HP Omen 15 (R7 4800H / GTX 1660 Ti) – won’t power on, blinking light, no fan spin – repaired once already

Hi everyone,

I have an HP Omen 15 (Ryzen 7 4800H + GTX 1660 Ti).

About 2 months ago, I had an issue where I left a download running for a few hours. When I came back, the laptop was completely off and wouldn’t turn on.

Symptoms were:

* Pressing power button only caused the light to blink once

* No fan spin

* No boot/logo/display

* Charging light still worked normally

I tried all the usual stuff (battery disconnect, holding power button, RAM reseat, etc.) but nothing worked. Eventually I took it to a repair shop and they fixed it for around A$200. The technician’s English wasn’t great, but from what I understood he replaced some hardware/power component and mentioned it was “good that it wasn’t GPU related”.

Fast forward to today:

Laptop was working perfectly fine 5 minutes earlier. I turned it on, got to the login screen, then closed the lid while I went to grab my charger. When I came back and opened the lid, the power light stayed on but the display remained black. I tried waking it with keyboard/mouse but nothing happened, so I held the power button to force shutdown.

Now it’s back to the exact same issue:

* Power button light blinks once

* No fan spin

* No display

* Charging light still works

I already tried:

* Disconnecting battery

* Holding power button for over a minute

* Booting on charger only

* RAM reseat

Still exactly the same.

At this point I’m wondering:

* Is this likely a recurring motherboard/power rail issue?

* Could the previous repair have only temporarily fixed the problem?

* Is it even worth repairing again considering I’d be ~A$400 deep into repairs?

Would appreciate any advice, especially if someone has seen this on HP Omens before.
