Good diet/food right before surgery/after recommendations. Thank you

Hi, so I’m having LIS and tag removal Monday. Just wondered from some that have already done it, what ur food intake was like to help recovery or just get through the initial healing phase. My diet is pretty good already, MiraLAX daily. good mix of soluble and insoluble fiber currently. Lots of water. I mean we kind of have to be with these stupid fissures. lol.

Anyway if you have any info I appreciate it.

Flight of the Navigator (1986) is a Disney sci-fi adventure film about 12-year-old David Freeman, who is abducted by an alien spaceship in 1978 and returns eight years later, having not aged at all, to find his family and the world have moved on. The film, directed by Randal kleiser.

One of my favs as a kid! And I kinda had a crush on Sarah Jessica Parker!

Also a somewhat famous person with an iconic laugh played the alien!

Finally scheduled for Surgery soon. Completely ready.

So I’m finally scheduled for surgery, either LIS and tag removal, or Botox and tag removal depending on the health of the tissue. I really hope I just get the LIS. I want to be on the road to recovery, and not just have a crutch/ lower success rate treatment.

I know there’s alot of mixed feelings about surgery in general. But I feel like with the amount of trauma, and issues we deal with for way too long, not getting surgery is just as bad. I’m happy to hear when people say they have healed themselves naturally and whatnot, but I feel I’ve exhausted all my efforts, and am completely prepared, and ready to do this surgery. Pain with a recovery/end in sight is better than pain and disruption of life without. Which is where I am currently, and have been on, and off for years.

I guess I just wanted to share with the only community that can really understand this terrible thing we deal with. And I hope you can send positive vibes my way for a successful treatment.
I will be sending them ur way as well!

I know that the majority of successful LIS folks are probably not on here anymore, and hopefully finally enjoying their life’s, but if you have any info/words of encouragement, or even just some positive stuff thanks to ur successful surgery. Feel free to send em over. Appreciate it!

What’s ur favorite Van Damme film?

I’ll start: Kickboxer

Others Thoughts on CRS approach to my situation.

CRS seems genuine, and highly capable. after a long road, home care, clean diet, and almost a full run of nifidepine, he thinks it not gonna heal, and said he wants to do a evaluation under anesthesia, remove anterior tag, and then if chrohns isn’t there, do LIS tailored. If it is chrohns, Botox injections with tag removal only. He def seems like he wants to be safe about it.

Just wanted to see what others thought of this approach.

directed by Gareth Edwards, starring Scoot McNairy and Whitney Able, about a journalist escorting a tourist through an "infected zone" in Mexico where giant alien creatures have appeared after a NASA probe crashed.

Best monster movie of the millennium might be a bit of a stretch, but a solid flick nonetheless.

“FINALLY” got a referral to an actual colorectal surgeon.

Been through 2 PC’s, GI, General surgeon, now finally the General surgeon referred me to an actual colorectal surgeon. The medical shuffling I’ve been dealing with has been a really big disappointment/let down overall. Been two years with issues, but the last 7 months have been really rough. I’ve lost 20 pounds, and probably a few years off my life with this debilitating issue.

Anyway just wanted to vent, and also just get some good vibes from others that are out there, whether still struggling, or recovered, wish me luck with this next doctor, and know that I’m thinking of you as well.

: only treatment so far is nifidepine .3% with 1.5% lidocaine (on day 5 currently) no change. Other than that, just diet, MiraLAX, usual home remedies, more protein, vitamin c, sitz bath. All good things to try obviously, but more of a crutch once the fissure is chronic.

Current fissure status: chronic anterior (front), scar tissue, and swollen sentinel tag at opening. Inflammatory fluid leakage.

All ct scans, colonoscopy, mri’s have ruled out everything including infection. Only finding was rectum narrowing, pretty obvious since I’m in lockdown with sphincter spasms almost all day.

🤞🙏 🍑

First consult with surgeon finally.. two years of waiting and issues.

What should I expect on Tuesday next week for my first consult with general surgeon who specializes in rectal. we don’t have specific colorectal surgeon in my area so this one is supposed to be the closest thing.

Two years on and off fissures. Last 3-4 months have been pretty non stop. Anterior fissure with sentinel tag, not much pooping pain, but almost all day spasms as of the last 3-4 weeks. Tag swells up after BM from sphincter spasms. I’m getting nifidepine today or tomorrow, so I’ll have a couple days of that right before I see the surgeon, so not sure how that will change my initial treatment with them. Just curious what to expect going into this appointment.

Thank you 🙏

Do ct scans with balloon not see an abscess, or anything for that matter? Yesterdays ER visit. before pelvic mri Monday.

Been throbbing for the last two weeks, and yesterday after bowel movement it was just to much, plus it felt swollen on the front outer side, not painful there but swollen. Worried about infection So I went to the ER.

Well nothing was found. CT scan with dye and balloon dilation. (Almost fainted from the pain of them trying to insert it like 4 times)

So my question. Can a CT scan not see an abcess or fistula or any kind of infection?

If I can manage to hold out till Monday the mri will hopefully paint a better picture. Fingers crossed.

6 week follow up with GI tomorrow, after a month of steroid suppositories… in worse shape now for sure. About two years of issues so far total.

So I’ve got my follow up tomorrow. Been using steroid suppositories for 6 weeks. Which I didn’t want to do, but following orders. Strict diet, and daily MiraLAX makes BM’s manageable, but the tight sphincter spasms kind of still restrict the poop from just flowing easily. I’m getting all day spasms after BM now. Hurts to sit, drive, literally do anything but I’m trying to suck it up, and keep going.

It does feel like there’s a small hard spot at the top edge of my anterior fissure. Maybe scar tissue? Hopefully not an abscess, or fistula.

I guess I’m just wondering what I should say to the GI doc tomorrow, and if I should force her to send me to a colorectal surgeon, which I asked for in the first place with My PC, but he just said the GI doc was good enough.

Im sure she’s gonna go the calming cream route next, nitro, dialtazem. Etc. didn’t even have a physical exam at my first appt with her.

I dunno, just looking for some words of encouragement I guess. What a terrible ailment we all are suffering with. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.
