I had a dream of getting a paystub making $24/hour

That's a fantasy, ngl. I wept at the thought. Never made more than $20/hour after college. And $24 still isn't shit in this economy but certainly would've been better than ruining my health for ass wages.

Most people I know aren't really doing much better either. One's at a call center making 42k/year, another's at a grocery store making $19/hour, etc. And we're all in hcol areas. Feels bad. One of em has been considering a life of crime. I might follow suit. At least that way we can afford shelter, right? And we'll be getting tax refunds.

Gen Z as a whole is unemployable tbh.

I've been seeing more "unemployable gen z" videos recently

First it was from BusinessCringe, then Damon Cassidy, now Casey Simpson.

Any of y'all feel like you're unemployable? I do lol. I was stuck in fucking retail after finishing my computer science degree. Useless ass degree now and the skillset is obsolete with AI. What did I even take out student loans for?

I thought the point of entry level jobs was to build fucking skills. To be open minded, to be able to be criticized and improve, to be able to build work experience. But what do you do when you can't get an entry level job?

Why are we bothering to try to get jobs at this point? It's pretty clear that society will hum along with or without us. We might as well just hole up in our parents' basements and do some hobbies like painting or drawing instead. It's not like we'll be able to support ourselves.

Have y'all ever ruined your health for a job?

I was working overnight retail to pay off my student loans after college. Didn't have any other job, didn't have any other interviews. $20~/hour.

My eyes were constantly red, my heart was not doing well, I had constant high blood pressure, I was getting back pain, my feet were always sore, I got a lot of health issues from working there. I quit the day I paid off my loans. I've been unemployed ever since. Haven't bothered making any applications. No point. Body feels a lot better nowadays. I don't feel like it was worth working there. Wasn't big boy money or anything

Anyone else have a similar story?

I'm TERRIFIED of bringing a child into this

There are no job opportunities now. There will be negative job opportunities for them should they be born. They'll be paying the overlords to give them the opportunity to be employed. We must stand up as a generation and force society to go extinct.

I have nightmares from being doomed to forever making minimum wage

I'm horrified at the thought tbh. Nothing I can do to escape that so I just dropped out of the workforce entirely. Haven't made any applications in a long, long, long time... I never got interviews so it doesn't matter one way or another

I regret investing in education tbh.

Here I thought having a resume with internships and decent programming projects would be some leverage to make at least 50k out of college. Can't even get a job that pays above 40, though. Wasted money and time on college. Should've just dropped out of high school

I wish I could make 25-30/hour I'd be set ngl

I would be able to afford to move out. Instead I can't make over $20/hour after college (CS degree unfortunately), which doesn't even afford a shitbox in most parts of the country. Let alone where I am, a hcol area.

Don't see how I will ever be able to even make 50k tbh. I'm losing the want to shower and eat entirely. Not like I have anything to go outside for

Simply existing is living beyond my financial means

It's a poor financial decision to be alive. I can't support myself, I can't move out. I can't even get a job that pays above $20/hour and I'm a year or two out of college. Tired.

Wish I could leave the world.

Don't really feel in control of my finances

Shit, I've never made much more than 2k a month after taxes. And that's from working full time. Rents exceed that.

It'd be financially irresponsible for me to move out. Going by that reasoning, it'd be financially irresponsible if I was kicked out now, let alone at 18. I'm a few years past that. Got a useless degree and useless internship experiences

Can't get a better job and can't do much with my life. Regret being born

Feels like it'd be a fool's errand to for another degree tnh

Have a bachelor's in cs, I've been working an overnight retail job ever since I graduated. Had two internships/projects, 3.6-3.8 gpa. Depends.

Not at all interested in the shit show that tech is anymore tbh. I quite literally can't meaningfully improve my resume without another job, and I can't pivot. I have tried emphasizing transferable skills and experience, no phone screenings.

I'm tired. I quit the retail job, I'm a gooner NEET now. It wasn't gonna help. $21/hour in 2026 is nothing lol.

Not sure where I can go from here. I don't have the patience for another degree, I don't have faith in that gamble a second time. Trade school is becoming the new learn to code, I'm not falling for that twice. So idk.

Doesn't feel like I have any options, really. Looking for advice to see if I'm wrong.

