushing this process and refusing to be flexible and exchange the tiles (short term frustration in exchange for long term satisfaction)

Posted early to vent but now I need advice

Hey guys,

First of all thank you for this community! I learn a lot here and it’s great to know others are in this struggle

So, plain and simple, I have 13 payments left (2 I believe I can buyback) and suddenly unemployed. Zero income.

What is my best option?

When I was unemployed last summer for a few months I applied for deferment and just made no payments.

What is the best option? Defer, recertify my income ($0 now) under the same plan (PAYE) or recertify my income under a different plan?

Got my first pieces of gold 😍

Got them all at spot but like one week ago so right before the price dropped 300/oz lol

Edit: why are the grams a different hue of gold than the 1/10 round?

Edit: how should I store these??

My first gold purchase

Splurged and got two grams. There was a 1 per customer limit on the one at spot.

Thank you to everyone in this subreddit who contributed their wealth of knowledge. I’ve been studying this sub for a while and learning a lot about investing in physical gold. I made a little extra this month selling some collectibles and decided to reinvest some of it.

So, how did I do? Any advice and pro tips for me as a beginner?

Parents said they’ll pay me for labor I’ve been doing around the house with Pokemon.

I don’t live at home but whenever I visit I clean and organize for them and help with their business. They were so grateful they said they wanted to pay me. I joking said “pay me in pokemans” and they said actually tell us what you want we will buy it for you.

Normally I wouldn’t take them up on it because I can pay for my own cards, but tbh I’m on vacation and working my ass off to help them out so I think i may actually ask for something. I don’t want to ask for anything super expensive but for the amount of work i did i honestly think they wouldn’t mind something in the $100-$150 range

So which one should I choose? (I would just find one on eBay and give them to link to buy)

Not my card- but how did this get a 10?

I decided not to grade my poncho eevees due to minor issues but one of my has this exact same line across the front. It’s like a Cut in the card across the holo image. How the hell did this 10? I checked and the cert is legit. I feel like my cards have a way better chance of getting 10s than I thought if they’re this lenient

PSA, CGC, or BGS?

Never graded anything before, in the process of choosing cards to send in, hence the uptick in posts from me, but I’m trying it out on these bc I paid so little for them and the 10s are worth some $$$. I’m an amateur BUT I’m pretty confident these will 10. However, which grading company would be best for Japanese? Or does it even matter?

How badly will the back of this card impact grading?

I don’t expect a 10 because of the centering on the front, but would be happy with a 9. Haven’t submitted yet because the back has so many little dots on it. But would it still have a chance at a 9 or am I being too optimistic?

Also- why would this card develop so much whitening? It’s been stored the same way as my other cards and none of them have this issue

[CA] How to get renter’s insurance if my name isn’t on the lease? (I’m renting a room)

Pretty much title. can I get renters insurance on my own as an individual even if I’m not the main person named on the lease? I signed an agreement with the main renter but I’m basically renting a room from the main renters. Never asked if they already have insurance but if they do, would it cover me too?

Should I take cash tomorrow for these or take chances to grade?

Hi everyone!

I would very much appreciate your help.

I have never graded before and haven’t had much interest and honestly still don’t! But hey trying to make smarter financial choices

My options are: sell this set tomorrow to a buddy for about $4500 cash, or drop off at psa and wait for grades.

A friend told me he thinks the first 5 could 10, and last 3 could get maybe 8 or 9.

Taking a closer look at them now I don’t think any can 10 bc of consistent pattern of wear on the bottom.

Last year psa 9 copies of these cards cost the same as raw which is why I never bothered grading them, and now it seems that psa 9 is now more valuable than raw.

So help me make a decision by tonight. Should I just take the profit (I literally bought these for $40 bucks about 9 years ago) or put in the work/take the risk to get them graded?

Looking to make the smarter financial decision here.

Edit: buyer wants to grade them .

Looking for advice: sell raw or grade?

The other day I posted it’s weird for me to sell cards.

I feel like I need your help making a decision because I’m clearly not thinking straight.

I have some raw promo cards (set of 8) I can sell for $4200-$4500 cash and I’ve had them for like 9-10 years. They’re pretty rare and really freaking cute! But I feel like this is the time to sell. Prices are going so high; financially it makes sense to either sell or grade them.

I have considered grading them but tbh I’m worried my cards will get lost or stolen in the process. I actually think they have solid chances of 8-10, which would make them worth thousands more (like maybe 2-3 times as much). I almost sold them last year and decided not to. I was gonna grade and also decided not to because a 9 was selling for the same as a 10. But I just checked listing and now 9’s actually are selling for double raw. So now it makes sense to actually grade.

I know a guy who will buy them like tomorrow for $4200-4500 cash. I’ve already cancelled on this guy once last year and worried if I do it again he won’t consider meeting me again.

I don’t need the money urgently but tbh the world is crazy and the economy is unstable. Should I wait and grade or just sell?

Musicians and Pokemon lovers, please help me?

This is a gift for my gf and how amazing would it be to also gift her with a special little tune!!!

However I can’t read music and don’t really know how to interpret this!

Can you help me? What are the notes? What would this sound like? Can you go even further to share a video playing the notes on an instrument? 🎻 🎹
