Manager didn't seem shocked that this happened and tried to refund the 48¢ through the register (as someone said would happen to avoid an official return/refund.
He tried to just give me the 48¢ and keep the preorder open and that he would address it.
I told him employees are always talking profane language to each other and I'm not comfortable bringing my younger nephew in this store and that this obvious attempt to take more money was the last straw. I won't be shopping at this GameStop store anymore, I will drive to a further one that has been more pleasant, but it's left a sour taste in my mouth and idk if I even want to shop there anymore.
As much as I hate other big corporations like Amazon, I feel more in control of what I'm purchasing and where my money goes.
Thanks for the help and I hope other customers aren't being scammed.
Additional rant: I wanted to use my rewards points I've been saving up on the fallout collectible preorder and I find the system for that extremely painful to deal with that you have separate in-store and online versions of the rewards and that you can't use 2 of the same rewards of like amounts (ex. 2- $10 rewards) in the same transaction. You have to do a $5, $10, $15 and so on.
Through best buy I just select an amount in multiples of $5 and use it anywhere.
On Amazon I can just get cash back (through their credit card)
But through gamestops rewards and credit card, I have to jump through hoops just to use rewards. So annoying.
I shop at GameStop frequently and the store closest to me is terrible.
The manager is always pestering me to buy stuff when I already do but sometimes I just go in to look.
The employees are always swearing and talking about getting high when I bring my kids in.
And just yesterday I bought a booster pack and was wrongfully charged for submission sleeves. I never submitted anything before.
Yeah it's only 50¢ but that is completely wrong especially if they are doing it to multiple people.
