Sorbaria sorbifolia in bloom

Egg-quatic stupid nest

When it gets hot, we fill up a water tray for wildlife passing through, it is often frequented by two pigeons, Peter and Jane. This morning I went to fill it with fresh water and found this egg. Is it possible Jane laid it in the water or is it more likely that a predator dropped it there?? It wasn’t broken at all.
