Gas can help
Can anyone help me figure out this gas can contraption? My father was brilliant beyond (my) comprehension, since his passing my family has been left with some interesting souvenirs that we can't fully understand how they work.

Hi, I am trying to get set up to start doing tattoos on myself. I live in a remote area and my schedule has made it impossoble to arrange anything with tattoo artists. So I am resorting to tattooing myself. Based on my research I want to get experience with a coil machine. After practicing on fake skin I plan to just do linework for a while before I start doing color and shading.
What I really need help with is this market space is so cluttered, I have no idea what I am looking at and read so much contrary dialogue. I have read that a cheaper machine is ok but high quality ink and needles are important, which seems to make sense to me. Which machine would this community recommend for doing linework, which black ink, and which needles that are compatible with recommended machine? Also a printer. What else will I need? I am a mechanic, so I have things like gloves, alcohol, and tools for machine maintenance. Thanks in advance!
Getting an extra piece of hardware just seems silly when I am already carrying my phone that is going to be doing all of the heavy lifting anyway. It would be particularly nice if it automatically logged appointments discussed over phone calls or make to dos for things like parts orders.
Open to any and all feedback, composition, styling, etc. its the first tattoo I have designed, not sure if I did anything silly. Does it look balanced? I trimmed the outline of the island back from compass rose too keep it from looking crowded, was that a mistake or does it work? Should I rotate the lettering -45 to match the rotation of the compass rose? Does the inverted coloring on the white orca fit?
The background is the island I grew up on. Orca are kind of big deal around here and I have had a number of profound experiences with them. I am in the PNW so I tilted the compass rose to point PNW instead of north and put our area code on the other points. The I Ching and yin yang just resonate with me and my own philosophies so I thought to incorporate them, especially fitting I thought with orca being black and white also.
I cannot for the life of me get the fid to run along the core inside the jacket. I am splicing 5/16. I made it about one inch. I even tried running the 1/4 fid and could hardly get it any further. It is tight tight around the core and fid. I can hardly run the push stick in. I have tried scrunching the jacket maximally as well as just a little bit and everything in between. I must be doing something wrong, any tips?
Lately my store has been bringing in prime ribeye from our local grass fed industry instead of the choice they used to bring in. It just doesn't cook the same, doesn't get the same mouthfeel. It seems to cook faster and even when I shorten the time or try the thicker cuts it still feels tougher, it doesn't seem to have a sweet spot. I have been searing and finishing in the oven, the same as ever. What am I doing wrong? The choice cuts from the other farm are all too thin, so for a properly thick cut I have been buying the prime but they haven't been measuring up to the choice steaks I used to get.
I am doing an nSuns 531 and have found an accessory workout that I am incorporating. Is there a way to edit the original workout to include the accessories? It would be nice to include the auto progression that the nSuns program does. Is there a tutorial or manual for creating workouts in excel or the markup for adding auto progression?
I genuinely hope they got impounded
Hey, rafter going to the dark side. I have a few seasons experience as a raft guide on the Wenatchee and a lifetime of experience kayaking on the ocean around the San Juan Islands. I want to get a hardboat but don't know anything about whats available, sizing, etc. I will probably only ever buy one boat as getting to the river is a trek and I have kids now, so I will probably only make it 4-6 weekends per summer. So I want a boat that I won't get bored with quickly as I don't really plan on upgrading. I am 6'2" 210#. Most of my boating will be escorting raft floats when I am not in guide rotation. I would like to leap from the float, charge ahead, hit some holes and surf a little, let them pass and repeat. Any tips and suggestions you all have I appreciate

Its a lead abatement mask, it has a wide flange on the inside that does seal his face. I used some aluminum channel to make a holder for the blade that lets him keep his hands away from the belt and indexes the blade to the fence so the bevel angle can be adjusted reliably.
