Is anyone else terrified to use Automoderator?

I'm genuinely terrified of writing code for Automoderator and I know of no way to test the rules to see if they actually work before anything happens in the community itself. I know there are some basic rules in the Reddit help center but I may need more complex rules and I am scared or spending time to learn the code, then write the rule, then find out the rule doesn't work after I spent all that time writing it.

I just need to know if there is anyone else who are struggling or if there is anything I can do to make writing complex Automod rules easier and less stressful.

u/Educational_Deal5759 Is looking to moderate SFW subreddits

Hi! I am interested in moderating active, SFW subreddits. I currently moderate a small subreddit of my own and possess prior experience moderating other subreddits. My experience includes filtering posts in the moderation queue, reviewing posts and comments, making judicious decisions, setting post and user flairs, monitoring various situations, managing individual posts and comments, and performing other tasks that do not involve coding. I do not have experience with Automoderator, Wiki pages, or CSS styling. I am available during weekday afternoons and evenings, and at any time on weekends. I am located in the EST/EDT timezone. Please note that I am unable to utilize Discord or Slack for external moderation discussions. I am a quick learner and would be pleased to undertake tasks and items in a training queue if your moderation team would like to provide training before I begin working with actual content. Furthermore, I am adept at communicating with users and other moderators via Mod Mail. I am not seeking to moderate NSFW subreddits and will not respond to or apply for positions on such subreddits.

Thank you for your consideration.

TIFU by microwaving my phone instead of leftover fried rice

I slept late and wokeup half asleep, I grabbed what I thought was my leftover fried rice and shoved it in the microwave for 90 seconds. Hit start, walked away to brush my teeth. I was lowkey relieved that I'm saving time and won't have to make my lunch from scratch.

Suddenly I hear a sound. Rushed back to the kitchen.

Came back to sparks. Actual sparks. Inside my microwave.

Turns out I'd grabbed my phone off the counter instead of the Tupperware. I've no explanation for this stupidity, trust me. Apart from the fact both were black in colour. This was my first time dealing with a situation like this, and I was surprisingly calm or should I stay still half asleep?

All I have now is a $900 paperweight, a smoked microwave and cold fried rice😭

The smell filled my entire apartment, only for my roommate to walk into the kitchen. Quite a start to monday morning.

TLDR- Microwaved my phone instead of my leftover rice

AITBF for not wanting to pay both my and my roommate’s portions of rent?

My (26F) roommate (30F) and I are almost at the end of our lease together (thank god). She has already not been a great roommate (ex: not working for several months or even looking for a job during that time, leaving the fridge and freezer open and letting our food go bad, never cleaning up after herself, getting defensive when I try to bring anything up, etc.)

I come from a lower-income family so I understand when stuff happens/mental health gets in the way/etc. but she genuinely had not been trying for months and just gamed the entire time she was home. I would encourage her to look for work and she would just blame the economy (which is so fair, but she was also being really picky about the jobs she looked for and took zero accountability). At the same time, I heard her on the phone say she would just keep riding on the government’s dime as long as she could (she was on unemployment from being let go). She wasn’t receiving much money, but it was just enough to cover rent and maybe a few groceries, so she stuck with it so she could stay home and game all day.

Flash forward to now. She got a job a few weeks ago that is supposed to make a decent amount of money and said she is “catching up on bills” (also fair, but to what extent). She texted me today saying she was sorry but asked if I could cover our entire rent when it comes out until she gets paid a week later.

That didn’t feel like a question as much as just telling me that I would have to cover it because what was I supposed to do, get us evicted??

I asked if she could use her credit card and she said she maxed them (multiple) out and that she’s behind on money because she was paying off her past due fees.

My job isn’t the most steady, but I do everything I can to account for any potential financial deficits before they happen (picking up more hours, getting another job, etc) and have a fair amount in savings (that I’ve worked really hard to build over years). I have my own bills to pay for an am also in a tight financial spot, and when I explained that to her, she said “I’m sorry you’re in a hard spot too. Knowing more now, I could probably front you $300 when rent comes out and the rest after I get paid.”

I don’t think she’ll avoid paying me back, but girl why wasn’t that money offered first??

I feel like I’m not in the wrong for being mad but I keep feeling bad for having these feelings because I know what it’s like to be in a tough spot and feel bad about needing help. I feel like she would have helped in an alternate situation but she’s also been very two faced in the past so I have no idea. ugh. I know not everyone had the same education on financial situations that I did, but I feel like this should have at least been communicated better?

AITBF??

***Update:

After reading the comments and talking to my dad about it, I’ve decided to go with the general consensus of getting the transaction in writing incase something goes awry. As much as I would love to tell her to shove it, I can’t afford to risk the bad rental history for myself.

My dad sent me a good eFile for official documentation and I filled it out. It states that she will pay me back on the date she originally said she would, and if she doesn’t, there’s a late fee of 50% of the initial loan cost. I gave it to her to read before I went out and I will update again with how it goes/if she signs it/etc. If she refuses to sign it, I’ll try to talk it over with her and talk to the landlord/take her to small claims court if there is still no resolve.

Thank you all for your help.

AITAH for saying no to my sisters plus 1

I (25F) am getting married in the fall to my fiancee Josh (27M). We're having a medium sized wedding. My immediate family and some extended family. Same with Josh. Neither of our families are that big but with the partners it gets up there in numbers. We didn't add +1 to any of the invitations. It was simple you got a card you were invited. So obviously this would include S/O or long term relationships even if they weren't married.

My sister (F23) got the card delivered to her in the mail like everyone else. But whenever she got it. She had messaged me and asked if her new boyfriend could come to. Now I had never met this guy and only really heard about him from time to time since they had only been dating a month. I love my sister but she always has a new boyfriend.

Anyways I said no that he couldn't and it would be only the people who got invitations. She got mad and I tried to explain that no one got +1s because we wanted to know who was at our wedding. I didn't say this too her but in all honesty I didn't want a complete stranger at my wedding. I would also like to mention it wasn't just my sister there were some of my friends who had only been dating their partners for a few months and their partners didn't get invited. I also explained this to my sister trying to explain that I wasn't isolating her.

It was a lot of me explaining myself to her and her getting annoyed she couldn't bring her new boyfriend.

Also here are the bullet points incase someone doesn't want to read the whole thing

•No one got a +1
•You got a invitation you were invited
•Sister got mad I wouldn't let her bring her new boyfriend
•We had a medium sized wedding and tried to keep it on the lower end

So reddit AITAH for saying no to my sister's plus 1 request?

DAE boobs get stuck together when you lay on your side?

I'm usually a side sleeper and I just so happen to have larger breasts so they naturally gravitate towards each other when I lay on my side. I find it incredibly annoying and have tried many ways to solve this problem but have unfortunately found no solutions yet.
