Opinions on my bathroom so far?

Opinions on our bathroom so far?

I’d love some honest opinions on how this bathroom is coming together so far!

We’ve gone with Blue Note tiles by Carmen on the main walls. They’re handmade/hand-finished, so there’s quite a bit of variation in the colour and texture, which I really like in person.

The grouting isn’t finished yet in these photos. I’m planning to use a navy grout with the dark blue tiles rather than a contrasting grout, so it should hopefully look more cohesive once finished and a lighter grout for the floor tiles.

The floor is a plain warm cream tile.

For the two remaining non-tiled walls, I’m planning to do half-height tongue-and-groove panelling with wallpaper above. I’m hoping this will make it feel a bit warmer and more characterful rather than like a very modern/clinical bathroom.

What do you think of it so far? Does the Blue Note work with the cream floor? And do you think the navy grout is the right choice?

It’s obviously still unfinished, so ignore the mess and unfinished bits! 😂 Honest opinions very welcome!

I’m really unsure about these bathroom tiles

I’m really unsure about these bathroom tiles.

I’m in the middle of renovating our bathroom, and I’m starting to have doubts about the tiles 😬

They’re a floral/hand-painted-style tile in a very soft cream with blue, yellow, and muted pink/purple flowers. I originally loved them, but now that they’re going up across the room on 2 adjacent walls I’m not sure if I’ve made the right choice.

Obviously, the bathroom is still very unfinished (the lower half is going to be tiled the same tile, fixtures still need to go in, etc.), so I’m struggling to picture the finished result.

Do you think they’ll look good once everything is finished, or have I made a mistake? 😂 I’d genuinely appreciate honest opinions!

Bathroom Tile Progress 🩷

Finally, I'm getting somewhere with the bathrooms! The pink tiles are starting to go in, and I’m really happy with how they’re looking so far.

The herringbone photo was taken at a different time of day, so it looks quite a bit warmer/darker in the photo than it actually is. They’re all from the same tile collection.

There is still lots to finish, obviously, but I’m loving seeing it all come together!

Let me know what ya'll think 😊

Anyone installed Equipe Marmoris 7.5x60? Excessive bowing and length variation?

Hi all,

We're in the middle of a new build and have bought **Equipe Marmoris 7.5 × 60 cm porcelain tiles** (White and Anthracite) for our bathrooms.

Our tiler has unpacked them before starting and noticed that many of the tiles appear to be slightly bowed and that there seems to be length variation between tiles. He's not refusing to fit them, but has left the decision to us as he's concerned they may not be to the standard you'd expect from a premium Spanish porcelain tile.

I've attached photos showing:

* The ends of the tiles not lining up.

* The tiles held edge-to-edge showing the bowing.

* The variation across several tiles.

Has anyone here installed this range or come across this with Equipe tiles?

* Is this considered normal for long-format porcelain?

* Does this look within normal manufacturing tolerances?

* Would you continue with installation, or ask the supplier to inspect/replace them before they're laid?

Any advice from professional tilers would be greatly appreciated.

Polished concrete couldn't be finished against floor-to-ceiling glazing due to insufficient slab depth. Looking for repair ideas.

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice from people who work with polished concrete or architectural concrete finishes.

We had a polished concrete floor installed in our new build. Before starting, the contractor explained that there wasn't enough slab depth around the perimeter of the floor-to-ceiling glazing to polish the concrete all the way to the windows. We accepted this at the time because there wasn't really another option.

The problem is that it has left an unpolished perimeter band around the glazing (see photos). The width isn't consistent—it varies along the glazing, in places it's around 6 inches wide and in others it's narrower.

I'm not looking to pursue the original contractor. They were upfront about the issue before they started, so this isn't about blame.

Instead, I'm wondering if there's a way to improve the appearance now.

I'm hoping to find a solution that:

* blends in as discreetly as possible,

* works with an existing polished concrete floor,

* doesn't require replacing the whole floor.

I've already ruled out adding a decorative metal strip or inlay because the unfinished area varies in width, so it wouldn't look intentional.

Has anyone repaired or built up an area like this after the fact? Are there specialist repair mortars, colour-matched resins, or other techniques that could make it look more integrated with the existing polished concrete?

I'd really appreciate any ideas or examples of similar repairs.

Thanks!

Could this be melasma? Only appeared in the last 3 months

Hi everyone,

I've recently noticed some pigmentation developing on the upper part of my cheeks, just under my eyes. It's present on both sides of my face and seems fairly symmetrical.

The thing that's confusing me is that I've only really noticed it over the last 3 months. Before that, I don't remember having these patches at all.

I'm fair-skinned and naturally freckle, so I'm not sure if this is melasma, sun damage, new freckles, or something else. I haven't had any significant acne in the area.

Has anyone had melasma start this suddenly? Does this look consistent with early/mild melasma, or more like sun pigmentation?

Any thoughts or similar experiences would be appreciated.

What fragrance are Italian men wearing? I've smelled it all over Naples and the Amalfi Coast

I've just spent time in Napoli, Sorrento, Amalfi, Positano, and Paestum, and I've noticed a particular fragrance on men everywhere I've been. I've smelled it repeatedly on different people in every location, so I'm wondering if it's a very popular fragrance in Italy right now.

I'm not very good at describing fragrances, but to me, it smells:

• Warm and rich

• Spicy

• Smoky

• Maybe incense-like

• Slightly feminine/unisex

• Very strong with huge projection, definitely beast mode

It's definitely not a fresh, citrusy, aquatic, or shower-gel type scent. It feels darker, warmer, and more luxurious.

I'm a 33-year-old woman, and I absolutely love it, but I can't figure out what it is.

Does this description ring any bells? Is there a fragrance (or a few fragrances) that are especially popular among men in southern Italy that fit this profile?

Thanks!

33F Irish tourist looking to meet people for drinks tonight (English speaker)

Hi all,

I'm a 33-year-old Irish woman spending my last night in Napoli, and I'm looking to head out for a few drinks tonight and hopefully meet some new people.

I'm interested in travel, food, local culture and good conversation. Unfortunately, I only speak English, so I'd be looking to meet people who are comfortable chatting in English.

I'll probably be heading out around 7pm. If anyone is going for drinks around Piazza Bellini, the Spanish Quarter, or elsewhere in the city and wouldn't mind some company, feel free to send me a message.

Thanks! I've been loving Naples so far. 🍻🇮🇹
