Why don't the Louds finish their basement?

It expands the entire width of the house, so there's plenty of space down there - there was more than enough for Lori to throw a party down there. All it contains is the washer/dryer, a small utility sink, the fuse box, and the furnace. It's not like they need to store anything down there, they use their attic and sometimes the garage for that. So why not finish it and expand the living space of the house? Section off the furnace into its own room and swap the utility sink for a nicer one and you've got another hangout spot that gives everyone more room to breathe while reducing conflicts over appliances. Lincoln and the Dawg Squad could play video games there, and someone like Leni or Lola could watch their shows without having to fight for the living room TV.

Just a random though, but it'd be a neat idea to add a new backdrop to some of the house scenes, while simultaneously utilizing the most neglected part of the house.

Besides, if they can afford a bomb shelter and crazy space lasers, why not a house renovation? :)

When it comes to a potential Rhythm Heaven Smash Rep, who does the fanbase want most these days?

A bit of an outsider, but this came up in a conversation so I wanted to hear an answer from the fans themselves! I know Chorus Kids had a lot of historical demand, and Karate Joe's been doing very well on polls nowadays. But I've seen people argue that Joe was "passed up for a reason", and that a "shiny new" Groove pick like Yu or Little Miss Reeds is way more likely. So who would you hope to see rep the series if it only gets one slot in an upcoming Smash 6?

Was doing a Ricky Bobby-Style Nuzlocke (all Knockout Tours, must come in first on every segment or else a character is lost) and got this legendary last-second save

Scalding Hot Take #11: The sisters (especially not Luna) weren't "shafted and irrelevant" in Season 5 - It only looks like that because a lot of Linc's episodes/school plots got frontloaded onto the Season, and most family members don't see any reduction in their average number of focus episodes

Why were tropical aesthetics/vacations such a common and popular plot point during the early 2000's?

I'm an absolute sucker for anything tropical, so I really loved this era of entertainment - tropical settings and vacation plots were very prevelant around this time. It made sense for video games - technology allowed for some truly impressive water effects and developers wanted to show them off, but this extended into other forms of entertainment like movies and music (such as the Baha Men, who were practically inescapable during this era. Even toys got in on it (BIONICLE being the most notable example, as the first three years of the line took place on the tropical island of Mata Nui). Was there any particular thing that caused the tropical boom?

Scalding Hot take #10: If they suddenly decided to make 90-95% of the show Moon Goats and Reiningers episodes I guarentee you most of you would NOT be complaining...

Why didn't Grumpy Kong send Baboom Town to the surface when he restored it? Or at least install an elevator to the surface?

You'd think the prospector monkeys would want to return home at some point! And it was one of the biggest pieces of collateral damage from Void Kong's made dash to the core, Grumpy seems like the kind of guy who'd want to rectify that mistake.

Why are there kids toys like blocks, a toy car, and a pink table on The Great Fox?

I know Slippy's supposed to be a bit childish, but he wasn't even shown playing with them. They're just kinda there.

LF: Pretty much any Hyperspace-exclusive Pokemon

Sadly there's no Wonder Trade in this game, but I'm trying to challenge myself to complete the Hyperspace Pokedex without the DLC itself. So I'm looking for pretty much anything from there. Can help with Trade evos or pretty much anything else you might be looking for!

Why did the set designers stop using the Original 12 mask shapes in sets during the back half of the series' run?

The 2004 Matoran were the last sets to use these kinda of masks. All Future sets either got their own masks made for them or reused Metru/Norik/Iruini masks. I get that it was harder for them to fall off and they covered the now-standard Metru heads, but it's a shame they stopped using the original 12 molds (Stars Tahu doesn't count).

What's with the blasé attitude towards the Retro duology these days?

Returns pretty much saved the DK franchise, Tropical Freeze took an already great game and made it into a masterpiece. Phenomenal music and incredible level design that brought momentum back to DK, and said momentum only really died because Metroid Prime 4 took so long to make (if that weren't the case we likely would've gotten a 3rd Retro DK). Even without K. Rool, these games easily stood alongside the original trilogy as one of Nintendo's most consistently good franchises. As a result, these games used to be beloved by the fandom. But ever since Bananza released there's been a lot of people looking down on them, seeing them as "barely treading water at best" (hell, people are even saying that 64 is better). Bananza itself barely acknowledged them in the base game, only giving them the Professor Chops fossils and DK's house design on DK Isle later on. Things improved with the Tikis/Snowmads and Lord Frederick getting in-game statues, but it's still a far cry from the absolute love letter that the Rareware games got. I know a lot of people in the fandom are OG fans from the Rareware days and are happy to see it get so much love in a brand new Nintendo-produced game, but that doesn't make the Retro duology """mid""".

Is the Neotibecen Tibecen (Swamp Cicada) being morning-only a misconception?

Pretty much every source of info on these cicadas claims that they're exclusive to the morning. As a Philly resident I can confirm that they do indeed call from around 9AM to Noon quite loudly. But they'll often start back up around 6PM or so (likely thanks to light/temperature levels) and call until around 8-8:30PM. Every source I've asked about this claims that it's probably another species doing this, but the call is identical to the Swamp Cicada, and the other possible species that got reccomended (Scissor-Grinder and Walker's) don't sound anything like it. Any idea what's going on here?

