The barrel bushing on my SR1911 was VERY sloppy when I bought it. Ruger said it was normal. Personally I think that’s BS. See the video I took of it here:

I could also move the bushing around a fair amount within the slide opening with the old bushing too.

I found that EGW makes custom sized bushings and even monogrammed spring plugs to match because why not, and they fit together. I just received mine and installed it and WOW. It is literally perfect. No slop on the barrel or in the slide anymore. Some people said I’d need to sand it to fit but it was basically perfect right of the box. Plus it looks sick! I had some shots of questionable accuracy on my first range day with this gun, and I truly believe the stock bushing was a factor in that, so I’m curious to see how much it improved with this EGW bushing. Will report back when I get time for another range day 😎

First 90 rounds through the SR today, ran great minus one hiccup with an FTF, but it only happened once towards the end - I’m not sure why. It was pretty dirty at that point, to be fair.

Running two 8rd CobraMags, two Ruger 7rd mags and Federal Red box ammo - honestly surprised at how dirty they are

The recoil was a lot less than I expected for a commander in .45, genuinely. I have a 9mm Canik MC9L that I’ve been carrying for awhile now, and I honestly think the heavier 1911 is much more enjoyable to shoot - plus the trigger is unbelievable compared to the striker fired Canik. I shot a couple rounds out of my wife’s Canik at the end of the session, and was so used to the 1911 trigger that I thought something was wrong with her gun for a second 😂

My Ed Brown Maxi-Well did loosen up significantly, I figured it would last longer than that lol so I’ve got blue loctite on it now - hoping it stays put.

I did notice the barrel bushing was relatively loose upon my first cleaning of the gun right after buying it, and I do think it’s affecting the accuracy a bit (I’m the other factor here lmao) so I’ve got an EGW bushing on order for it - I’m curious to see how much it helps

Overall, I absolutely love this thing and can’t wait to go again

Been debating for WEEKS on which commander to get. Settled on the Ruger and I couldn’t be happier. Haven’t shot it yet as I just picked it up.

I disassembled it to clean it and oiled it with some Lucas extreme gun oil. Had some white grease in it from the factory.

Even managed to get it back together with no idiot scratch 😂

The finish is really nice on the stainless!

I have big plans for it, but excited to shoot it for the first time here soon.

In all reality I want a stainless TRP in 4.25" but SA doesn't make one. So I want to basically do a budget build of one.

Tisas Carry SS45 vs the Garrison Stainless

In my opinion the finish on the Tisas looks better - I like the bead blast look over the shiny flats on the Garrison.

I prefer the spaced/squared slide serrations on the Tisas vs the old school serrations on the Garrison. The Tisas has front slide serrations as well which I do like because thats how I like to do press checks and rack the slide.

However, looks like all of the moveable parts on the Tisas are cerakoted black which is... ugly. I would definitely want to swap those out/upgrade them. Tisas has Ambi safety which I don't really see as a positive or a negative, especially if I'm going to swap it out anyway.

I would put a stainless magwell/MSH on either one and I want to add front strap checkering on either one as well.

Both have forged frames, barrels, etc.

Tisas does not have MIM parts - Garrison does.

Tisas is $525 if you actually put it in the cart on that linked site

$712 is the cheapest I've found the Garrison

Which would you rather use as a base for a build?

I've been eyeing up the Kimber Stainless Pro Carry II for a minute now because it checks all the boxes for me (aka stainless 4" or 4.25" barrel for less than $1500) at $800.

If I was going to get a full size 1911 I would absolutely go with a Stainless TRP from Springfield....but I just don't want to carry a 5" barrel. They seem to be around $1200 new online.

So, I had the idea tonight to possibly get a TRP Classic 4.25" - but they only come in black Cerakote from Springfield. They are $1450 or $1499 depending on the retailer.

Is it silly to get a TRP Classic 4.25" in black just to spend the money and effort to disassemble it and redo it in Titanium Cerakote? Saw a few 1911s in that color on Cerakote’s site and man do they look good.

Or am I looking at far too much cost/effort for the result?

Been seeing everyone and their mother say that Wilson mags are the way to go especially in Kimbers due to their garbage stock mags...

Wanting the most reliable 8rd mag with a nylon follower...

But Wilson has a lot of magazine models lol
