Were flooded natural roads normal in Egyptian times?

I'm currently playing AC: origins, and while doing some side quests, I crossed a few dirt paths that were flooded with lake or river water. Was that part of daily Egyptian life, or did Ubisoft ad it for unexpected crocodile/hippo ambushes?

Update on my bug

So, after encountering my trinket duplication bug, I decided to start a new save to see if it still lingers. Eventually, on week 5-6, one of my trinkets was replaced with another dodge stone. It might have to do with this mod, since before subscribing, I haven't encountered any duplication

Trinket Replacement glitch?

So, I was preparing for a cove dungeon, but when I checked my trinkets, few of them, if not some, were replaced with other trinkets that I already have(e.g now I have two Junia's Heads when I'm supposed to get only one)