What if Aang woke up after 200 years instead? How would this have affected the story?

Had a great discussion with someone on X about this, and it ended up being a very fascinating bit of Alternate History! Say that Katara and Sokka ended up in a different spot on their fishing trip that one fateful day?

How it affects the rest of the ATLA Cast and historical events within the series:

- Katara and Sokka have no reason to leave the Southern Water Tribe with no Aang around, and more than likely never see Hakoda again.

- The Kyoshi Warriors likely never leave Kyoshi Island to help in the war effort, though even if they did this won't matter for Azula's disguise tactic for reasons listed later.

- Zuko remains on a wild goose chase for the rest of his life. Iroh likely passes away out on the water with him - no way Ozai or Azula lets them come home. Zuko likely gives into despair.

- Toph possibly breaks away from her parents at some point on her own after they discover her Earth Rumble activities. She's either raised by one of the other earthbenders (The Boulder and Hippo had no grudge against her outside of that misunderstanding that she and Aang were scamming the entire rumble, which with no Aang doesn't happen) or strikes it out on her own and lives in obscurity.

- Azula inherits the throne of Fire Lord while Ozai becomes The Phoenix King. Possibly still has her mental breakdown (her friends would likely still betray her, and what kicked off her instability in Into the Inferno was Ozai's insistence that she stay behind and run The Fire Nation while she assumed they'd do the comet invasion together) and leads a very unstable and unpredictable rule, especially when Ozai eventually dies and she more than likely inherits the Phoenix King role. If she has any children they will continue the cycle of harm/family dysfunction that Sozin started.

- Jet never lets go of his extremism and likely destroys more than just that one Fire Nation town.

- Bumi still gives up Omashu when the Fire Nation comes knocking on the door, though his neutral jing one-man reconquest doesn't last long with the rest of the Earth Kingdom gone and with nobody able to stop comet-powered Ozai.

- Zhao successfully executes his Siege of the North with nobody for the Ocean Spirit to "possess" to create Koizilla. With the Moon Spirit's death, Waterbending is no longer possible. Zhao becomes a military legend and likely accompanies Azula on the Drill operation. And with nobody to stop the drill, Ba Sing Se falls and Kuei/Long Feng/the Dai Li are either executed or imprisoned (if the latter two don't flee the city first). There's no need for Ozai's Angels to disguise themselves to trick Kuei.

- With no Sokka to break his trust, Wan Shi Tong never takes his knowledge back, and the library is still accessible.

- Momo lives and dies as what is likely the last of his kind.

- Acclaimed Earth Kingdom playwright Pu-on Tim never graces us with his magnum opus, The Boy in the Iceberg.

- With the threads of time forever changed and muddled, it butterfly effects Korra's entire cast into nonexistence. Republic City is never founded as a compromise between Earth Kingdom natives and the Fire Nation citizens who have lived there for a century.

What would Aang's Adventure be like once he was finally awakened?:

- With a much more technologically advanced world-spanning Fire Nation ahead of him, he likely gets a severe case of future shock. He's still prioritize Appa over using automobiles.

- The Fire Nation is in control of the whole world. Surrounded by a new cast, Aang's story would become a sort of "rebels in the shadows" type of scenario, with this version of the Gaang constantly on the run.

- The Order of the White Lotus (if it survives) would be a primary ally, as would any disgruntled vassals of the Fire Nation. Azula clearly didn't keep her composure and would've likely pissed at least someone off during her descent into madness, and thus it's likely that the Fire Empire under Azula wasn't as stable as it was under Ozai. Really depends on how good her kids are at picking up the pieces.

- Sozin's Comet came and went, so there's no time crunch for Aang to learn Earthbending or Firebending.

- The World's oceans would have an increased fire navy presence, even without the need for a blockade, making Aang's first contact with Avatar Roku all the more difficult to get to.

- Bending masters and teachers would likely be much MUCH more difficult to come by. It's possible that he'd have to go straight to the source and learn Earthbending/Firebending straight from the Badger Moles and Dragons respectively. If The Sun Warriors are still around, it's likely that they play a larger role in the story, unless Aang runs into a less self-loathing Jeong Jeong-esque figure during his travels.

and that's all I got! What do you think would've happened?

Anyone still got Miis they've been trying to get to move in together since launch?

Still got a few, and it sucks having to constantly manage their relationships and spam interactions (only to get rewarded with a negative interaction or a cutscene where one scares the other), and any small gains I do get are wiped out the next day. I have to actively suppress these Miis from making new friends, in order to avoid even more competition for the move-in bubble, and even then they seem to be absurdly rare. I get maybe 1 a day across the whole island.

"just spam travel tickets bro" you can't choose who a Mii takes with them on the damn trip, it's basically hope and pray the other Mii's near enough to the top of their list and maybe they'll get taken along.

Some people reporting that they get "ask to move in bubbles" near-constantly and I genuinely wonder if we're playing the same game... I've got stuff I wanna build but I got yet-to-move-in miis houses in the way because they're being stubborn. Any of you in the same boat? Who's being stubborn for you?

Anyone know where this extremely crusty render of the King comes from?

Screenshot is from Sonic Oddball Crackups, which is an absolute classic.

It's clearly his KD design, but even in PS2 KD he looks way better than this. The head patterns are also dofferent and his gold chain is missing.
