Found a pristine 2015 Skoda Superb 1.8 TSI Manual on CARS24 for 5.2L. Am I walking into a trap or buying a dream?
Hey guys,
Looking for some realism from the VAG owners here.
I’m currently looking at a 2015 Skoda Superb Elegance 1.8 TSI with the 6-speed Manual Transmission. It’s CARS24-owned stock, verified, and looks to be in absolutely pristine condition cosmetically and mechanically on paper. Price is locked at 5.2 Lakhs.
The fact that it’s a manual gives me a huge sigh of relief because I don't have to stay awake at night worrying about a DQ200 DSG failure. 178 BHP and 320 Nm of torque at this price point feels like an insane bargain.
I haven't seen the car live yet, But I wanted to ask the community:
- Apart from the manual gearbox being reliable, what else fails on the 2015 1.8 TSI Gen 3 engines? I've heard the water pump/thermostat housing and timing chain can still be problematic.
- What should I realistically set aside as an annual maintenance/buffer fund for a Superb of this vintage?
- For those who bought through CARS24 stock—how reliable is their multi-point inspection when it comes to complex Germans? Should I trust it or treat it with a heavy pinch of salt?
- If there is room for negotiation for how much should I actually get it?
Would love to hear from anyone who has owned or still owns a manual 2015 1.8 TSI Superb?