Title should say "to go for another degree tbh"

Job market's forced me into being a gooner NEET

Making the equivalent of 40k post grad is sad. Cs degree.

People were making similarly back in the early 2010s, sometimes even 2000s in entry level roles. And the cherry on top was that it was easier to get those roles then.

I haven't had any momentum post grad. No interviews, no assessments, nothin. Didn't learn any skills with the job I had.

I'm a disappointment tbh. Don't want to live anymore. I've been considering drinking my liver down to the end. Shouldn't have wasted money on college.

I was trapped in overnight retail for a slave wage for a year post grad. I quit it when the "raise" I got was less than inflation.

I've already committed career suic\*de, so yeh. I'm out of time to earn a decent living.

I'm considering taking drugs and doing a stint in prison eventually. Don't have much else to do. I won't be making anymore job applications.

Don't know what to do now

What do you think of a grown ass adult that can't move out?

I'm a college grad, cs, barely able to make 2 thousand a month after taxes in retail. I'm lucky if I even see an apartment that goes for that. Rents tend to be more. I'd be homeless without my parents. I'm a gooner NEET now lol

Lacking direction, tired, burnt out. Poor.

I gotta love how "damage control" is about "not having enough experience" instead of the usual drug addiction or felony these days.

I was never able to get out of fuckass overnight shelf stocking after college. I had a substantial resume before my junior year with two internships, projects, and a good gpa. I was constantly told by upperclassmen that I'd be fine. I got no responses after my sophomore year. Tough shit. Now I'm a year out of college doing fuck all. I had an overnight retail job up until 2-3 weeks ago. I quit it. It just wasn't worth ruining my sleep schedule for. Not like it pays a livable wage, not like I was learning any skills there that I didn't already have. I don't know what year y'all are in, but I'm in 2026. 40k is nothing

So idfk. I got no interviews. I'm a gooner NEET rn. I puke when I see a job application. The unfortunate truth is that I probably am qualified and perfectly capable of entering an entry level role, I just couldn't find the right opportunity. That's what people with around a decade of experience are telling me.

I can't pivot or learn new skills without more education which I don't have the fucking want for. I thought getting a bachelor's and building transferable skills in internships would be enough to get an entry level role. Ig not. My major's not relevant anymore, I can't even get an interview for it anymore.

There's nothing I can really do to change my situation. There's nothing left to "figure out." I can't do anything to make my resume much more impressive. I can't get anymore internships - didn't hear from any during my last two years or college, and I'm a year out now. Swapping one built out project for another doesn't move the needle much, if at all. I can't enter another field without going back to school and paying out the ass to learn a new skill set - which I won't be doing. It's funny, when experience is the best teacher.

I can't enter tech. I have no background in anything else, and I can't build a background elsewhere without already having a background elsewhere.

Meanwhile, we're perfectly happy with people working full time unable to afford basic living expenses. People, who contribute more to society than your six figure office worker. It's a very low bar to get over. That's what I'd be like without parents.

I'm tired. Society expects too much out of young people. Because we all are aware our economy can't last for much longer.

If I didn't have any support rn I'd be in prison, no doubt. I'm already at the end of my rope. I physically puked when I tried to open a job application the other day. I'm far too traumatized from over three years of auto rejections.

I've gotten my resume reviewed by people experienced in the field and there's nothing catastrophically wrong with it. It's a decent resume for entry level, so they say. So what the fuck else can I do? I'm open to doing anything that pays decently or at least has a chance, but I can't get an opportunity anywhere. I've gone through basically everything people can suggest. So I don't fucking know. I hardly feel free in this country. I can't move out of my parents, can't support myself, can't do much of anything. And human rights are starting to be infringed on too.

I'm considering becoming a drunk alcoholic. Drinking my liver away. I'm a loser. Doesn't seem that I can turn my life around, despite having ALL the means to.

I'm mentally and physically exhausted. My hands and stomach are feeling ill just thinking about making a job application. I don't want to be alive. I always had imposter syndrome as a kid, this is only making that worse tbh.

I quit the job I had. Wasn't worth it, wasn't leading anywhere, raises were less than inflation. Curious why you're staying at them. Honestly, it's not worth the effort.
