Been learning a ton of Guyanese recipes. Is Garlic Pork something you guys would recommend making?

Growing up my family always made pepperpot, curry, chow mein.. ext. However, I just recently learned about this Garlic pork recipe.

How is it? Is it worth adding in? Does it go well with any particular side dish?

Just a reminder, Epic games did not hand over the Gears franchise to TC at it's peak. They left Gears after releasing Gears judgment. It still remains the lowest rated game in this franchise, not 4, not 5, not tactics. It killed a lot of momentum the series had up to that point.

Every couple months it seems like we have some people so blinded by nostalgia, that they talk as if Epic handed over this franchise at an all time high. The truth is after judgement was released the franchise had lost more support than it ever had. Hardcore Gears fans abandoned the game after a month. The series lost a ton of momentum.

That was the state of the Franchise that TC took over.

Whether you think TC has done a good job is irrelevant.. but as someone who was around when judgement was released, don't lie to the people and act like Epic left this franchise on a high.

No game in this franchise has been rated lower than Gears Judgement. That includes all 5 Gears games TC has released.

So with ATLA, Korra, The Kyoshi Dulogy, The Yangchen Duology and the Roku duology, we have 5 complete avatar stories. Here are my rankings of the five. For others who've completed all 5, how does this compare with yours?

ATLA

The Kyoshi duology

The Yangchen duology

Korra/Roku Duology

The hardest for me is generally decided between the Kyoshi novels an ATLA, as those are the strongest avatar stories in my opinion and I flip flop in my rankinfs of them.

Which cyberpunk story do you consider more cynical. The Phantom Liberty story or the Edgerunners story?

I love both these stories, but I was curious which one you consider presented the more cynical view of night city?

After consuming all things in the franchise, the original Atla series and the Kyoshi novel duology stand head and shoulders ahead of everything else in this franchise for me.

Out of everything I've consumed they're the only things I've rated above a 9. To be specific, I rate the Kyoshi Dulogy a (9.5) and the original Atla series a (9.6).

Some highlights to me

* Very cohesive narratives. Feel like the stories were developed with a clear ending in mind, and you can feel how every event in the stories build to that point.

*The way sprits are presented. I think ATLA really nailed this with Hei bai, Koh and Wan Shi Tong. They all have their own motivations and really operate outside of the human concepts of good and evil. I felt the same way about Father Glowworm in the Kyoshi novels.

*The romance. I think Kyoshi-Rangi is probably the single strongest romance in the series from start to finish. It's developed well, has realistic conflict and ends in a satisfying manner. The Atla romance is overall pretty strong, but I don't think is as well developed.

*The process of the Avatar learning bending. Think this is where ATLA shines as learning each element really gets a lot of time and development and you can see Aangs progression as his confidence develops. The Kyoshi duology has her learn the elements, but its definitely not as big a focus in the narrative as it is in Atla. I love how Kyoshi struggles with precision bending in her own native, I think that was a great inversion. I like how you see her become confident in the different elements and learn healing as well. That being said, I still don't think it does it as well as ATLA.

*Villians- just wanted to reiterate what's already been said a million times, Jianzhu is one of the greatest villains in the franchise. To see an individual from the previous avatar's "team avatar" become an antagonist to the next avatar was a really unique aspect of the novels. The man felt a deep responsibility for Kuruk's death and tries to act as a "stopgap" measure until the next avatar is found. His methods were ruthless and extreme, but I understood his motivations.

*Past lives. I absolutely loved the connections/conversations Aang had with Roku, Kyoshi and Kuruk. Thought they were all insightful, and helped develop Aang as a character. Similarly, I loved seeing Kyoshi connect with both Kuruk and Yangchen, I think seeing her go from resenting Kuruk to understanding him and then having Yanhchen break this idolized image she had of her.

Anyhow this was just my ramblings after binging through content.

An added Biotechnica questline centered around Stella Ramos and Sasha Yakovleva's story would be a great little addition. Especially if we're not getting another expansion.

For those who arent familar Sasha Yakovleva is from the "Let you down" music video that acts as a prequal to the Edgerunners series.

https://youtu.be/BnnbP7pCIvQ?si=UwUgpMWsAhft9zgB

Essentially she was the previous netrunner for Maine's crew. They were conducting a job to obtain information from Biotechnica. During the mission she discovered data on a drug that her mom was taking, that lead to her dying. Essentially the information revealed that Securicine had a neurodegradation side effect. She died while making sure that information was uploaded and hit the news .

Her sister Stella Ramos was introduced in the Phantom liberty expansion. She was a character in the "Waiting for Dodger" gig. She is currently an officer for the NCPD.

Now her connection to her sister isn't mentioned in game, but her voice actor (Suzi Hunter) did state that CDPR was originally gonna dive deeper into it in the gig, but they didn't want to have Stella trauma dump on V.

