Does anybody know if there's a restaurant in the valley that sells mofongo?

I've been craving mofongo for a while, honestly. Just curious to know. I saw there is one in Laredo, but do we have any here?

If you couldn't do pathology, what other medical specialty or alternative career would you have chosen instead?

For those of you who are pathologists, I’m just curious... If pathology wasn’t an option for you, what specialty do you think you’d have gone into instead? And if you were to leave medicine altogether and do something different, what would it be?

Specialties that aren't competitive and don't see patients. Do they exist?

For a person going to med school and wanting a specialty where they don't directly treat patients, has a good salary and is not overly competitive to get into, what are some options you'd suggest looking into?

***Edit: guys, I don't hate patients😅; I just wonder what specialties are out there for people who would prefer to still contribute to improving patients' outcomes, but more indirectly and without the emphasis on patient interaction.

***I'm now looking into path, but any other you'd recommend?

People who have moved to the South and enjoy living there... Where did you go? How was your experience?

Where did you come from? Anything you like in particular about where you live there? I'd love to hear about your experience :)

What does "opening a requisition" mean? Read below for context.

Hello! For some context, I applied for a job; I, later, got a call from the employer and we were talking about when I can start, the role, et cetera. She then says she will get the "requisition open" and provide me with any updates. But what does this mean? Was I unoficially offered the job? The job application mentioned a job interview as one of the steps, but I never interviewed with them; I only got the call.

Do you think getting the requisition open has to happen before they schedule the interview? Does opening the requisition mean that they position is closed and I will have to submit another application?

Apart from keeping the Sabbath, what makes Seventh-Day Adventists different from other Protestants?

I’ve been reading about Seventh-day Adventists and understand that they differ from most Protestant denominations in observing the Saturday Sabbath and emphasizing health-related teachings. Anything different in their theology from mainline Protestantism?

I know people say Jehovah Witnesses and Latter Day Saints are feel like a cult with a theology that departs from the bible, but what about Seventh-Day Adventists? Do they have unorthodox beliefs?

Personal Question: Would you change your birth name if its meaning was connected to the devotion of a foreign god or included the name of a foreign god?

I’ve been thinking about this from a Christian perspective and I’m curious how other believers view this.

If you discovered that your birth name's meaning is tied to devotion to a foreign god, or directly included the name of a deity other than YAH, would you personally consider changing your name? Or would you see it differently?

Note: I am aware that changing your name because of this is not necessary or commanded ever in the bible, but I am asking specifically in regards to your personal convictions.

Would I qualify for in-state tuition at UT Austin if I've been working in TX >1 year but on a stipend? (Read below for context)

Hey guys, I am from out of state and have never lived in Texas. I've been applying to many AmeriCorps VISTA positions in Texas to work for a year with them before applying to colleges there. The thing is, my salary with AmeriCorps would be a stipend, a fixed amount of money.

After the year working with them, would I be considered a TX resident if I apply to colleges there including UT at Austin? By the time I matriculate, I would have been living in Texas >1 year, so I am not worried about the time requirement, but rather the stipend part. I would be working with AmeriCorps but I am not sure if that would be considered "gainful employment".

On the website talking about residency requirements for Texas public schools, it says that gainful employment is required for independent individuals, and it says this: "Gainful employment that is sufficient to provide at least one-half of the individual’s tuition, fees, and living expenses or that represents an average of at least twenty hours of employment per week. Employment conditioned on student status, such as work study, the receipt of stipends, fellowships or research or teaching assistantships does not constitute gainful employment."

I just realized "sweet potato" in Hebrew is "בטטה" pronounced the same way as "batata" in Spanish for the same word. Is there any relationship here, or just a coincidence?
