Software Development vs Cybersecurity — Which is the Better Career in India and Abroad?

I’m currently trying to decide between Software Development and Cybersecurity as a long-term career path, and I’d like opinions from people actually working in the industry.

I’m from a BCA background and planning to pursue MCA, so I’m trying to make a realistic decision rather than choosing a field just because it is currently hyped.

I’d like to compare both fields on the following points:

- Number of job opportunities, especially for freshers

- Current job market in India

- Job market abroad — US, Canada, Europe, Australia, Middle East, etc.

- Future scope and demand

- Salary/pay progression from fresher → mid-level → senior

- Long-term earning potential

- Job security

- Career growth and promotions

- Remote-work opportunities

- Freelancing/contract opportunities

- Possibility of working for foreign companies from India

- How difficult it is to enter the field as a fresher

- How difficult it is to become genuinely good at it

- Programming/coding requirements

- Networking/Linux/system knowledge requirements

- Certifications — how important they actually are

- Importance of degrees like MCA

- Impact of AI on both careers

- Competition in the job market

- Work-life balance

- On-call/stress levels

- Career flexibility and ability to switch domains later

- Which field is more future-proof

- Which field has better opportunities for someone starting in 2026

I’ve also been thinking about whether it is smarter to start with software engineering and later move into cybersecurity, especially areas like Application Security, Cloud Security or DevSecOps, instead of going directly into pure cybersecurity.

For people already working in these fields:

If you were starting again in 2026 with a BCA/MCA-type background, which path would you choose and why?

I’m not looking for generic answers like “both have good scope.” I’d really appreciate honest, practical opinions based on actual hiring, career progression, salary, skills required and what the market is really like, especially in India.

Also, please mention your country, years of experience and role when giving your perspective, so I can understand the context.

Paid Superfast fare for Train 20676, reached YPR 51 minutes late, train reached Belagavi 1 hour 22 minutes late. Is an RTI appeal or legal action worth it?

I travelled on Train No. 20676 Vishwamanava Superfast Express from Mysuru Junction to Yesvantpur Junction on 5 August 2026.

Journey details:

Reserved class: 2S

Total fare paid: Rs 112.25

Scheduled departure from Mysuru: 7:00 AM

Actual departure: approximately 7:01 AM

Scheduled arrival at Yesvantpur: 10:10 AM

Actual arrival at Yesvantpur: 11:01 AM

Delay at Yesvantpur: 51 minutes

Distance: approximately 144 km

Actual average speed for my journey: approximately 36 kmph

I understand that Superfast classification may technically be based on the train’s scheduled end-to-end average speed, rather than its actual speed on one section. However, passengers are still charged a Superfast surcharge with the expectation of a reasonably faster and punctual service. In my case, the train departed Mysuru almost on time but took around four hours to cover only 144 km.

Because of the delay, I had to cancel my scheduled plans in Bengaluru and reschedule them for another day.

The problem was not limited to Yesvantpur. The train was scheduled to reach its final destination, Belagavi, at 8:35 PM, but on the same day it reached at approximately 9:57 PM, around 1 hour 22 minutes late.

I also checked the running status after my journey and noticed that the train was delayed again on the following day. On 6 August, online running-status information showed it reaching Belagavi around 44 minutes late. This makes me wonder whether this train is frequently unable to maintain its published timetable.

I raised a complaint through RailMadad. I specifically asked them to provide the exact reason, affected section and nature of the technical or safety issue.

However, the complaint was closed with this generic response:

> Dear Sir/Madam, thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. The train was delayed due to unavoidable technical/safety reasons, but it is being dealt with as a top priority and trying to avoid unnecessary detention. We wish you a happy and safe journey. Thank you.

They did not specify:

What technical or safety issue occurred

Where it occurred

How long the train was detained at each section

Why the delay continued until Belagavi

Whether passengers were given any advance advisory

The fare itself is not my main concern. My concern is the lack of accountability. A published timetable influences passengers’ appointments, connecting transport and other plans. Railways cannot simply close every complaint with the phrase “technical/safety reasons” without giving any specific information.

I am considering filing an RTI seeking the train control log, section-wise detention details, exact recorded reason for the delay and the rules regarding Superfast classification and surcharge.

My questions are:

  1. Is filing the RTI worth the time and effort?

  2. If the RTI response is incomplete, should I file a First Appeal?

  3. Has anyone successfully obtained train control records through RTI?

  4. Would approaching CPGRAMS or the Consumer Commission be worthwhile?

  5. Is there any realistic legal remedy for repeated poor punctuality and generic complaint closures?

  6. Has anyone pursued a similar matter against Indian Railways, and what was the outcome?

Looking for practical advice, especially from railway employees, RTI users, lawyers or passengers who have handled similar complaints.

[M21, 5'11", 55kg] Student looking for a budget-friendly home workout and diet plan to gain weight/muscle

Hey everyone,

I am a 21-year-old male student from India looking for some guidance on how to safely build muscle and gain weight. I am currently quite underweight and want to fix my health, but being on a student budget and having a low appetite makes it hard.

My Stats & Current Metrics:

• Age / Sex: 21M

• Height: 180.34 cm (approx. 5'11")

• Weight: 55 kg (121 lbs)

• Calculated BMI: 16.91 (Underweight)

• Estimated TDEE: ~1,900 - 2,100 calories

• Target Calories for Gain: ~2,400 - 2,500 calories (Aiming for a clean surplus)

Background & Constraints:

• Medical: No pre-existing medical conditions or digestive issues.

• Eating Habits: Non-vegetarian. However, I am not a frequent eater and often struggle with a low appetite / small stomach capacity.

• Equipment Available: I prefer exercising at home. I only have access to my own bodyweight and a set of dumbbells.

• Budget: I am a student, so I need cheap, accessible food options. I cannot afford expensive mass gainers or high-end supplements right now.

What I need help with:

  1. Diet / Calorie Density: Since I'm not a frequent eater, what are some high-calorie, high-protein, budget-friendly Indian meals or shakes that won't make me feel overly bloated?

  2. Home Workout Routine: Can anyone recommend a structured progressive overload Calisthenics routine utilizing just dumbbells and bodyweight exercises? (e.g., variations of push-ups, dumbbell squats, rows).

Appreciate any advice or simple meal templates you can share! Thanks in advance.

MCA in PESU rr campus, is it really Worth? because...

Is MCA in PES really worth?

During my research

Few students literally said

Academic is very Hard

majority faculty are very new for mca, like joined in the last 2 or 3 years.

it's headache

To much difficult

Your personal life end

I would say the number of intake of students

For our batch it was around 350, for our Junior batch it was 450+

this says around 20% gets placed, this is true for fulltime roles, excluding internship included it can be around 30%

Even for 2027 batch they say 'I don't think so but maybe around 80, more than 100 is very difficult in this job market'

Along with these replies from students

I saw these 🥲