So I think if CDPR decides they want to explore a Biotechnica questline... having Stella attempt to investigate or infiltrate them as an NCPD officer has a ton of potential. Considering Biotechnica was responsible for the deaths of both her sister and mother, I imagine she would be very motivated to expose them if the opportunity presented itself.

Would you guys be interested in seeing this storyline expanded on?

I hope Edgerunners utilizes Kenichi Zaburo rather than Adam Smasher as the main threat for season 2. He is the only man Morgan Blackhand is said to have acknowledged as a rival.

Don't want the series to become too dependent on Adam Smasher as the only person who's a threat to solos.

Kenichi Zaburo is the only man who Morgan Blackhand looked at as a rival, unlike Smasher who had a rivalry in his head with Blackhand.

Zaburo works for Arasaka, is a samurai and rivals Morgan Blackhand. We have no idea where hes been after 2045. We don't even have a design for him, so it gives Studio Trigger the license to really be creative with his design

Anytime we see "Weak King" display cyberphycosis, it's before he has his reconstructed jaw. That indicates these are flashbacks. He most likely is a rehabilitated cyberphyco by Maxtac or Regina.

Layedbackgamer pointed this out in his analysis, and it all clicked for me when I rewatched it. All the cyberphyco scenes in the trailer take place before he has his signature reconstructed jaw. That means these are most likely flashbacks.

From what we've heard about his backstory I think we can safely predict

A. He used to be a hardcore edgerunner, who had a ton of cyberware and made a name for himself.

B. He went too far, went cyberphyco, but rather than die he got rehabilitated by Maxtac or Regina. Now he lives as a shell of his former self.

So it seems rather than be another Maine, his character arc might be the exact opposite. A man learning to accept his limitations. I think this makes his character 10x more interesting than what I originally thought

Two things I belive will apply to every Edgerunner series: 1. Every series will take place before Cyberpunk 2077. 2. Every series will associate someone with a diffrent drink in the afterlife

  1. I belive strongly that for planning Orion, it's much more practical for any new content to take place before the events of 2077. This way they have no need to deal with the multiple diffrent events/endings that take place during the game. Also right now essentially anything from the 20 years preceding 2077, is essentially a blank slate. So it's just much more practical.

  2. Each series will highlight the story of a diffrent afterlife legend. However, the biggest twist that people won't expect.. Sometimes that drink will be associated with the antagonist and not the protagonist. And you won't really know until the series progresses.

  3. Every Edgerunners series will have an update in-game adding easter Eggs.

Greg Berlanti was far more successful creating a cohesive DCEU with the Arrowverse, despite its flaws, than any of these people have been with far bigger budgets for DC movies. He's the only one who has any track record of knowing how to create a DC extended universe.

The Arrowverse despite it's flaws, and limitations was able to

A. Establish the initial hero of the universe (Arrow).

B. Build off the hero and create the 2nd hero (Flash)

C. Have the heros actually have chemistry together and be believable working together.

D. Introduce another hero (Supergirl)

Most attempts at a DCEU completly crash and burn somewhere between A and B. But Greg was able to do this with much less budget, no access to the biggest DC heros and less creative freedom. There were a ton of diffrent quirks that led to the fall of the Arrowverse, but he actually got all the shows off the ground and into a cohesive universe.

He's shown more proof of concept than any other person who've tried to take the DCEU off the ground.

The DCEU would not have to keep restarting. They would have already had 10+ heros in the franchise. The quality would increase because they wouldn't need to turn out Seasons to satisfy CW every year (Which to me was a huge factor in the decline of the universe).

TLDR: Despite the flaws of the arrowverse, if Greg Berlanti was given control of the DC movies back in 2012, the DCEU would be an established universe with numerous successful movies, because he understood how to establish different heros, how to make them have chemistry with each other, and to grow a universe.

Unpopular opinion: The worst thing to happen to Gears Multi-player was epic introducing TDM in gears 3. The game was much better/unique when it was based around execution/Warzone. The game was slow paced and methodical and transformed into fast paced chaos a lot closer to COD.

Honestly, TDM really messed with the Gears identity. In competitive play and online, there used to be these extremely intense matches, with the amazing clutches ever so often. Then TDM was introduced and lives didn't mean nearly as much anymore. When you played execution you knew you had to be smart, because if you were dead, you stayed dead for the round.

Every round would play differently based on your teams strategy. You might send 3 to sniper and 2 to bookshot just to contest. Then the next round you might have to switch it up, due to how elite the other team was with a power weapon.

The fact that Gears 5 doesn't even have execution anymore, speaks to the negative impacts TDM had on the franchise. It was such a casual mode, that people naturally flocked into it, and Gears just became a third person COD.

I don't know who at Epic games decided TDM needed to be in Gears, but I think that decision really messed with its identity.
