Slow Ethernet speeds despite paying for 1000 mbps — need advice

Hey guys, hope everyone’s doing well. This is my first time posting in here, but I was scrolling and everyone seems pretty chill and people have gotten their issues resolved, so hopefully I can have the same outcome.

So basically, we have AT&T Wi-Fi at home — I believe it’s fiber since download and upload speeds match. We’re on the 1000/1000 plan. I have my own PC work/gaming setup (one PC, two monitors), and since my room is pretty far from the router, I had someone come install an Ethernet run from the router that goes outside the house, along the outer line under the roof (so it stays dry), secured with zip ties, then comes into my room and connects to a small box with Ethernet plugins that I connect my devices to.

When everything first got set up, I was getting around 940-950 down/up on Ethernet in my room, and everything was running smooth. Yesterday my internet felt off — I was downloading a game on Steam and it was going way slower than usual. I ran a speed test and got around 80 upload, 90 download.

I’m not totally sure how long this has been happening, since I only ran the speed test yesterday. I’ve been busy and hadn’t played any games in a while, so I was just doing normal tasks and never noticed. The only reason I caught it was because the game download was taking way longer than usual.

Since we’re still paying for the 1000 plan, I checked my mom’s phone and it still tested at 1000. I checked my Ethernet cable and everything looked fine — even the adapter settings on my computer showed the link speed as 1000/1000 receive/transmit. So the connection itself seems fine, I’m just not getting the speeds I’m paying for.

I contacted AT&T and they said we have too many devices on the Wi-Fi. I get that, but we’ve had roughly the same number of devices (around 40) since I first got the plan — and it’s not all computers, mostly phones, a few TVs, iPads, and laptops that get used here and there, not constantly streaming or downloading. I’m the one who uses the internet the most, which is why I had the Ethernet setup done in the first place since I work from home.

Shouldn’t being on Ethernet bypass the device cap and still give me close to my 900s, even if the 1000 plan is designed for around 20 devices max? For reference, my mom’s phone gets around 900 on a speed test, but my phone gets the same low 80-90 as my computer.

Is there anything I can do to prioritize my computer, or figure out what’s actually causing this?

Thank you

Idaho Murders: Some things I still can’t wrap my head around

Such a heartbreaking case. My heart genuinely goes out to the families. A few things I keep coming back to:

What was the motive? Was BK just obsessed with killers and criminology? He had to have been — he took notes and asked a ton of questions in that one class, from what I’ve seen. Most people seem to think he didn’t have a “true” motive in the traditional sense — he was just infatuated with the idea of committing a murder and the thrill of not getting caught.

Why that house? Was he plotting on it months prior and actually stalking it? Is there real proof of that? Did he see videos of the inside via social media and learn the layout that way — is that what gave him the “green light” to go with that house specifically? And is it true he may have entered the house beforehand to get a feel for the layout/direction before the attack?

Why did he leave the knife sheath behind? He seems so meticulous otherwise — that feels like such a rookie mistake for someone this obsessed with criminology to make.

Was he only there for the one girl? Do you think he went in only targeting the first victim (sorry, I’m blanking on her name) and got caught off guard when others were there, killing them too since it wasn’t part of the plan? But if that’s true, wouldn’t he have gone after the person who saw him too?

Why didn’t they call 911 until later? This is the part I understand the least. I get that it’s late and you don’t want to overreact, but if you heard almost everything happening, what’s the reasoning for not calling right away? Even if you’re wrong and it turns out to be nothing, you explain what you thought was happening when they arrive and move on. Out of everything about this case, that’s the part that makes the least sense to me.

If he’d taken the sheath with him — do you think he ever gets caught?

Do you think there’s more to this story? Whether it’s info the surviving roommates haven’t shared, or something from BK himself — do you think there’s a lot we’re still missing? And do you think we’ll ever actually get it?

25yo, need advice

I'm 25 and my credit score is sitting at 742 right now. I'm making this post because my score barely moves — it'll go up one point, then drop three, up one point, drop two, up one point, drop three. It just never really climbs, and I pay all my cards in full every time.

I have three credit cards: a TD Bank cash card, a Capital One Venture One, and a Chase Freedom Unlimited. I use all three pretty much interchangeably — I don't split purchases by category (like one card for food, one for gas, etc.), I just use whatever for whatever. Not sure if that matters.

I always pay in full on the due date. Like tomorrow, the 17th, my TD card is due — so today once it hits the 17th, I'll go into the app and pay it off completely. I do this for all my cards, just on different days depending on when each is due.

I also know people say to keep your utilization low, like under a certain percentage of your limit. I haven't been doing that. For example, if my limit on a card is $7,000, some months I might use $1,000, other months $2,000 — it just depends on what I need. I know that's probably not helping.

If anyone can explain why my score isn't moving, or give me advice on what I should actually be doing differently, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Advice for permit test

Hey yall… any advice for the “written” permit test ?

I’m 25 in a wheelchair and I’m currently in the process of converting my car to hand controls so I can drive but need my permit first to learn in a dummy car

I’ve been using the dmv test app and YouTube videos to study… also the 84 questions from the book

Never really been a good test taker honestly so don’t know what to expect and feel like I’m not studying enough since I do not know what questions are on the actual test but yeah

Any advice or suggestions would be cool

Thanks

Can somebody with SMA Type 2 skydive ?

I have SMA Type 2 and really want to go skydiving… im completely wheelchair bound and can’t stand at all but if im strapped with somebody I assume its possible ?

My only concern would be landing, cause from the videos I’ve seen.. you kind of land and run a little bit but since im very weak/wheelchair bound, im scared my legs might break on landing unless I can somehow tie my legs in front of the instructors legs so when he walks.. i kind of walk with him? Idk if that makes sense

should I wait for canine companions ?

Hey everybody, I just got back from an event called Cure SMA for people with spinal muscular atrophy. It was hosted in Orlando with a whole bunch of workshops, one of those workshops being about service dogs.

I never knew how useful and life-changing a service dog can be for people with SMA. I have SMA Type 2, and the person leading this workshop also had SMA Type 2 — and wow, when she showed the videos, it was amazing how much independence she gained with the dog.

She talked about information on where to apply for one, when you should apply versus not, and all the do's and don'ts.

I talked to someone there afterward, and they said to go through Canine Companions, as all four of the dogs they've had were through Canine Companions.

I submitted my application but received an email back basically saying they're backed up and my application won't be seen or processed until at least November, and to try again then.

So my question is: should I wait until November, or should I look into other options? I live in FL as well, so Canine Companions works out since the facility is in Orlando, but any advice or recommendations would be appreciated.

Thank you

Is there any other options or is it just buy a new battery ?

Also… is it for sure the battery ? How can I check or know

Lastly, do I have to send the board back to meepo or is the battery change pretty easy to do at home ?

anyone with a max 5 esc on their xmaxx, what’s the power/speed difference compared to stock ?

Is the upgrade actually worth it ?

how much faster were you going stock compared to with the max 5

and if you are not using stock gearing and pinion.. what are you using

my esc went bad and was looking into the max 5… I also saw two versions, one being the normal max 5 and the plus version

it’s only a $50 difference so is the plus better ? is there a significant difference compared to the original max 5

thanks
