42 year-old mom of four trying to get jacked!

At 42 I feel like I am more fit and jacked than I have ever been in my life. It is amazing what weight training has done for me. Currently on a program that I really enjoy and feeling great.😊

Pink Lululemon top + black 6” Align shorts 💕🖤

Top
Pink Pearl
Align™ light-support bra/cropped bra size 4

Shorts
Black
Align™ High-Rise Short 6” size 5

I’m seriously loving this combination. The light pink top with the black shorts is such a simple look, but together I think it looks amazing. It’s comfortable enough to train in while still feeling really flattering and put together.
I really like the shorter length for workouts because they give me plenty of freedom to move without feeling too long or bulky. The fit is snug without being uncomfortable, and the high waist is perfect.
Definitely one of those outfits that makes me feel good the second I put it on. I’ll probably be reaching for this combination a lot! 💪💕

A strong back isn’t just about aesthetics. Training your back helps improve posture, build overall strength, support your shoulders, and create a strong foundation for so many other exercises. Plus, there’s nothing quite like seeing those back muscles start to develop after years of consistency.
I’ve been working out for years now, and my journey has definitely been a process. I’ve gone through different workout programs, changed up my training, learned what works for my body, and had plenty of periods where progress felt slower than I wanted. Looking back, though, I think all of those different phases have played a part in getting me to where I am today.
One thing I’ve learned is that you really can’t rush the process. The changes you want to see come from showing up over and over again, even on the days when you don’t feel particularly motivated. Years of lifting have taught me that consistency is so much more important than having the “perfect” workout or program.
I’m still working toward new goals and trying to improve, but I’m also learning to appreciate how far I’ve come. Every workout is another opportunity to get a little stronger, and back day is definitely one of my favorites. Keep showing up, keep putting in the work, and trust the process. 💪🔥

Finally feeling good with my pull-ups.

I still remember when I first started going to the gym—I couldn’t do a single pull-up. Now, after years of consistent training, I’m finally able to do multiple reps with relative ease.
It has been a long journey, and every pull-up is a reminder of how far I’ve come. There’s something incredibly satisfying about being able to lift your own body weight after working toward it for so long.
The journey definitely hasn’t been linear. There have been times when I felt stronger than ever and made great progress, and other times when I gained a little weight and pull-ups became much more challenging. But that’s just part of the process.
Right now, I’m incredibly happy with where I am—both with my strength and with how I feel. Looking back at where I started makes me appreciate the years of consistency that got me here.

Friday workouts always hit different.

There is always something special about working out on a Friday. Something nice about filling that burn and knowing that the weekend is almost here.

Strength training completely changed my life for the better

I’m a 42-year-old mom, and after having my youngest eight years ago, I decided to start strength training consistently. Looking back, it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
Now that I’m in my 40s and starting to experience the early stages of perimenopause, I honestly feel stronger and have more energy than I can remember having in a long time. Not every day is perfect, of course, but overall I feel healthier, more capable, and more confident than I did in my 30s.
I’ve also been in a bit of a calorie deficit recently and have lost almost 25 pounds. I’m really happy with where I’m at and excited to keep making progress.
One thing that has made a huge difference for me over the years is following a structured training program instead of trying to piece workouts together myself. I started with programs from Jeff Nippard, later followed Booty by Bret, and more recently I’ve been doing Moves by Madeline.
For me, having a plan to follow has been one of the biggest reasons I’ve stayed consistent. I never have to wonder what I’m doing when I walk into the gym, and it keeps me motivated and accountable. Instead of skipping workouts because I don’t know what to do, I just show up and follow the program.
I just wanted to share this in case anyone else is on the fence about starting strength training, especially other women in their 40s. Getting older doesn’t mean you have to accept feeling weak or losing muscle. It’s never too late to get stronger, and the benefits go far beyond how you look.
I’d love to hear from others—what’s been the biggest thing that’s helped you stay consistent over the years?
