What went wrong? Why did handhelds keep getting bigger? The PSP was the perfect size

I miss when you could actually fit your console in your pocket.

Playing Monster Hunter on the PSP is not for the weak

Our carpal tunnels never recovered from playing this

What the PSP does with only 2MB of VRAM is insane

It’s black magic. It’s crazy what good hardware design and smart optimization can achieve. It feels impossible today.

Merci.

Vous avez des jeux à me conseiller ? Je commence à avoir fait le tour

Bonjour,

My PS Vita and my favorite game to play on it : Everybody's Golf !

It's the reason I bought the Vita day one in 2012 and the reason I bought it again a few years ago

I found a Slim in almost perfect condition

It works very well and the Gamepad is almost new (the little dots are still here on both thumbsticks!!).

I'm very happy with this purchase.

I did a custom Xbox Controller for FFXV (bonus: my laptop with the FFXV logo sticker)

I made it with the Xbox design lab last year. I think it fits the game's atmosphere, it's white with pinkish highlights and a nod to Lunafreya. Blue is really important in the game too.

Putting together a complete Grimes MV playlist, I need your input

Hi!

I’m making a playlist with all of Grimes’s music videos, and here’s what I’ve got so far : https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdlog6W9N_K0

I included the videos where she’s the main artist or has a major part (I didn't put Supernova nor Nihilist blues tho, maybe I should). Visuals matter to me, so I didn’t include some lyric videos. The playlist is in release order (which is why So Heavy I Fell Through the Earth is near the end).

I’m wondering if I’m missing anything or if the order should be adjusted for better coherence (because her release order it all over the place).

Thank you for your time.

Oui, mon PC arrive à faire tourner Crysis

I will soon know if my Windows XP machine can run Crysis

I think it will run but in lower settings. CPU is AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2,0GHz and GPU is Geforce GT 9600.

My review of the EXP-R after one and a half years

I’ve had the Evercade EXP-R since its launch in November 2024, the Tomb Raider pack, as you can see.

Overall, it’s a good device, but it has some flaws that can be dealbreakers depending on what you expect.

The good

  • A fun, fully legal retro system
  • Great buttons and D-pad, L2/R2 are useful in some games (they’re clicky, but they work well). I personally really like the D-pad
  • The screen is fine, better than an old PSP or DS. It gets the job done, not too small, not too big. The aspect ratio isn’t ideal for retro gaming though, only a few games use the full screen (mostly native indie titles or ports, not emulated ones)
  • Tate mode is a nice touch, especially with the official accessory
  • Collecting physical cartridges is great, and the overall game quality is solid
  • Battery life is decent, though it could be better

The bad

  • Battery is okay as I said, but the controller is really bad: charging sometimes bugs, and the red/green light + battery indicator are often inaccurate
  • No analog stick, this will be fixed with the Nexus (I’m considering getting one, but not fully convinced at €199.99)
  • No sleep mode. For a handheld in 2026, it really should have one
  • You can’t change brightness while playing, the setting is only accessible from the launcher. Weird choice, since all the other settings are available in-game
  • Cartridges feel cheap and not built to last. I quicksaved a lot in TR Collection 1, and the cartridge now struggles sometimes. With some other carts, I have to clean the contacts to get them recognized. Not sure if it’s the cartridges or the EXP-R’s port
  • Coil whine on the audio jack when Wi-Fi is enabled

I’m happy with it overall, but it has issues that can be hard to overlook. I used it a lot when I first got itn I finished many games on it (and at least tried every game I own once). I don’t use it as much now.

I’m thinking about getting the Nexus, but I’m not as hyped as I was in 2024 when I preordered the EXP-R. I’ll probably wait for reviews to see if some issues are fixed (sleep mode, battery controller, analog sticks will be great I hope). I haven’t bought any 2026 cartridges yet, and I wanted the SNK ones from last year but couldn’t get them at the time.

Maybe I’ll pick up some cartridges this summer. I’m still on the Evercade journey.
